Analytical Form of Current-Voltage Characteristic of a Parallel-Plane Ionization Chamber

Abstract

The elementary processes taking place in the formation of charged particles and their flow in the ionization chamber are considered. On the basic of particles and charges balance a differential equation describing the distribution of current densities in the ionization chamber volume is obtained. As a result of the differential equation solution an analytical form of the current-voltage characteristic of a parallel-plane ionization chamber is obtained.

Summary of the theory of noncontractible physical space

There are a plenty of phenomenological, mathematical and philosophical reasons to modify or generalize our currently accepted theories in particle physics, cosmology and gravity. I give a comprehensive list of anomalies, puzzles and problems in the field of particle physics, cosmology and gravity that is the essential motivation for the curiosity driven research. The critiques of the Higgs mechanism, inflationary mechanism, instantons, sphalerons, gravity waves and the Hawking radiation are given in details. I introduce the minimal distance (UV cut-off) to resolve the UV singularity problem in quantum field theory of particle physics, minimal distance in quantum mechanics and in the nonsingular Einstein-Cartan theory of gravity relevant in cosmology. The universality of the minimal distance can be and should be checked within particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. The dark matter problem, the dark energy problem, light neutrino masses and mixing, cosmic rays muon puzzle, B meson anomalies, Tevatron t-quark charge asymmetry, W boson mass anomaly, lepton and baryon number violations, chirality of the vorticity of the Universe, kinematic dipole anomaly, etc., all have unique and clear solutions within my theory. The dimensionality of spacetime and a perfect balance between the translational and rotational degrees of freedom in Minkowski and Riemann-Cartan spacetimes are the crucial ingredients in my reasoning.

Liénard--Wiechert potentials and the electromagnetic memory effect

Classical electrodynamics is one of the most well-tested and understood theories in physics. After more than a century of history, it may be surprising that such an established theory still makes new predictions that have not yet been experimentally verified. A noteworthy example is the memory effect---a prediction that an electromagnetic wave can leave a lasting influence long after it has passed. This influence is manifested in a velocity ``kick'' on a test charge. This simple remark lies at the heart of modern investigations of the low-energy behavior of gravity, electrodynamics, and gauge theories and awaits confirmation (or refutation) through experiments. From a pedagogical perspective, this current research topic beautifully epitomizes how standard concepts from undergraduate electrodynamics can still lead to new physics. In this work, we use the Liénard--Wiechert solutions for the electromagnetic fields of moving charges to understand what the memory effect is, where it comes from, and how it could be experimentally probed in the near future. We also discuss the connections between the memory effect and other important topics in fundamental physics, as well as the search for memory in modern gravitational wave observatories.

Theoretical and experimental assessment of Einstein-Cartan theory: A comparative analysis within the USMEG-EFT framework

The Unified Standard Model with Emergent Gravity (USMEG-EFT) framework achieves Standard Model-gravity unification by treating 4D General Relativity as an effective field theory. This work presents a comparative analysis of Einstein-Cartan (EC) theory and USMEG-EFT against experimental constraints and theoretical consistency requirements, distinguishing minimal EC with algebraically determined torsion from variants in which the spin connection is an independent quantum field. The latter class includes the Faddeev-Popov quantization framework of Brandt, Frenkel, Martins-Filho and McKeon adopted in their unification proposal, and for it gravitational wave polarization measurements directly test the additional propagating degrees of freedom. General relativity's spin-2 graviton produces exactly two tensor polarizations, while EC theory with independent dynamical spin connection predicts up to six modes. LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA null tests for GW170817 favor pure tensor over pure vector and pure scalar hypotheses at Bayes factors exceeding $10^{20}{:}1$, improved to approximately $10^{26}{:}1$ with a gamma-ray-burst jet-orientation prior. Complementary matter-sector constraints from the Standard Model Extension yield $|\tilde{b}^n_\perp| < 8.4 \times 10^{-34}$ GeV, constraining background-torsion scenarios, while MICROSCOPE bounds equivalence principle violation at $η< 1.5 \times 10^{-15}$. For minimal EC theory, the four-fermion contact interaction generated upon coupling to fermions introduces non-renormalizable divergence structures at two-loop order, a case not addressed by the BRST framework established for the independent spin connection. We situate EC theory within the broader landscape of gauge gravity theories and acknowledge USMEG-EFT's limitations, including sub-Planckian validity and currently untestable distinctive predictions.
