Poisson transform for higher-rank graph algebras and its applications

Abstract

Higher-rank graph generalisations of the Popescu-Poisson transform are constructed, allowing us to develop a dilation theory for higher rank operator tuples. These dilations are joint dilations of the families of operators satisfying relations encoded by the graph structure which we call $Λ$-contractions or $Λ$-coisometries. Besides commutant lifting results and characterisations of pure states on higher rank graph algebras several applications to the structure theory of non-selfadjoint graph operator algebras are presented generalising recent results in special cases.

Tensorial free convolution, semicircular, free Poisson and R-transform in high order

This work builds on our previous developments regarding a notion of freeness for tensors. We aim to establish a tensorial free convolution. We aggregate all connected rooted $p$-regular trace invariants with a fixed number of vertices into moments. First, we define higher-order analogues of the semicircular (or Wigner) law and the free Poisson (or Marčenko-Pastur) law, giving their moments and free cumulants. We prove the convergence of the moments of a Wishart-type tensor to the ones of the free Poisson law and recall the convergence of the moments of a Wigner tensor to the moments of the semicircular law. We also present a free Central Limit Theorem in this context. Next, we introduce a tensorial free convolution at the level of exponentially bounded moment and cumulant sequences.

Selflessness for twisted group C*-algebras of amenable groups and their inclusions

For a discrete amenable group $G$ with a two-cocycle $σ$, we study when the twisted group $C^*$-algebra $C^*_r(G,σ)$ is selfless, in the sense of Robert. For a countably infinite abelian group $G$, this holds exactly when the commutator bicharacter of $σ$ is nondegenerate, that is, under Kleppner's condition. The nuclear dimension is then zero if $G$ is torsion and one otherwise. We show that root-of-unity-valued cocycles can give selfless algebras of nuclear dimension one, using slow dimension growth. The characterization extends to countably infinite virtually abelian or locally finite FC-hypercentral groups and to infinite finitely generated virtually nilpotent groups. Further, if $G$ is countable and $H\trianglelefteq G$ is infinite, the inclusion $C^*_r(H,σ')\subseteq C^*_r(G,σ)$ is selfless precisely when $C^*_r(H,σ')$ is selfless and $(H\leq G,σ)$ satisfies the relative Kleppner condition. As applications, we obtain selfless twisted group $C^*$-algebras of the lamplighter group and of the wreath product $\mathbb{Z}\wr\mathbb{Z}$.

Selfless nonnuclear crossed products

We prove that strictly ergodic actions of countable groups with Ozawa's property PHP on the Cantor set with dynamical comparison have completely selfless reduced crossed products. We deduce that these crossed products have stable rank one, strict comparison, a unique quasitracial state, and real rank zero. This covers actions of C*-simple acylindrically hyperbolic and linear groups with an amenable subgroup whose restricted action is strictly ergodic and, in particular, actions in the class $\mathrm{A}^*(F_d,X)$ introduced by Bell, Geffen, and Kerr.
