Spectral asymptotics of percolation Hamiltonians on amenable Cayley graphs

Abstract

In this paper we study spectral properties of adjacency and Laplace operators on percolation subgraphs of Cayley graphs of amenable, finitely generated groups. In particular we describe the asymptotic behaviour of the integrated density of states (spectral distribution function) of these random Hamiltonians near the spectral minimum. The first part of the note discusses various aspects of the quantum percolation model, subsequently we formulate a series of new results, and finally we outline the strategy used to prove our main theorem.

Geometric rigidity from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator

The analytic properties of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator reflect the geometry of the underlying manifold. As a guiding example of this relationship, consider the Euclidean unit ball. There, the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator has an explicitly computable spectrum, consisting of the nonnegative integers with multiplicity, and commutes with the boundary Laplacian. In this paper, we study the extent to which these properties distinguish the ball among various classes of manifolds. We show that, in every dimension, Euclidean balls are uniquely determined by their Steklov spectrum among bounded Euclidean domains with smooth and possibly disconnected boundary, answering a well-known open question. We then classify all smooth compact connected oriented surfaces with nonempty boundary whose Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator commutes with the boundary Laplacian. Finally, in dimensions three and above, we prove that, for smooth metrics conformal to the Euclidean ball, the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator commutes with the Laplacian on the round sphere if and only if the conformal factor is radial.

Discrete Mixed Quantization for Cat Maps

In this paper, we develop a mixed quantization technique for graph vector bundles that combines semiclassical analysis and quantum cat maps. We apply it to study the Kesten--McKay law and quantum ergodicity.

Improvements of Classical Eigenvalue Inequalities I: Quantitative Hersch-deficit and the Joint Spectral Range on the Two-Sphere

For area-$4π$ metrics on the two-sphere, we obtain quantitative refinements of classical eigenvalue inequalities and study the joint behavior of the first two Laplace eigenvalues. We prove a sharp quadratic improvement of Hersch's reciprocal-sum inequality in terms of the first eigenvalue, together with a simultaneous quadratic estimate for the first three eigenvalues and a geometric stability result for admissible measures. We also establish a quantitative refinement of Nadirashvili's second-eigenvalue inequality with sharp exponential scale. Finally, using explicit spectral families due to Petrides, a degree argument, and a refined finite-dimensional matrix method, we obtain nontrivial inner and outer bounds for the joint range of $(λ_1,λ_2)$.
