Sequestering in models of F-term uplifting

Abstract

We discuss the nature of sequestering supersymmetry breaking sectors in a certain class of moduli stabilization in supergravity/string models, where a negative vacuum energy of the nonperturbative moduli potential is canceled by dynamically generated F-terms. Two illustrating examples are shown to sketch the issues around the supersymmetry breaking, flavors and sequestering within such a framework.

Lower-dimensional behavior from factorized infrared geometries along holographic RG flows

We study the emergence of effective lower-dimensional behavior in heavy-scalar two-point functions along holographic RG flows. For charged asymptotically AdS black holes, the equal-time spatial correlator remains exponentially screened, while the temporal correlator exhibits distinct temperature-dependent regimes. Away from extremality, the controlled late-time sector is the Schwarzschild-connected saddle, whose decay rate requires matching to the full geometry. Near extremality, an AdS$_2$ throat supports an additional sector whose leading decay rate is fixed by the throat data. For RN-AdS$_4$, sufficiently near extremality, this throat contribution dominates at asymptotically late times if its matched amplitude is nonzero. At extremality, the thermal throat exponential is replaced by the AdS$_2$ power law. We also study the complete zero-density magnetic-brane flow from AdS$_5$ to AdS$_3\times \mathbb{R}^2$. The transverse heavy-scalar correlator remains exponentially screened, whereas the longitudinal correlator approaches the AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$ power law in the infrared. These results show that factorized infrared geometries can support effective lower-dimensional conformal dynamics whose realization depends on temperature, direction, and the relevant saddle sector, without implying dimensional reduction of the microscopic QFT.

Gravitational Algebras with Two Areas

We study gravitational algebras on spacetimes with two extremal surfaces. In the example of a long wormhole with two asymptotic AdS boundaries and two compact extremal surfaces, we discuss the assignment of gravitational algebras to various regions bounded by the extremal surfaces and/or asymptotic boundaries. Using the split property, we construct type II algebras from the crossed product in the left exterior, right exterior, the middle ``python's lunch'' region, and their complement regions. We also study the case where only the area sum operator or area difference operator is included as part of the gravitational algebra. This can be achieved by picking the appropriate microcanonical ensemble, and these gravitational algebras can either be type II or type III depending on the region. In the case where we include only the area difference mode, the crossed product gives rise to a weight that restricts to a trace on the middle region. Differences of relative entropies with respect to this weight give differences in generalized entropies. This provides an algebraic understanding of the order parameter that controls the phase transitions between entanglement wedges. We emphasize the role of operator-valued weights used in our construction.

Half-Spacetime Gauging of 2-Group Symmetry in 3d

We construct a class of non-invertible duality defects, in (2+1)d quantum field theories, arising from half-spacetime gauging of a 2-group symmetry. Starting from a parent theory with two discrete and Abelian 0-form symmetries and a prescribed mixed anomaly, we show that gauging one factor produces a theory with a 2-group symmetry, while gauging the other yields a theory with a non-invertible 0-form symmetry, whose fusion rules we derive explicitly. When the parent theory possesses three such symmetries with a cyclic anomaly structure, gauging different factors can produce mutually dual theories and the half-spacetime gauging of the 2-group is implemented by a non-invertible duality defect, whose fusion rules we obtain. We illustrate the construction with explicit examples, including a $U(1)\times U(1)\times U(1)$ gauge theory and a general class of product theories. We also include a self-contained pedagogical introduction to the cohomological tools employed throughout the article.
