Hadronic cross section measurements and contribution to $(g-2)_μ$ with KLOE

Abstract

The KLOE experiment at the DA$Φ$NE $ϕ$-factory has performed a new precise measurement of the pion form factor using Initial State Radiation events. Results based on an integrated luminosity of 240 pb$^{-1}$ and extraction of the $ππ$ contribution to $a_μ$ in the mass range $0.35< M^2_{ππ}<0.95$ GeV$^2$ are presented. The new value of $a^{ππ}_μ$ has smaller statistical and systematic error and is consistent with the KLOE published value (confirming the current disagreement between the Standard Model prediction for $a_μ$ and the measured value).

Benchmarking Nucleon Production in Hadron Interactions Relevant for GeV-scale Neutrino Experiments

In neutrino scattering experiments, the emitted final state particles are essential for identifying interaction channels and reconstructing neutrino energies. During intranuclear propagation, neutrino-induced hadrons can interact with surrounding nucleons, altering both the number of final state particles and detectable energy depositions. As a result, neutrino experiments rely on hadron-nucleus scattering models to simulate these nuclear effects. This paper explores nucleon production predicted by hadron scattering models for common hadrons in neutrino experiments, specifically nucleons and pions. We investigate these models with simulations from the \textsc{GENIE} neutrino event generator, which includes implementations of \textsc{Geant4} Bertini Cascade and \textsc{INCL++}. For popular target nuclei, we find that the number of emitted nucleons for mesonless hadron interactions can be parameterized by simple Gaussian and exponential decay functions. We present these relationships and provide reweighting tools for addressing the hadron scattering model spread in both visible energy and final state nucleon multiplicities.

Dark photons in exotic Higgs boson decays at FCC-ee

A prospective search for dark photons decaying into collimated, displaced muon pairs is presented for the electron-positron stage of the Future Circular Collider, FCC-ee. Assuming the full luminosity of the Higgs run at 240 GeV, the study probes a broad range of dark photon masses and couplings. The signature comprises two jets from a Z boson decay and two muon pairs from dark photons produced in Higgs decays. A kinematics-based selection achieves zero background while retaining high signal efficiency. Expected limits are set on the Higgs boson branching ratio to dark photons as a function of the dark photon mass and coupling.

Search for resonant and nonresonant production of pairs of dijet resonances with b jets in the final state in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV

A search is presented for pair-produced dijet resonances of identical mass, each decaying into a bottom (b) quark and a light-flavor quark. The search uses a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 136 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. Results are presented separately for nonresonant production and for the case where the four-jet production proceeds via an intermediate resonant state. Upper limits are reported on the production of four-jet and dijet resonances with b jets in the final state. This is the first LHC search for resonant production of pairs of fully resolved dijet resonances with b jets in the final state, in which all resonances considered correspond to non-standard-model states. For nonresonant production, the most significant excess occurs at an average dijet mass of 1.0 TeV, with a local significance of 2.1 standard deviations. Additionally, the results exclude pair production of top squarks with masses between 0.5 and 0.8 TeV, extending previous searches for $R$-parity-violating decays to strange and b quarks. In the search for resonant production, the most significant excess occurs at a four-jet resonance mass of 3.1 TeV and a dijet resonance mass of 1.3 TeV, with a local significance of 2.6 standard deviations. The results are also used to set limits at 95% confidence level on the diquark-to-diquarks model and exclude the heavier diquark masses between 2 and 7 TeV.
