Search for Physics Beyond the Standard Model at BaBar and Belle

Abstract

Recent results on the search for new physics at BaBar and Belle B-factories are presented. The search for a light Higgs boson produced in the decay of different Y resonances is shown. In addition, recent measurements aimed to discover invisible final states produced by new physics mechanisms beyond the standard model are presented.

Study of the proccess $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ in the c.m. energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ has been measured using a data sample with the integrated luminosity of 372 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 6300$\pm$145 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 10\%. The production dynamics is dominated by the $ω(782)π^0η$ final state with a possible small contribution of the $a_0(980)$ resonance in the $π^0η$ combination. We also observe a presence of the $ρ(770)^{\pm}$ resonance signal in the $π^{\pm}π^0$ invariant mass distribution.

The NOvA Test Beam Experiment

NOvA is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment designed to study the neutrino mixing parameters, mass ordering, and CP violation in the lepton sector. A key component of the success of the experiment is a robust understanding of the systematic uncertainties associated with detector response and calibration. To address this, NOvA deployed a Test Beam experiment at the Fermilab Test Beam Facility, which collected data from April 2019 through July 2022. The NOvA Test Beam experiment used a 30-ton segmented liquid scintillator detector functionally identical to the NOvA Near and Far Detectors to analyze tagged particles produced from p-Cu collisions, with instrumentation capable of selecting and identifying electrons, muons, pions, kaons, and protons with momentum ranging from 0.4-1.5GeV/c. Analysis of the collected data provides a better understanding of the largest systematic uncertainties impacting NOvA's analyses, which include the detector response, energy calibration, and hadronic and electromagnetic energy resolutions.

Search for the process $e^+e^-\to f_1(1285)$ at the SND detector

In the experiment with the SND detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider, a search is performed for the direct production of the $C$-even $f_1(1285)$ resonance in $e^+e^-$ collisions. The analysis is based on data with an integrated luminosity of about 200 pb$^{-1}$, accumulated in the center-of-mass energy range of 1.14--1.46 GeV, of which about 72 pb$^{-1}$ were recorded near the maximum of the $f_1(1285)$ resonance. The $f_1(1285)$ production cross section at the resonance maximum $σ(e^+e^-\to f_1)=(31\pm 13\pm 2)$ pb and the branching fraction $B(f_1(1285)\to e^+e^-)=(3.5\pm 1.4\pm 0.3)\times 10^{-9}$ have been measured. The significance of the observation of the $e^+e^-\to f_1(1285)$ process is $2.5σ$. Since the significance is low, we also present the upper limits at the 90% confidence level: $σ(e^+e^-\to f_1)<48\mbox{ pb}$ and $B(f_1(1285)\to e^+e^-)<5.4\times 10^{-9}$.
