First bolometric measurement of the two neutrino double beta decay of $^{100}$Mo with a ZnMoO$_4$ crystals array

Abstract

The large statistics collected during the operation of a ZnMoO$_4$ array, for a total exposure of 1.3 kg $\cdot$ day of $^{100}$Mo, allowed the first bolometric observation of the two neutrino double beta decay of $^{100}$Mo. The observed spectrum of each crystal was reconstructed taking into account the different background contributions due to environmental radioactivity and internal contamination. The analysis of coincidences between the crystals allowed the assignment of constraints to the intensity of the different background sources, resulting in a reconstruction of the measured spectrum down to an energy of $\sim$300 keV. The half-life extracted from the data is T$_{1/2}^{2ν}$= [7.15 $\pm$ 0.37 (stat) $\pm$ 0.66 (syst)] $\cdot$ 10$^{18}$ y.

Measurements of $γ_v p \to π^+ π^- p'$ Cross Sections with the CLAS Detector for $Q^{2}$ from 2.0--5.0~GeV$^{2}$ and $W$ from 1.400--2.125~GeV

Observables in the electroproduction of the $π^+π^-p$ reaction channel off the proton that are sensitive to the polarization of the virtual photon are presented for the first time in addition to the extraction of the nine single-differential and fully integrated cross sections within the kinematics area of 2.0~GeV$^2 < Q^2 < 5.0$~GeV$^2$ and 1.400~GeV $< W < 2.125$~GeV measured with the CLAS detector in Hall B at Jefferson Lab. The extraction of the unpolarized cross sections has been considerably improved in comparison with previously published results from this same dataset, offering finer binning over the five-dimensional hadronic reaction phase space, and including essential advances in the acceptance evaluation by implementing a new technique to stabilize the cross section extraction and minimize the systematic uncertainty associated with the simulation statistics. These improvements are of particular importance for the extraction of the $γ_v p N^*$ electrocouplings from these data.

Doppler-shift attenuation method (DSAM) lifetimes in $^{54}$Cr - a re-evaluation

Background: Contemporary stopping powers for fp-shell nuclei slowing in tantalum can differ by a factor of two from the 1963 Lindhard, Scharff and Schiøtt (LSS) theory [Mat. Fys. Medd. Dan. Vid. Selsk. 33 no. 14, (1963)] used in Doppler-shift attenuation method (DSAM) lifetime measurements dating back to the 1970s. In recent work [Phys. Rev. C 113, 044306 (2026)], it was found that anomalously high collectivity in the $4^+_1 \rightarrow 2^+_1$ transition of 58Fe given in the literature [Nucl. Data Sheets 111, 897 (2010)] could be traced back as due to the use of these historical stopping powers in the Doppler-shift lifetime measurements. Satisfactory agreement with shell-model calculations was obtained from a re-analysis of the measurement of Bolotin et al. [Nucl. Phys. A 311, 75 (1978)] once the stopping powers were replaced by up-to-date values. Purpose: The DSAM measurement on 54Cr by the same group [Nucl. Phys. A 337, 1 (1980)], which used the same experimental methods and procedures, is re-examined. Method: The computer code used in the original DSAM analysis has been rebuilt and upgraded with the capacity to use contemporary stopping powers. E2 transition strengths derived from the revised lifetimes are compared with shell-model calculations. Results: The lifetimes increase by 16% to 27%, with the larger increase generally corresponding to shorter lifetimes where electronic stopping dominates. Conclusions: Revised lifetimes, based on current stopping powers, imply E2 transition rates between states up to the 6$^+_1$ state in 54Cr that compare well with shell-model calculations. The lifetime data together with branching ratios and the shell-model calculations strongly suggest revision of the spins assigned to the levels at 3.786 (currently (4)$^+$) and 4.043 MeV (currently 5$^+$). These levels are suggested to be the 5$^+_1$ and 6$^+_2$ states, respectively.

Measurement of $\mathrm{^{75}As}(\mathrm{n},γ)\mathrm{^{76}As}$ reaction relevant to 0$νββ$ decay searches of $\mathrm{^{76}Ge}$ and astrophysical $s$-process temperatures

The cross sections and resonance structures of $\rm^{75}As$(n,$γ$)$\rm^{76}As$ reaction are critical to the neutrinoless double-$β$ (0$νββ$) decay searches of $\rm^{76}Ge$, the $s$-process nucleosynthesis of nuclear astrophysics, and Neutron Resonance Capture Analysis for determining the elemental and isotopic composition of archaeological and cultural heritage. We report a high-precision measurement of the $\rm^{75}As$ neutron capture cross sections from 1~eV to 1~MeV, performed at the Back-n facility of the China Spallation Neutron Source using the Time-of-Flight method. In the resolved resonance region, nineteen resonance structures of $\rm^{75}As$(n,$γ$)$\rm^{76}As$ reaction have been discovered for the first time, and inconsistencies between evaluated libraries has been resolved. Resonance parameters for the newly observed structures were extracted with the $R$-matrix code SAMMY. These findings will help refine the theoretical predictions of half-lives and decay constants for the double-$β$ decay searches of $\rm^{76}Ge$. Astrophysical Maxwellian-averaged cross sections were calculated based on the averaged cross sections in the unresolved resonance region. And the $\rm^{75}As$(n,$γ$)$\rm^{76}As$ reaction rates were derived over the astrophysically relevant temperature range in both the main and weak $s$-processes nucleosynthesis. The present reaction rates deviate significantly from the recent theoretical predictions, and the uncertainties are significantly reduced.
