On the Mathematical and Geometrical Structure of the Determining Equations for Shear Waves in Nonlinear Isotropic Incompressible Elastodynamics

Abstract

Using the theory of $1+1$ hyperbolic systems we put in perspective the mathematical and geometrical structure of the celebrated circularly polarized waves solutions for isotropic hyperelastic materials determined by Carroll in Acta Mechanica 3 (1967) 167--181. We show that a natural generalization of this class of solutions yields an infinite family of \emph{linear} solutions for the equations of isotropic elastodynamics. Moreover, we determine a huge class of hyperbolic partial differential equations having the same property of the shear wave system. Restricting the attention to the usual first order asymptotic approximation of the equations determining transverse waves we provide the complete integration of this system using generalized symmetries.

Stochastic quantization of $λϕ_2^4$- theory in 2-d Moyal space

There is strong evidence for the conjecture that the $λϕ^4$ QFT- model on 4-dimensional non-commutative Moyal space can be non-perturbatively constructed. As preparation, in this paper we construct the 2-dimensional case with the method of stochastic quantization. We show the local well-posedness and global well-posedness of the stochastic quantization equation, leading to a construction of the Moyal $λϕ^4_2$ measure for any non-negative coupling constant $λ$.

Controlled atomic limit and analytic density of states in a strongly attractive random Kronig-Penney model

We study the negative-energy density of states of a one-dimensional random Kronig-Penney model with independent and identically distributed attractive delta interactions. Each isolated interaction of strength $q<0$ has a bound state of energy $-q^2/4$. Using the inverse coupling $V=-1/q$, the Krein resolvent formula reduces the continuum problem to a lattice operator with random diagonal entries and energy-dependent hopping. Under a local analyticity assumption on the coupling density, we prove a controlled atomic limit. After energy is divided by the square of the attraction strength, the scaled density of states approaches the density of isolated binding energies with an exponentially small error on compact interior intervals. An explicit strong-attraction condition also gives real-analyticity of the density of states and the integrated density of states on the corresponding negative-energy interval. A support condition ensures that this interval belongs to the almost-sure spectrum. For a uniform coupling law, we obtain a concrete sufficient threshold and illustrate the spectral profile with finite-volume calculations based on the exact point-interaction recurrence.

On gap properties for the linearized 1D Dirac--Soler model

We study spectral properties of the Dirac operator $L_0$ obtained by linearizing the one-dimensional Soler model around standing waves with power nonlinearity $f(s)=s|s|^{p-1}, \, p>0$. We give a sharp characterization of the spectral gap. More precisely, we prove that if $p\ge1$, then the gap contains no eigenvalues other than the symmetry-induced energies $-2ω$ and $0$, while for~$0 0$, and that threshold resonances are absent for~$p>1$. Along the way, we establish several structural results for generalized eigenfunctions of one-dimensional Dirac operators at threshold energies under mild assumptions on the potential.
