On the Geometry of Cotangent Bundles of Lie Groups

Abstract

Lie groups of automorphisms of cotangent bundles of Lie groups are completely characterized and interesting results are obtained. We give prominence to the fact that the Lie groups of automorphisms of cotangent bundles of Lie groups are super symmetric Lie groups. In the cases of orthogonal Lie lgebras, semi-simple Lie algebras and compact Lie algebras we recover by simple methods interesting co-homological known results. The Lie algebra of prederivations encompasses the one of derivations as a subalgebra. We find out that Lie algebras of cotangent Lie groups (which are not semi-simple) of semi-simple Lie groups have the property that all their prederivations are derivations. This result is an extension of a well known result due to Müller. The structure of the Lie algebra of prederivations of Lie algebras of cotangent bundles of Lie groups is explored and we have shown that the Lie algebra of prederivations of Lie algebras of cotangent bundle of Lie groups are reductive Lie algebras. We have studied bi-invariant metrics on cotangent bundles of Lie groups and their isometries. The Lie algebra of the Lie group of isometries of a bi-invariant metric on a Lie group is composed with prederivations of the Lie algebra which are skew-symmetric with respect to the induced orthogonal structure on the Lie algebra. We have shown that the Lie group of isometries of any bi-invariant metric on the cotangent bundle of any semi-simple Lie groups is generated by the exponentials of inner derivations of the Lie cotangent algebra. Last, we have dealt with an introduction to the geometry the Lie group of affine motions of the real line $\mathbb R$, which is a Kählerian Lie group.

Futaki invariant on Hopf manifolds

The Futaki invariant is a fundamental tool in Kähler geometry representing an obstruction to the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics. Recently, it was generalized to compact complex manifolds. In this paper, we prove that it vanishes on Hopf manifolds.

Remarks on potential functions of noncompact quasi-Einstein manifolds

In this article, we study the set of potential functions on noncompact quasi-Einstein manifolds. We show that the space of all positive potential functions on a three-dimensional noncompact quasi-Einstein manifold has dimension at most two, and that equality holds if and only if the manifold is isometric to a product $B\times\mathbb{R}$, where $B$ is a $λ$-Einstein surface or one of the examples obtained by L. Berard Bergery and described in Besse's book. Moreover, we prove that any asymptotically flat $n$-dimensional quasi-Einstein manifold with $λ=0$ is necessarily Ricci-flat.

Adjusted connections on non-abelian bundle gerbes

Higher gauge theory for non-abelian structure 2-groups faces significant challenges when extending beyond the fake-flat sector, which suffers from limited applicability in physical models. A promising resolution involves equipping 2-groups with additional structure, known as adjustments. We present a comprehensive theory of adjusted connections on non-abelian bundle gerbes, classified by Saemann's adjusted version of non-abelian differential cohomology. This theory enables, in particular, a new coordinate-independent formulation of Tellez-Dominguez' lifting theorem, establishing a correspondence between adjusted connections on non-abelian bundle gerbes and connections on abelian bundle 2-gerbes.
