Casimir Effect in a Schwarzschild-Like Wormhole Spacetime

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the role of gravito-inertial effects on the Casimir energy of a massless scalar field confined between two parallel plates orbiting a static and zero tidal Schwarzschild-like wormhole, at zero temperature. Firstly, we obtain the metric in isotropic coordinates, finding the allowed angular velocities and the circular orbit radii for a material particle as well as for the photon. Following, we compute the changes induced by both gravity and rotation of the plates in the energy density of the quantum vacuum fluctuations associated to the scalar field, in the zero tidal approximation inside the cavity. Finally, the Casimir energy obtained for some these wormholes are graphically compared between themselves and also with those ones related to an Ellis wormhole as well as to a Schwarzschild black hole. With this, the gravito-inertial effects on the quantum vacuum fluctuations analyzed in this work allow to recognize and identify both the geometry and topology of the spacetime associated to each one of these objects.

Deriving Feynman's Consistency Condition from His Abandoned Energy-Momentum Approach

Feynman briefly considered a nonlinear theory of gravity in flat spacetime by imposing energy-momentum conservation on the sum of the energy-momentum tensor of matter and that of the gravitational field. He used the symmetrized canonical energy-momentum tensor as the energy-momentum tensor of the gravitational field. He reported that the resulting construction gave an incorrect value for Mercury's perihelion precession and abandoned this route in favor of a variational argument based on dynamical consistency. We reconsider the abandoned route. The key step is to identify the gravitational energy-momentum tensor not with the conventional Belinfante tensor, which becomes symmetric upon use of the field equations, but with its off-shell Belinfante-Rosenfeld tensor, which contains explicit Euler-Lagrange terms. If we apply the law of conservation of energy and momentum to the sum of this tensor and the matter energy-momentum tensor, we obtain Feynman's consistency condition. Thus Feynman's dynamical-consistency argument and the reconstructed energy-momentum argument, although based on different physical assumptions, yield the same identity. The Euler-Lagrange terms are essential to this result.

Quantum Correlations of Neutrinos in the Kerr-Newman Space-time

Quantum phases provide a connection between gravitation and quantum information, which proposes a novel avenue to explore the properties of space-time. In this paper, we investigate the quantum correlations (QCs) of neutrinos in the Kerr--Newman space-time for both zero- and nonzero-angular-momentum propagation. The results show that, for zero-angular-momentum propagation, the oscillation periods of the survival probability and QCs progressively decrease with propagation distance in the inward direction. In the outward direction, increasing $M$ lengthens the oscillation periods of $P_{ν_e\rightarrowν_e}$, entanglement, and the monogamy of nonlocality, whereas increasing angular momentum $a$ or charge $Q$ shortens them. For nonzero-angular-momentum propagation, the metric parameters also generate local profile modulations through additional two-path interference terms, rather than merely rescaling the oscillation period. Furthermore, we find that, despite differences in their variation ranges, entanglement and coherence exhibit highly consistent oscillation behaviors in both propagation cases. These findings provide a comprehensive understanding for the neutrino-based relativistic quantum information.

A First-Order Gauge Approach to de Sitter General Relativity

We propose a first-order gauge formulation of de Sitter relativity in which the pseudo-radius l(x) is promoted to a spacetime field, locally breaking SO(4,1) to SO(3,1). Here, l(x) is a geometric compensator and dl(x) the associated order parameter. This modifies the Strong Equivalence Principle: the local vacuum follows the matter distribution instead of remaining fixed, while the propagating degrees of freedom of General Relativity are unchanged. At fixed l(x), the action is SO(3,1)-gauge invariant, but varying l(x) destroys covariance under the full translational sector of SO(4,1). Through the Inonu-Wigner contraction, abstract generators become explicit spacetime transformations, yielding nonlinear Killing vectors in both the macroscopic l tends to infinity and microscopic l tends to 0 limits. The generalized Noether theorem gives a unified energy-momentum current coupling the standard tensor to the proper conformal matter current. It vanishes identically without matter, causing the asymptotic extinction of local vacuum energy and the decay of the background to Minkowski spacetime. Independent variations yield the coupled de Sitter field equations, and we algebraically prove their equivalence to the tensorial splitting on the coordinate manifold. Gauge Bianchi identities further show that Lambda(x) is an intrinsic source of spacetime torsion, consistently identifying it with the local order parameter of the symmetry breaking. The cosmological constant problem is therefore recast, not numerically solved: deriving the decay of Lambda(x) from early-universe densities to its observed value remains future work.
