Some Probabilistic Properties of General Topological Markov Chains

Abstract

In this paper, we utilize the framework of Markov processes to attain a more probabilistic perspective on the theory of transfer operators. In doing so, we establish a functional central limit theorem (FLCT) for an $O(N)$ model associated with Dyson potential on the one-dimensional lattice. We also proof a FLCT on a non-compact alphabet setting, for a model associated with a Dyson type potential on the one-dimensional lattice. A Breimann ergodic theorem for equilibrium measures arising from the Ruelle Operator Formalism is proved. Furthermore, we obtain a qualitative criterion (strong transitivity) to determine when the conformal measure has full support. As an application, we show how to connect the Ruelle operator framework with the perspective of the Hopf theory of Markov Processes.

Torus Bifurcation in the Hopf-Langford type system through Averaging Theory

We study the existence of periodic solutions and invariant tori bifurcating from a zero-Hopf equilibrium in a Hopf-Langford type system. Using second-order averaging theory, we establish explicit parameter conditions under which the system admits a periodic solution near the origin, together with its stability. We then apply recent results relating invariant tori to Neimark-Sacker bifurcations of the associated Poincaré map to obtain a smooth bifurcation curve along which a unique invariant torus surrounds the periodic solution. The relevant first Lyapunov coefficient is computed explicitly as a power series in the perturbation parameter, and we show that, under the conditions considered, this coefficient is always positive; consequently, whenever it exists, the bifurcating torus is unstable, regardless of the specific parameter values chosen within our hypotheses. This provides a structural obstruction to the existence of asymptotically stable tori in this family of systems. We illustrate our results with two numerical examples, one exhibiting an isolated asymptotically stable periodic solution with no bifurcating torus, and another exhibiting a periodic solution surrounded by an unstable invariant torus, the latter also illustrated through its Poincaré map.

On fluctuations of the drift in hyperbolic groups

Let $Γ$ refer to a convex-cocompact group of isometries of a CAT($-1$) space $X$ and $Y \to X/Γ$ to a Galois cover with a word-hyperbolic group of deck transformations. We show that, for almost every geodesic $ξ$ with respect to the Bowen-Margulis-Sullivan measure on the lift of $X/Γ$, there exist $\mathfrak{m}, σ> 0$ and a standard Brownian motion $B_s$ such that, for any $λ> 1/4$, \[ d(p(g_s (ξ)), \mathbf{o}) = \mathfrak{m}s + σB_s + o(s^λ), \] with $g_s$ referring to the geodesic flow acting on the geodesics of $Y$ and $p(g_s)$ to the canonical projection to $Y$. The result is a consequence of an almost sure invariance principle for random walks on hyperbolic groups with dependent increments, whose proof makes use of a new Ruelle operator theorem for skew products and Martin boundary techniques for random walks with dependent increments.

Weak Averaging Principle and Weak Pullback Attractors for Mckean--Vlasov Stochastic Navier--Stokes Equations

We establish three weak averaging principles for distribution-dependent stochastic Navier--Stokes equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients on the torus $\T^2$. First, solution laws are relatively compact on finite time intervals, and every limit point as $\var\to0$ is the path law of a variational martingale solution of the averaged equation. Under a dissipative condition, we can choose bounded complete variational solution laws of the original and averaged equations so that every sequence with $\var\to0$ has a subsequence converging weakly to a bounded complete variational solution law of the averaged equation. At the level of probability laws, the original nonautonomous equation admits a family of weak pullback attractors, while the averaged equation has a weak global attractor. The weak pullback attractors converge upper semicontinuously to the weak global attractor of the averaged equation, uniformly with respect to the coefficient hull.
