Norm inequalities involving geometric means

Abstract

Let $A_i$ and $B_i$ be positive definite matrices for every $i=1,\cdots,m.$ Let $Z=[Z_{ij}]$ be the block matrix, where $Z_{ij}=B_i^{^\frac{1}{_2}}\left(\displaystyle\sum_{k=1}^mA_k\right)B_j^{^\frac{1}{_2}}$ for every $ i,j=~1,\cdots,m$. It is shown that $$\left|\left|\left|\sum_{i=1}^m\left(A_i^{s}\sharp B_i^{s}\right)^r\right|\right|\right|\leq\left|\left|\left| Z^{^\frac{sr}{_2}} \right|\right|\right| \leq \left|\left|\left|\left(\left(\sum_{i=1}^mA_i\right)^\frac{srp}{_4}\left(\sum_{i=1}^mB_i\right)^\frac{srp}{_2}\left(\sum_{i=1}^mA_i\right)^\frac{srp}{_4}\right)^{\frac{1}{_p}}\right|\right|\right|,$$ for all $s\geq2$, for all $p>0$ and $r\geq1$ such that $rp\geq1$ and for all unitarily invariant norms. This result generalizes the results in \cite{ONIR} and gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture in \cite{OACRT} for all $s\geq2$ and for all $p>0$ and $r\geq1$ such that $rp\geq1$ and $t=\frac{1}{2}$. This result also leads directly to Dinh, Ahsani, and Tam's conjecture in \cite{GAI} and proves Audenaert's result in \cite{ANIFP}.

Metric Poincaré type inequalities and lower bounds on the infimum of the spectrum for graphs

We study metric Poincaré type inequalities on general graphs. We characterize graphs satisfying such inequalities and then turn to the best constants in these inequalities. Invoking suitable metrics we can interpret these constants geometrically as diameters and inradii. Moreover, we can relate them to spectral theory of Laplacians once a probability measure on the graph is chosen. More specifically, we obtain a variational characterization of these constants as infimum over spectral gaps of all Laplacians on the graphs associated to probability measures

Natural methods of unsupervised topological alignment

In this paper, we consider methods for the diagonal multi-omics integration of heterogeneous datasets. Several approaches to the nature of biological heterogeneity are analyzed and developed to comprehend more clearly the generated differences. Specifically, the extremal trace problems for the coupled Laplacian on sets homeomorphic to the Stiefel manifold embedded in the complex Euclidean space are investigated. The gradient ascent method for the maximization problem is elaborated in the classical terms of functional analysis, which is of significant interest in itself. On this basis, we introduce a novel characteristic of dataset heterogeneity by employing the norm of the difference between the maximum and minimum points.

Some observations on transitivity of Lipschitz operators

The universal property of the Lipschitz-free spaces allows for the linearisation of a base point preserving Lipschitz map $f\colon M\to M$ to a bounded linear operator $T_f\colon \mathcal{F}(M) \to \mathcal{F}(M)$. While it is known that the operator $T_f$ is weakly mixing whenever $f$ has this property, it is open whether a similar inheritance result for topological transitivity holds. Motivated by this question we investigate properties of $T_f$ under the assumption that $f$ is topologically transitive. In particular we prove Kitai's theorem for Lipschitz operators, i.e. we show that every connected component of the complex variant of $T_f$ intersects the unit circle if $f$ is topologically transitive.
