Every closed surface of genus at least 18 is Loewner

Abstract

In this paper, we obtain an improved upper bound involving the systole and area for the volume entropy of a Riemannian surface. As a result, we show that every orientable and closed Riemannian surface of genus $g\geq 18$ satisfies Loewner's systolic ratio inequality. We also show that every closed orientable and nonpositively curved Riemannnian surface of genus $g\geq 11$ satisfies Loewner's systolic ratio inequality.

Weighted normalized curve shortening flow with applications in pseudo-Euclidean spaces

The focus of this paper is the curve shortening flow for closed spacelike curves in pseudo-Euclidean spaces, which has very few results so far. Will they produce singularities where certain tangent line tends to light cone? If not, will such a curve shrink to a circular point? To answer these questions, we establish a dichotomy for planar weighted normalized curve shortening flow with uniformly positive and bounded weights. Applying to closed smooth spacelike curves in pseudo-Euclidean spaces that admit a one-to-one convex projection onto a spacelike plane, at their finite maximal time we will see: either the curve shrinks to a point and becomes asymptotically circular, or the tangent directions subsequentially approach the null cone. Both alternatives occur. In the first case, this proves our previous conjecture that a strong spacelike curve in $\mathbb{R}^{2,q}$ with index 1 will converge to a circular point under the usual CSF. In the latter case, a monotone area-bivector defect is found in $\mathbb R^{2,1}$, which gives a quantitative obstruction to point collapse. Explicit examples of spacelike curves with lightlike tangent limit are given.

One-forms, spectral Einstein functionals and the noncommutative residue

For two one-forms and the Dirac operator, Dabrowski etc. recovered the spectral Einstein functionals by computing their noncommutative residue in Theorem 4.1 \cite{DL}. In this paper, we generalize the results of Dabrowski etc. to the cases of four dimensional spin manifolds with boundary.

Sobolev regularity of compactified 3-manifolds and the ADM Center of Mass

In this paper we address the existence of preferred asymptotic coordinates on asymptotically Euclidean (AE) manifolds $(M^3,g)$ such that $g$ admits an asymptotically Schwarzschildian first order expansion, based purely on a priori geometric conditions, which will then be used to establish geometric criteria guaranteeing the convergence of the ADM center of mass (COM). This problem is analysed relating it to the study of the regularity of conformal compactifications of such manifolds, which is itself explored via elliptic theory for operators with coefficients of very limited regularity. With these related problems in mind, we first establish Sobolev regularity properties of conformally compactified AE 3-manifolds via the decay of the Cotton tensor, improving on previous results. This allows us to construct preferred asymptotic coordinates on such AE manifolds where the metric has a first order Schwarzschildian expansion, which in turn allows us to address a version of a conjecture posed by C. Cederbaum and A. Sakovich concerning the convergence of the COM of such manifolds.
