On a conjecture by Michael Wemyss regarding the calculation of GV invariants

Abstract

Contraction algebras are noncommutative algebras introduced by Donovan and Wemyss to classify of 3-dimensional flops. Wemyss conjectures that contraction algebras can be deformed to a single semisimple algebra. This gives an intrinsic method of calculating Gopakumar-Vafa invariants of the flop. The main result is a proof of Wemyss' conjecture for types A and D. In the course of the proof, we recall and introduce new techniques for constructing flat deformations of associative algebras and compare various notions of deformations. We also put forward two conjectures which hint towards a deeper theory.

The Auslander--Reiten conjecture for quantum complete intersections

Let \(A\) be a finite-dimensional quantum complete intersection over an arbitrary field. We prove that a finite-dimensional left \(A\)-module \(M\) is projective whenever \(\Ext_A^1(M,M)=\Ext_A^2(M,M)=0\), with no restriction on the multiplicative orders of the commutation parameters. Consequently, \(A\) satisfies the Auslander--Reiten conjecture and Tachikawa's second conjecture. The proof combines the gradability of rigid modules with successive graded twists and the self-extension criterion of Avramov and Buchweitz for commutative complete intersections. We derive a formula comparing ordinary self-extension groups under graded twisting, apply the resulting criterion to the Liu--Schulz algebras, and describe the successive twists explicitly in the four-generator case.

Gorenstein homological dimension of group extensions

We study the Gorenstein homological dimension $Ghd_k G$ of groups $G$ which are of type $FP_{\infty}$ over a commutative ring $k$. Our main result shows that, over an arbitrary ring $R$, every finitely presented Gorenstein flat $R$-module is projectively coresolved Gorenstein flat. Consequently, for a group $G$ of type $FP_\infty$ over $k$ with sfli$k<\infty$, the three natural dimensions for $G$, namely Gorenstein homological, Gorenstein cohomological and projectively coresolved Gorenstein flat, all coincide. Building on this collapse, we establish a Gorenstein homological analogue of Fel$'$dman's theorem, a formula for iterated $m$-fold self-extensions of a group $N$ of type $FP_\infty$ over $\mathbb Z$, and a field-detection theorem, showing that the Gorenstein homological dimension of a group of type $FP_\infty$ over a principal ideal domain is realized after passing to a suitable field.

Extending Structures for $n$-Lie Algebras

Motivated by the Casas-Loday-Pirashvili maps concerning representations of $n$-Leibniz algebras, we give an intrinsic characterization of the cohomology of $n$-Lie algebras with coefficient in a representation space $V$. We investigated the cohomology theory of $n$-Lie algebras in three different ways: cohomology theory of Leibniz algebras, infinitesimal deformation and abelian extension. In the main part of this paper, we solve the extending problems for $n$-Lie algebras. A necessary and sufficient unified-product criterion is obtained. The case of crossed products, sparse non-abelian extensions, matched pairs are studied as special cases. We also investigate the factorizations, deformation maps, and complements problem for $n$-Lie algebras. An appendix removes the general non-reduced unified product with all intermediate mixed components.
