Rigidity from the strong unstable foliation for higher-dimensional Anosov and partially hyperbolic flows

Abstract

Recently Burniol Clotet proved that two transitive Anosov flows on 3-manifolds with equivalent strong unstable foliations must be conjugate up to time rescaling. We further explore the mechanism of Burniol Clotet's argument and treat the case of higher-dimensional Anosov flows and their isometric extensions by compact Lie groups.

Partially hyperbolic geodesic flow via conformal deformation

This paper presents a new construction of non-Anosov Partially Hyperbolic Geodesic flows. Our construction is closely related to the construction made by Carneiro and Pujals, the novelty is the use of conformal deformations to produce the examples. Some of the necessary conditions appear more naturally and are easier to check. Besides that, we could enumerate the conditions required to produce partially hyperbolic geodesic flow examples. We show how to produce examples with metrics that are non-positively curved and with a finner analysis we can prove ergodicity for the Liouville measure and uniqueness of the measure of maximal entropy. These examples lie on the boundary of Anosov metrics, allowing us to also produce metrics with partially hyperbolic geodesic flows and conjugate points.

Monotonicity, global symplectification and the stability of Dry Ten Martini Problem

We prove that, for every irrational frequency and every analytic Type I potential, each supercritical spectral energy satisfying the gap-labelling condition is an endpoint of an open spectral gap. This establishes the conjecture of Ge--Jitomirskaya--You \cite{GJY,You} in the supercritical regime. Consequently, the ``all gaps open'' property of the supercritical almost Mathieu operator persists under sufficiently small analytic perturbations. The main ingredient is a global symplectification of the center bundle that preserves quantitative monotonicity. This allows us to study gap opening through the center dynamics of the dual long-range operator, which has no natural Schrödinger form. We first establish the result for trigonometric polynomial potentials and then pass to general analytic potentials by controlling the dependence on the truncation dimension. The proof combines a discrete Hellmann--Feynman identity, dimension-free Aubry duality in weighted analytic norms, and a quantitative cone argument based on pre-monotonicity. These estimates ensure that the gaps survive in the analytic limit. Our results establish analytic stability of the Dry Ten Martini Problem in the supercritical regime and give a partial answer to a question of M. Shamis on the persistence of periodic spectral gaps.

A codimension-5 Hopf bifurcation yielding 5 limit cycles in a SIRS epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate

In a recent paper published in the Journal of Differential Equations (384, 2024), Cui and Zhao investigated an SIRS epidemic model with the nonlinear incidence rate $\frac{kI^p}{1+αI^q}$, where $p>0$ and $q\geq0$ are arbitrary real numbers. They proved that the codimension of a Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation in this model is at most two, while the codimension of the Hopf bifurcation was left as an open problem. In this work, we investigate this problem while keeping $p$ and $q$ free throughout the analysis. A strategic nondimensionalization and parametrization remove the exponential dependence of the positive equilibrium and convert the generalized-Hopf conditions into algebraic focus equations coupled to explicit semialgebraic admissibility regions. Using algebraic focus reduction, strict semialgebraic admissibility, and validated interval computation, we rigorously prove the existence of admissible nondegenerate generalized Hopf points generating three, four, and five small-amplitude limit cycles. In particular, we rigorously certify a strict-interior codimension-five weak focus and a full-rank local unfolding, thereby proving that five small-amplitude limit cycles can bifurcate from a single positive equilibrium. We further derive exact algebraic obstructions to codimension six and find no admissible candidate in extensive continuation and projected-component searches. These results provide analytical and numerical evidence for the conjecture that five is maximal, but no codimension-six nonexistence theorem is claimed. The same parametrization also yields a simple proof that the Bogdanov-Takens codimension is at most two.
