Hyperelliptic sigma solutions of polynomial Hamiltonian systems

Abstract

We study polynomial Hamiltonian systems whose Hamiltonians consist of two weighted products of canonical modes minus a polynomial in their powers. This class extends the structure of familiar genus-one coupled-mode systems from nonlinear optics. We construct local analytic solutions in terms of sigma functions and Abelian integrals on smooth odd-degree hyperelliptic curves, subject to stated degree and regularity conditions. We associate Onishi's determinant identities with the conservation-law structure of these systems, extending the connection previously identified between Frobenius-Stickelberger determinants and conserved quantities in genus-one nonlinear optics. Explicit genus-two and genus-three examples include bounded oscillatory scalar motion. We evaluate the solutions using Generapy, a purpose-built Python package for algebraic curves and Abelian functions, and validate them against independent fourth-order Runge-Kutta integration.

The gauge action on (semi-)discrete Lax representations, its invariants, and Lax-Miura type constructions

We introduce and study explicit invariants with respect to the action of gauge transformations on the set of semi-discrete (differential-difference) matrix Lax representations (MLRs) for a given (1+1)-dimensional evolutionary differential-difference equation with any number of components. Using these invariants, we obtain the following general results: - Sufficient conditions for nonremovability of parameters in semi-discrete MLRs. (Nonremovability by means of gauge transformations.) - Necessary conditions for two semi-discrete MLRs to be gauge equivalent. Effective use of these results is demonstrated. We present the general theory and apply it to MLRs for equations of Volterra-Yamilov, Cherdantsev-Yamilov, Toda types and Miura-type modifications. Also, we present a comparison with results of S.Yu. Sakovich and M. Marvan on gauge invariants for (continuous) zero-curvature representations of partial differential equations. Furthermore, we demonstrate procedures for constructing Miura-type transformations (MTs) for discrete (partial difference) equations (on the two-dimensional integer lattice) by means of gauge simplifications of discrete matrix Lax pairs (DLPs) and reductions of auxiliary systems associated with DLPs. This allows us to construct new MTs for (non-evolutionary) 4-point and 6-point discrete equations from [D. Levi, R.I. Yamilov, J. Phys. A 2009], [S. Konstantinou-Rizos, A.V. Mikhailov, P. A generalized long-wave limit method with spectral perturbations

We develop a generalized long-wave limit method for constructing higher-order (degenerate) lump solutions of $(2+1)$-dimensional integrable systems. Starting from the multi-soliton tau function, we introduce wavenumber rescalings, spectral perturbations, and higher-order phase modulations in a single small parameter, and choose their coefficients so that the lower-order Taylor coefficients vanish. Applying this framework to the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili I equation, we explicitly derive second-order two- and three-lump solutions as well as third-order three-, four-, five-, and six-lump solutions. The long-time asymptotics of the peak positions and amplitudes describe anomalous scattering of these degenerate lump solutions. Extensions to hybrid higher-order lump solutions associated with multiple distinct spectral parameters are also discussed.

Realization of several related $(2+1)$-dimensional integrable systems via an anti-self-dual Yang--Mills reduction

We derive several integrable equations in $(2+1)$ dimensions from the anti-self-dual Yang--Mills (ASDYM) equations with gauge group $G=\mathrm{GL}(2,\mathbb C)$ by imposing a single one-dimensional constraint on the ASDYM matrices. The resulting systems include the $(2+1)$-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation, a $(2+1)$-dimensional generalized derivative NLS family encompassing the Gerdjikov--Ivanov, Chen--Lee--Liu, and Kaup--Newell equations, and the $(2+1)$-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnetic (HF) equation. The $(1+1)$-dimensional Wadati--Konno--Ichikawa equation is also recovered through a reciprocal transformation of the HF equation. The nonlinear variables and the associated gauge transformations are expressed explicitly in terms of the entries of the ASDYM matrices. The same one-dimensional constraint is implemented in the Cauchy matrix framework, yielding explicit solutions of the reduced integrable equations. In this formulation, the ASD Yang--Mills Lagrangian density is expressed in terms of a $τ$-function; for suitable exponential data, this $τ$-function becomes a Grammian-type $τ$-function of the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili equaton. The studies are extended to $\mathrm{GL}(M,\mathbb C)$ at the matrix level.
