Gauge-Covariant Wavelets for Quark-Propagator Sparsening and Distillation in Lattice QCD

Abstract

We develop a novel gauge-covariant wavelet framework for computing hadronic correlation functions in lattice QCD. Two complementary approaches connect spatial localization and resolution-scale separation to propagator sparsening and distillation. A gauge-covariant fast wavelet transform, based on compactly supported biorthogonal filters, coarse-grains quark propagators and reduces early-time excited-state contamination relative to direct decimation at equal spatial reduction. A second construction applies a resolvent filter of the spatial covariant Laplacian to localized sources, generating a distillation subspace without computing Laplacian eigenpairs. We detail its gauge covariance, smearing profiles, and implementation in exact and stochastic distillation. Spatial localization enables unbiased Hansen-Hurwitz sampling of hadronic contractions, reducing their computational cost substantially. We also examine momentum aliasing induced by fixed coarse grids and the use of random grid shifts to remove unwanted contributions in expectation. Numerical benchmarks of the proposed methods are performed with single hadrons, the I = 2 two-pion system, the deuteron channel, and boosted nucleons. The extracted energy levels agree very well with full or conventional distillation calculations within statistical uncertainties. We quantify the costs of on-demand basis construction and contractions, demonstrate contraction speedups at comparable statistical precision. These studies establish a practical foundation of wavelet-based propagator compression and operator construction for multi-operator calculations of hadronic and nuclear systems, particularly at larger lattice volumes.

Tame the Umklapp Processes in Real-Time Lattice Simulation for Hydrodynamics: An Ising Field Theory Study

We calculate the real-time symmetric correlation function of the stress-energy tensor for a near-integrable Ising field theory consisting of three stable scalar particles via lattice Hamiltonian simulation. Using classical exact diagonalization and the matrix product state tensor network methods, we find that in the scaling region of the lattice theory, Umklapp processes that break continuum momentum conservation are suppressed and the sound modes of relativistic hydrodynamics emerge at long wavelength and late time in non-equilibrium dynamics. The extracted ratio of bulk viscosity to entropy density is $ζ/s=3.06\pm 0.68$ and the speed of sound is $c_s/c=0.76 \pm 0.02$ at the temperature $T\approx 7.14$ in units of the lowest stable particle's mass. Our study demonstrates the utility of real-time lattice Hamiltonian simulation for describing hydrodynamization and calculating transport coefficients nonperturbatively.

One-loop mixing matrix of the N=1 SYM Supercurrent operator upon renormalization on the Lattice using stout-smeared Links

We extend the perturbative investigation of the renormalization and mixing patterns of the supercurrent operator in lattice ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, using stout-smeared gauge links. We employ the SLiNC action for gluinos and a family of Symanzik improved gauge actions for gluons. Building upon previous studies employing clover-improved fermions and the Wilson gauge action, we compute the one-loop mixing matrix of the supercurrent operator among gauge-invariant and gauge-variant operators. Particular emphasis is placed on the structure of operator mixing in the presence of stout smearing parameters. Our results contribute toward refining fine-tuning strategies necessary for the restoration of supersymmetry in the continuum limit, and provide a stepping stone for future perturbative and nonperturbative investigations in supersymmetric theories on the lattice.

Symmetries of spatial correlators of light and heavy mesons in high temperature lattice QCD

The spatial $z$ correlators of meson operators in $N_f=2+1+1$ lattice QCD with optimal domain-wall quarks at the physical point are studied for seven temperatures in the range of 190--1540 MeV. The meson operators include a complete set of Dirac bilinears (scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial vector, tensor vector, and axial-tensor vector), and each for six flavor combinations ($\bar u d$, $\bar u s$, $\bar s s$, $\bar u c$, $\bar s c$, and $\bar c c$). In a recent paper [Phys. Rev. D \textbf{107}, 114501 (2023)], I focused on the meson correlators of $u$ and $d$ quarks, and discussed their implications for the effective restoration of $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ and $U(1)_A$ chiral symmetries, as well as the emergence of approximate $SU(2)_{CS}$ chiral spin symmetry. In this work, we extend our study to meson correlators of six flavor contents, and first observe the hierarchical restoration of chiral symmetries in QCD, from $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \times U(1)_A $ to $SU(3)_L \times SU(3)_R \times U(1)_A $, and to $SU(4)_L \times SU(4)_R \times U(1)_A $, as the temperature is increased from 190 to 1540 MeV. Moreover, we compare the temperature windows for the emergence of the approximate $SU(2)_{CS}$ symmetry in light and heavy vector mesons, and find that the temperature windows are dominated by the $(\bar u c, \bar s c, \bar c c)$ sectors.
