Dark Matter Interpretations of the Galactic Center Gamma-Ray Excess with 18 Years of Fermi-LAT Data and the FL16Y Source Catalog

Abstract

We investigate dark matter (DM) interpretations of the Galactic Center Excess (GCE) using 17.7 years of Fermi-LAT data and the FL16Y source catalog. We test 80 Galactic diffuse-emission models and include correlated systematic uncertainties from Galactic-plane control regions. We derive combined 95\% CL annihilation limits from 30 dwarf spheroidal galaxies (dSphs), including $J$-factor uncertainties, and compare the GCE-preferred regions with these limits and AMS-02 antiproton bounds. For self-conjugate DM, we study two-body annihilation, effective $4b$, $4τ$, and $2b2τ$ channels, and cascades through on-shell scalar mediators. For Model X, the best-fitting diffuse-emission model in our template analysis including a DM component, the dSph limits exclude the 68\% CL GCE regions for $b\bar b$, $c\bar c$, light quarks, gluons, and effective $4b$ and $2b2τ$. Parts of the $τ^+τ^-$ and effective $4τ$ regions remain compatible, although their best-fit points exceed these limits. Heavy two-body final states are less constrained but fit the GCE less well. Mediator masses affect both the preferred regions and the constraints. Part of the 68\% CL $4b$ cascade region remains below the dSph limits for $r=m_{\rm mediator}/m_{\rm DM}\lesssim0.4$. Among the four-body benchmarks, $4τ$ retains a comparatively large preferred region compatible with dSph and antiproton bounds. With the adopted BIG propagation model, antiproton bounds are generally weaker but constrain part of the $4b$ cascade region. Finally, we examine a secluded singlet fermionic DM benchmark with a predominantly four-bottom cascade.

Exceptional Jordan spectra and conditional fermion mass relations

We formulate a conditional fermion-mass ansatz motivated by the exceptional Jordan algebra, separating its geometric order parameters from the physical chiral matter representation. A real coassociative octonionic configuration has Jordan spectrum $(s-δ,s,s+δ)$; the choice $δ^2=3/8$ specifies its normalization rather than a derived physical mass scale. An explicit compression of a positive operator on $Sym^3(C^3)$ reproduces the proposed quark mass formulas for stated weight selections. The selected three-dimensional spaces are not $SU(3)$ subrepresentations, and the charged-lepton formulas require an additional cross-sector transport rule. Eliminating the spectral parameter yields exact consistency relations, including $\sqrt{m_c/m_u}=2\sqrt{m_t/m_c}-1$. A common-scale comparison using a published 2026 Standard-Model running-Yukawa analysis, supplemented by PDG 2026 checks, exhibits substantial discrepancies. In particular, the up-sector relation fails at the electroweak benchmark even when $δ$ is released. We identify the interaction, localization and kinetic-normalization data needed to derive or modify the ansatz. The construction retains a geometric interpretation but establishes neither three generations inside a single $E_6$ representation $27$ nor a precision explanation of the measured fermion masses.

High-Energy Evolution of Power-Suppressed Amplitudes

We present a new class of evolution equations which govern the high-energy behavior of power-suppressed scattering amplitudes. The equations can be viewed as a renormalization group flow with respect to the relevant effective field theory cutoff. A distinct feature of the method is in the use of a multidimensional cutoff to separate the relevant scales in problems characterized by a complex factorization structure. By adjusting the renormalization group variables to the geometry of the effective theory modes, our method naturally extends to a broad spectrum of physical problems including massive, massless, small, and wide angle scattering. We present applications to the benchmark processes of electron-positron forward annihilation and light quark mediated Higgs boson production/decays.

Direct Detection of Leptophobic Dark Matter with Electronic Collective Excitations

Some new-generation dark matter detection experiments are primarily designed to search for the dark matter-electron interactions, but they can also be utilized to probe models in which dark matter couples exclusively to nucleon via the quantum effects. The hadronic loop-induced interactions can directly excite plasmons in semiconductors, thereby providing an additional channel for detecting the leptophobic dark matter. In this work, we investigate plasmon excitations in silicon detectors induced by boosted dark matter and cosmic-ray up-scattering dark matter via the hadronic loop process. By analyzing the available experimental data, we derive new exclusion limits on the leptophobic dark matter-nucleon scattering cross section in the sub-MeV mass range.
