Resonant Inverse Photoelectron Spectroscopy of Ce and U Oxides
Abstract
The soft x-ray Resonant Inverse Photoelectron Spectroscopy (RIPES) of the M5 transition in cerium oxide and the N5 transition in uranium dioxide and supporting instrumentation is discussed. Further experimental evidence and analysis is presented to support the hypothesis that the Ce 5d states are intrinsic to the resonance process in cerium oxide. The strong connection with cerium dioxide is emphasized.
