Biderivations of Null-Filiform and Filiform Zinbiel Algebras

Abstract

A biderivation of an algebra is a bilinear map which is a derivation in each argument. We describe all biderivations of finite-dimensional complex null-filiform and filiform Zinbiel algebras. For the n-dimensional null-filiform algebra, every biderivation is determined by an arbitrary value at its generating pair; the space of biderivations has dimension n and consists entirely of symmetric maps. For the three standard filiform families, we give explicit bases and determine their symmetric and skew-symmetric parts. We also treat all filiform algebras of dimensions at most four, including the exceptional families not covered by the classification in dimensions at least five. A three-dimensional algebra admits a three-dimensional space of skew-symmetric biderivations, two of which have values outside its annihilator. Up to isomorphism, it is the unique complex filiform Zinbiel algebra with this property. The proofs use generators, annihilator-valued maps, a truncated polynomial model, and conformal endomorphisms of bilinear forms.

Stack Constructions and Equality Cases for Laffey's Bound for Maximal Commutative Matrix Algebras

We study equality cases in Laffey's lower bound for local maximal commutative subalgebras of matrix algebras with cube-zero radical. We introduce a stacking operation that combines algebras with common outer Loewy layers while preserving maximal commutativity. This yields standard equality bricks $B_{a,c}=(a,ac+1,c;a+c)$ for all $a,c\ge2$ and reduces further constructions to smaller building blocks. We establish the existence of all minimal equality bricks on the balanced branch and obtain sharp realizations throughout the $(4,5)$-sector. We also construct the first nontrivial nearly balanced root over arbitrary fields. We determine the balanced--nearly-balanced envelope of the numerical Laffey profile and give an arithmetic criterion for preservation of sharpness under stacking. As a consequence, the profile is attained in every matrix dimension $14\le n\le52$ and $93\le n\le114$, as well as along five infinite families over arbitrary fields. The main existence and interval results are proved in characteristic zero; the field-independent constructions are stated explicitly.

Group-graded Ore extensions and graded simplicity

We study Ore extensions $R[t;σ,δ]$ of rings graded by an arbitrary group $Γ$. The grading of $R$ extends with $t$ of degree $γ$ if and only if $σ$ is compatible with conjugation by $γ$ and $δ$ with left translation by $γ$. The extended grading is then unique. For nonabelian $Γ$ the degree of $t$ need not commute with the degrees of $R$, and this twist cannot always be removed. If $R$ is gr-simple and $σ$ is an automorphism, then $R[t;σ,δ]$ is gr-simple if and only if it has no homogeneous normal element that is monic of positive $t$-degree. The quantized Weyl algebra shows that the graded forms of the classical necessary conditions do not suffice. Over a group algebra $kG$, these extensions correspond to actions of $G$ on the affine line, and gr-simplicity means that the action has no finite orbit. In characteristic zero this is the nonvanishing of a class in $H^1(G,k_χ)$, and simplicity forces $G$ to be metabelian. We prove the analogous results for Poisson polynomial rings and relate the two settings by semiclassical limits.
