Scalar Non-standard Interactions in Type-II Seesaw
Abstract
We study the theoretical origin of scalar non-standard interactions (SNSI) in an \(A_4\)-symmetric Type-II seesaw model. The model contains an \(SU(2)_L\) scalar triplet \(Δ\) and a real scalar singlet \(S\). After electroweak symmetry breaking, their CP-even neutral fluctuations mix to form two physical scalar states \(ϕ_1\) and \(ϕ_2\). These physical scalars couple to both neutrinos and charged leptons, establishing a connection between the neutrino sector and ordinary matter through scalar interactions. This induces a matter-dependent correction to the Type-II seesaw neutrino mass matrix. The SNSI contribution, governed by the relevant Yukawa couplings and the SNSI coefficient, can enhance or suppress the neutrino masses relative to their vacuum values. The model provides a simple and consistent description of how scalar mixing can give rise to SNSI and connects neutrino interactions in matter with the underlying structure of the scalar sector.
