Finite-Time Tracking Success or Failure in the Pursuer--Evader Model
Abstract
We investigate a sufficient framework for determining the success or failure of finite-time tracking in pursuer--evader dynamics. To this end, we design a nonsmooth coupled multi-agent system by adopting a previously established pursuer--evader model from the existing literature, which characterizes asymptotic tracking success and failure, as the backbone. We then provide appropriate sufficient conditions, expressed in terms of initial data, system parameters, and kernel functionals, under which some pursuers can successfully track evaders within a finite time, while others fail to do so. In particular, we show that the pursuer--evader subsystem associated with the pursuers that successfully track the evader, together with the corresponding evaders, exhibits finite-time stability.
