Cobordism of singular maps

Abstract

We prove a conjecture due to M. Kazarian, connecting two classifying spaces in singularity theory. These spaces are: - Kazarian's space (generalizing Vassiliev's algebraic complex and) showing which cohomology classes are represented by singularity strata. - Author's space $X_τ$ giving homotopy representation of cobordisms of singular maps with a given list of allowed singularities \cite{R--Sz}. As a consequence we obtain the ranks of cobordism groups of singular maps with a given list of allowed singularities, and also their $p$-torsion parts for big primes $p.$ Further we give complete answer to the problem of elimination of singularities by cobordisms. Obtain very clear homotopical description of the classifying space $X_τ.$ We reveal some connection of the torsion parts of these cobordism groups to the stable homotopy groups of spheres and values of Thom polynomials.

Algebraic presentation of the bordism category of 2-dimensional CW-complexes

We prove that $S^1$ carries the structure of a unimodular cocommutative Hopf algebra in the bordism category 2CW of 2-equivalence classes of 2-dimensional CW-complexes and that 2CW is actually equivalent to the symmetric monoidal category freely generated by such a Hopf algebra. The proof proceeds by constructing an equivalence between 2CW and a category of finite relative group presentations. Finally, we show that the algebraic structure of the category 4HB of 2-equivalence classes of orientable 4-dimensional 2-handlebodies refines that of 2CW.

Smoothing of singular intersections of ellipsoids: pyramitoid

The goal of this work is to continue the study the smoothings of 3-dimensional manifolds with singularities obtained as small covers of non simple right-angle Coxeter polyhedral orbifolds. They appear in the study of coaxial intersections of ellipsoids. In particular we introduce the concept of $n$-pyramitoid generalizing the $n$-pyramid.

Computation of unknotting numbers: which knot breaks the Bernhard-Jablan Conjecture

We determine $2,540$ unknotting numbers of prime knots with at most $13$ crossings, that are unknown in the KnotInfo snapshot of 9 September 2026. The lower-bound calculations use Heegaard Floer correction-term obstructions and Greene's spanning-tree model. We also give explicit crossing-change constructions for upper bounds. For $959$ alternating knots with range $[2,3]$, we verify that no crossing change in a minimal diagram gives a knot of unknotting number one. We determine the unknotting numbers of all four knots in Brittenham and Hermiller's construction and thereby identify 13n3370 as an explicit counterexample to the original Bernhard-Jablan conjecture.
