Compensator-free $\mathcal N=2$ extension of ModMax and scalar propagation

We construct a compensator-free $\mathcal N=2$ superconformal and electric--magnetic duality-invariant extension of ModMax electrodynamics in ordinary flat superspace. The action is built entirely from the Abelian vector multiplet, using a derivative composite of its field strength, and the self-duality equation is solved to all orders as a formal series in the coupling. Upon setting the additional $\mathcal N=1$ chiral multiplet to zero, the action is equivalent off shell to the $\mathcal N=1$ ModMax action of Bandos, Lechner, Sorokin and Townsend through a local vector-prepotential redefinition. Since the complex scalar of the $\mathcal N=2$ multiplet is set to zero in this reduction, we add one superconformal interaction that leaves the reduction unchanged and is chosen to ensure causal scalar propagation. On constant non-null electromagnetic backgrounds with vanishing scalar expectation value, the higher-order scalar coefficients are fixed by requiring the scalar quadratic action to satisfy the stress-tensor square-root flow, modulo equations of motion and a total derivative. We determine the quadratic action of the full multiplet on these backgrounds to all orders. Its analytic continuation to finite $γ\geq0$ gives causal scalar propagation, with transverse speed squared $e^{-γ}$ and unit longitudinal speed, the ModMax photon cones, luminal gauginos with positive kinetic coefficients, and auxiliary fields with algebraic equations of motion.

Five-dimensional non-Abelian supersymmetric Chern-Simons action in Projective Superspace

In this paper, we derive the five-dimensional non-Abelian $\mathcal{N}=1$ Chern-Simons action from its established definition of variation with respect to an infinitesimal deformation of the vector prepotential in a projective superspace setting. It has been a long-standing open problem how to integrate this variation. Now, thanks to the simplicity of a projective superspace technique, we have been finally able to obtain this term. As a bonus, we also give the supersymmetric Yang-Mills action with a half measure as well.

New techniques for Gauge Theories in Projective Superspace

We introduce new techniques for calculations in Gauge theories with extended supersymmetry. We are working in Projective Superspace where the $SU(2)$ R-symmetry is realized geometrically by including an auxilliary $\mathbb{CP}^1$ component in the superspace. Different gauge representations are associated with different dependence on the $\mathbb{CP}^1$ coordinate $ζ$ and using contour integrals on $\mathbb{CP}^1$ we define natural projection operators on these different representations which leads to elegant formulas for all relevant objects. The new techniques lead to compact expressions for lagrangians and field strengths in terms of the gauge prepotential but also to effective ways of reducing superspace expressions to components, i.e. to write them in terms of fields transforming covariantly only under a subgroup of the supersymmetry group. We illustrate our findings in several examples in three and four dimensions.

$\mathcal{N} = 2$ super Yang-Mills theory in Projective Superspace

We find a formulation of $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in Projective superspace. In particular we find an expression for the field strength in terms of an unconstrained prepotential which is desirable when quantizing the theory. We use this to write the action in terms of the prepotential and show that it reduces to the known result in the abelian limit.
