Active Personal Eye Lens Dosimetry with the Hybrid Pixelated Dosepix Detector

Eye lens dosimetry has been an important field of research in the last decade. Dose measurements with a prototype of an active personal eye lens dosemeter based on the Dosepix detector are presented. The personal dose equivalent at $3\,$mm depth of soft tissue, $H_\text{p}(3)$, was measured in the center front of a water-filled cylinder phantom with a height and diameter of $20\,$cm. The energy dependence of the normalized response is investigated for mean photon energies between $12.4\,$keV and $248\,$keV for continuous reference radiation fields (N-series) according to ISO 4037. The response normalized to N-60 ($\overline{E}=47.9\,\text{keV}$) at $0^\circ$ angle of irradiation stays within the approval limits of IEC 61526 for angles of incidence between $-75^\circ$ and $+75^\circ$. Performance in pulsed photon fields was tested for varying dose rates from $0.1\,\frac{\text{Sv}}{\text{h}}$ up to $1000\,\frac{\text{Sv}}{\text{h}}$ and pulse durations from $1\,\text{ms}$ up to $10\,\text{s}$. The dose measurement works well within the approval limits (acc. to IEC 61526) up to $1\,\frac{\text{Sv}}{\text{h}}$. No significant influence of the pulse duration on the measured dose is found. Reproducibility measurements yield a coefficient of variation which does not exceed $1\,\%$ for two tested eye lens dosemeter prototypes.

Intra-bunch feedback system developments at DAFNE

This paper presents history and evolution of the intra-bunch feedback system for circular accelerators. This pro-ject has been presented by John D. Fox (SLAC/Stanford Un.) at the IPAC2010 held in Kyoto. The idea of the pro-posal is to build a flexible and powerful instrument to mit-igate the parasitic e-cloud effects on the proton (and poten-tially positron) beams in storage rings. Being a new and ambitious project, the financial issues have been quite im-portant. US LHC Accelerator Research Program (LARP) and other institution funding sources have assured the de-velopment of the design for implementing the feedback in the SPS ring at CERN. Here the intra-bunch feedback sys-tem has been installed and tested in the frame of the LIU (LHC Injector Upgrade) program. After the end of the LARP funding, a possible new inter-esting chance to continue the R&D activity, could be by implementing the system in a lepton storage ring affected by e-cloud effects. For achieving this goal, a possible ex-periment could be carried out in the positron ring of DAFNE at Frascati, Italy. The feasibility of the proposal is evaluated in the following sections. In case of approval of the experiment, indeed the project could be inserted in the DAFNE-TF (DAFNE Test Facility) program that is fore-seen after the 2020 for the following 3-5 years.

Jets in QCD

Many analyses at the collider utilize the hadronic jets that are the footprints of QCD partons. These are used both to study the QCD processes themselves and increasingly as tools to study other physics, for example top mass reconstruction. However, jets are not fundamental degrees of freedom in the theory, so we need an {\em operational jet definition} and {\em reliable methods to calculate their properties}. This talk covers both of these important areas of jet physics.
