Quantum enhancement and Doppler suppression of Kasevich-Chu atom interferometer with motional squeezing states

Hybridization of internal and external atomic degrees of freedom in a Kasevich-Chu interferometer enables the possibility to enhance the sensitivity significantly even under quantum-standard limit. By introducing motional squeezing state as an input, we systematically derive the computational framework of quantum and classical Fisher information of two measurement protocols for arbitrary strength of Doppler effects. Through maximizing the corresponding classical Fisher information, we obtain the optimal control parameters and the corresponding quantum Fisher information. For population measurement, the largest sensitivity can be as large as four times than the semi-classical limit through enlarging the atom coherence length. For joint measurement of population and position, the competition between quantum enhancement and Doppler suppression induces two three behaviors, in one regime, the quantum enhancement dominates even in presence of strong Doppler broadening effects where the sensitivity is significantly enhanced; while in another regime, an optimal squeezing parameter is observed where the classical Fisher information reaches the maximum. Our results clearly demonstrate the robustness of external quantum enhancement against Doppler suppression. Our proposal can be readily applied to gravimeter of mobile platform where decoherence from noise will damage the many-body entanglement of internal spin squeezing.

Approximate universality and large measurement gain of Rabi model in a linear potential under strong Doppler broadening

Harnessing quantum resources in the atomic external degrees of freedom, particularly matter-wave states with large momentum broadening, holds significant potential for enhancing the sensitivity of Kasevich-Chu atom gravimeters at the standard quantum limit. However, a fully quantum-mechanical investigation of the critical Doppler effect inherent to this approach remains lacking. Employing SU(2) Lie group theory, we derive a generic scalar Riccati equation governing the unitary dynamics of the Rabi model within a linear potential and analyze the Doppler effect's impact on Rabi oscillations because of the strong coupling between the internal and external states. Furthermore, by integrating Fisher information theory, we demonstrate the approximate universality and high metrological gain of phase-rotation measurement protocols under strong Doppler broadening induced by large-momentum width. This theoretical work provides insightful implications for broader generalization, such as extensions to finite-temperature scenarios or multi-pulse sequences, exemplified by the $\pi/2-\pi-\pi/2$ pulse sequence characteristic of Kasevich-Chu atom gravimeters. Thus this study lays a theoretical foundation for developing high-sensitivity, noise-resistant atom gravimeters that leverage external-state quantum resources.

EMDFNet: Efficient Multi-scale and Diverse Feature Network for Traffic Sign Detection

The detection of small objects, particularly traffic signs, is a critical subtask within object detection and autonomous driving. Despite the notable achievements in previous research, two primary challenges persist. Firstly, the main issue is the singleness of feature extraction. Secondly, the detection process fails to effectively integrate with objects of varying sizes or scales. These issues are also prevalent in generic object detection. Motivated by these challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel object detection network named Efficient Multi-scale and Diverse Feature Network (EMDFNet) for traffic sign detection that integrates an Augmented Shortcut Module and an Efficient Hybrid Encoder to address the aforementioned issues simultaneously. Specifically, the Augmented Shortcut Module utilizes multiple branches to integrate various spatial semantic information and channel semantic information, thereby enhancing feature diversity. The Efficient Hybrid Encoder utilizes global feature fusion and local feature interaction based on various features to generate distinctive classification features by integrating feature information in an adaptable manner. Extensive experiments on the Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100K) benchmark and the German Traffic Sign Detection Benchmark (GTSDB) demonstrate that our EMDFNet outperforms other state-of-the-art detectors in performance while retaining the real-time processing capabilities of single-stage models. This substantiates the effectiveness of EMDFNet in detecting small traffic signs.

Generative Sentiment Analysis via Latent Category Distribution and Constrained Decoding

Fine-grained sentiment analysis involves extracting and organizing sentiment elements from textual data. However, existing approaches often overlook issues of category semantic inclusion and overlap, as well as inherent structural patterns within the target sequence. This study introduces a generative sentiment analysis model. To address the challenges related to category semantic inclusion and overlap, a latent category distribution variable is introduced. By reconstructing the input of a variational autoencoder, the model learns the intensity of the relationship between categories and text, thereby improving sequence generation. Additionally, a trie data structure and constrained decoding strategy are utilized to exploit structural patterns, which in turn reduces the search space and regularizes the generation process. Experimental results on the Restaurant-ACOS and Laptop-ACOS datasets demonstrate a significant performance improvement compared to baseline models. Ablation experiments further confirm the effectiveness of latent category distribution and constrained decoding strategy.

Exact solutions and Dynamical phase transitions in the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model with Dual nonlinear interactions

Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick (LMG) model is paradigmatic to study quantum phase transition in equilibrium or non-equilibrium systems and entanglement dynamics in a variety of disciplines. The generic LMG model usually incorporates two nonlinear interactions. While the classical dynamics of the single-nonlinear-inteaction LMG model is well understood through Jacobi elliptic functions, the dualinteraction case remains unexplored due to analytical challenges. Here, by constructing an auxiliary function that maps the dynamics to the complex plane of Jacobi elliptic functions, we derive exact solutions of classical dynamics for the dual-interaction LMG model. Based on the exact solutions, we give the classical dynamical phase diagram of the LMG model with dual nonlinear interactions, and find out a non-logarithmic behavior of dynamical criticality which is absent in case of single nonlinear interaction. Our results establish a benchmark to analyze the quantum dynamical phase transitions and many-body entanglement dynamics of finite-size LMG model.

MovePose: A High-performance Human Pose Estimation Algorithm on Mobile and Edge Devices

We present MovePose, an optimized lightweight convolutional neural network designed specifically for real-time body pose estimation on CPU-based mobile devices. The current solutions do not provide satisfactory accuracy and speed for human posture estimation, and MovePose addresses this gap. It aims to maintain real-time performance while improving the accuracy of human posture estimation for mobile devices. Our MovePose algorithm has attained an Mean Average Precision (mAP) score of 68.0 on the COCO \cite{cocodata} validation dataset. The MovePose algorithm displayed efficiency with a performance of 69+ frames per second (fps) when run on an Intel i9-10920x CPU. Additionally, it showcased an increased performance of 452+ fps on an NVIDIA RTX3090 GPU. On an Android phone equipped with a Snapdragon 8 + 4G processor, the fps reached above 11. To enhance accuracy, we incorporated three techniques: deconvolution, large kernel convolution, and coordinate classification methods. Compared to basic upsampling, deconvolution is trainable, improves model capacity, and enhances the receptive field. Large kernel convolution strengthens these properties at a decreased computational cost. In summary, MovePose provides high accuracy and real-time performance, marking it a potential tool for a variety of applications, including those focused on mobile-side human posture estimation. The code and models for this algorithm will be made publicly accessible.

Joint Coordinate Regression and Association For Multi-Person Pose Estimation, A Pure Neural Network Approach

We introduce a novel one-stage end-to-end multi-person 2D pose estimation algorithm, known as Joint Coordinate Regression and Association (JCRA), that produces human pose joints and associations without requiring any post-processing. The proposed algorithm is fast, accurate, effective, and simple. The one-stage end-to-end network architecture significantly improves the inference speed of JCRA. Meanwhile, we devised a symmetric network structure for both the encoder and decoder, which ensures high accuracy in identifying keypoints. It follows an architecture that directly outputs part positions via a transformer network, resulting in a significant improvement in performance. Extensive experiments on the MS COCO and CrowdPose benchmarks demonstrate that JCRA outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in both accuracy and efficiency. Moreover, JCRA demonstrates 69.2 mAP and is 78\% faster at inference acceleration than previous state-of-the-art bottom-up algorithms. The code for this algorithm will be publicly available.

Tunable quantum switcher and router of cold atom matter waves using artificial magnetic fields

We investigate the single-atom transport in a two-leg ladder with only two rungs, which together with the legs, enclose an artificial magnetic flux. Here, the atoms on the two legs possess opposite onsite energies that produce an energy offeset. We find that the atom incoming from the left leg can experience from blockade to tranparency via modifying the onsite energy, hopping strength, or magnetic flux, which can be potentially used for a quantum switcher. Furthermore, the atom incoming from the left leg can also be perfectly routed into the right leg, when, intriguingly, the outgoing atom in the R channel possesses a wavevector that can be modulated by the magnetic flux. The result may be potentially used for the interface that controls the communication between two individual quantum devices of cold atoms. The method can also be generalized to other artificial quantum systems, such as superconducting quantum circuit system, optomechanical system, etc.

Enhanced Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov and Sarma superfluid states near an orbital Feshbach resonance

We investigate the inhomogeneous Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) and homogeneous Sarma superfluid states in alkaline-earth-like $^{173}$Yb atomic gases near an orbital Feshbach resonance at zero temperature with population imbalances in both the open and closed channels (or bands). We find that in homogeneous space by adjusting the open-channel Zeeman energy $h_o$, both the Sarma and Fulde-Ferrell superfluid states are greatly enhanced by the spin-exchange interaction while the closed-channel Zeeman energy $h_c$ remains small. In the presence of an external harmonic trap, the trapped gas features a shell structure of separated phases, where the Sarma phase leaves detectable valley structure in the columnar-integrated momentum distribution, and the Fulde-Ferrell state acquires enhanced spatial anisotropy. As both signatures can be easily detected in time-of-flight images, our findings are helpful to realize and detect the long-sought FFLO and Sarma superfluid states at the same time in experiments.

Tunable spinful matter wave valve

We investigate the transport problem that a spinful matter wave is incident on a strong localized spin-orbit-coupled Bose-Einstein condensate in optical lattices, where the localization is admitted by atom interaction only existing at one particular site, and the spin-orbit coupling arouse spatial rotation of the spin texture. We find that tuning the spin orientation of the localized Bose-Einstein condensate can lead to spin-nonreciprocal / spin-reciprocal transport, meaning the transport properties are dependent on / independent of the spin orientation of incident waves. In the former case, we obtain the conditions to achieve transparency, beam-splitting, and blockade of the incident wave with a given spin orientation, and furthermore the ones to perfectly isolate incident waves of different spin orientation, while in the latter, we obtain the condition to maximize the conversion of different spin states. The result may be useful to develop a novel spinful matter wave valve that integrates spin switcher, beam-splitter, isolator, and converter. The method can also be applied to other real systems, e.g., realizing perfect isolation of spin states in magnetism, which is otherwise rather difficult.

Tunable ground states in helical $p$-wave Josephson junctions

We study new types of Josephson junctions composed of helical $p$-wave superconductors with $k_{x}\hat{x}\pm k_{y}\hat{y}$ and $k_{y}\hat{x}\pm k_{x}\hat{y}$-pairing symmetries using quasiclassical Green's functions with the generalized Riccati parametrization. The junctions can host rich ground states: $\pi$ phase, $0+\pi$ phase, $\varphi_{0}$ phase and $\varphi$ phase. The phase transition can be tuned by rotating the magnetization in the ferromagnetic interface. We present the phase diagrams in the parameter space formed by the orientation of the magnetization or by the magnitude of the interfacial potentials. The selection rules for the lowest order current which are responsible for the formation of the rich phases are summarized from the current-phase relations based on the numerical calculation. We construct a Ginzburg-Landau type of free energy for the junctions with ${\bf{d}}$-vectors and the magnetization, which not only reveals the interaction forms of spin-triplet superconductivity and ferromagnetism but also can directly leads to the selection rules. In addition, the energies of the Andreev bound states and the novel symmetries in the current-phase relations are also investigated. Our results are helpful both in the prediction of the novel Josephson phases and in the design of the quantum circuits.

Topological superradiant state in Fermi gases with cavity induced spin-orbit coupling

Coherently driven atomic gases inside optical cavities hold great promise for generating rich dynamics and exotic states of matter. It was shown recently that an exotic topological superradiant state exists in a two-component degenerate Fermi gas coupled to a cavity, where local order parameters coexist with global topological invariants. In this work, we characterize in detail various properties of this exotic state, focusing on the feedback interactions between the atoms and the cavity field. In particular, we demonstrate that cavity-induced interband coupling plays a crucial role in inducing the topological phase transition between the conventional and topological superradiant states. We analyze the interesting signatures in the cavity field left by the closing and reopening of the atomic bulk gap across the topological phase boundary and discuss the robustness of the topological superradiant state by investigating the steady-state phase diagram under various conditions. Furthermore, we consider the interaction effect and discuss the interplay between the pairing order in atomic ensembles and the superradiance of the cavity mode. Our work provides many valuable insights into the unique cavity--atom hybrid system under study and is helpful for future experimental exploration of the topological superradiant state.

Swallowtail Structure in Fermi Superfluids with Periodically Modulated Interactions

We study the superfluid flow in a quasi-one-dimensional Fermi gas with spatially modulated interactions induced by an optical Feshbach resonance. Due to the competition between the periodicity of the modulated interaction and the nonlinearity of the background interaction, an interesting swallowtail structure emerges in the energy spectrum under appropriate parameters. As the interaction strengths are tuned, the swallowtail structure may disappear, giving rise to various different states on a rich phase diagram. We investigate the spatial distribution of the order parameter and the particle density under various parameters, which are useful for the experimental detection of the interesting phases in these systems.
