May we verify non existing dispersion free ensembles by application of quantum mechanics in experiments at perceptive and cognitive level?

Von Neumann in 1932 was the first to outline the possible non existence of dispersion free ensembles in quantum mechanics, and he used also such basic evidence to give a preliminary proof on incompatibility between quantum mechanics and (non-contextual) hidden variables theory. In the present paper we give a detailed theoretical elaboration on the manner in which such fundamental subject could be explored at perceptive and cognitive level in humans. We also discuss a general design of the experiment that we have in progress so to give direct indications to other researchers engaged in such field.

An Investigation on the Basic Conceptual Foundations of Quantum Mechanics by Using the Clifford Algebra

We review our approach to quantum mechanics adding also some new interesting results. We start by giving proof of two important theorems on the existence of the and Clifford algebras. This last algebra gives proof of the von Neumann basic postulates on the quantum measurement explaining thus in an algebraic manner the wave function collapse postulated in standard quantum theory. In this manner we reach the objective to expose a self-consistent version of quantum mechanics. We give proof of the quantum like Heisenberg uncertainty relations, the phenomenon of quantum Mach Zender interference as well as quantum collapse in some cases of physical interest We also discuss the problem of time evolution of quantum systems as well as the changes in space location. We also give demonstration of the Kocken-Specher theorem, and also we give an algebraic formulation and explanation of the EPR . By using the same approach we also derive Bell inequalities. Our formulation is strongly based on the use of idempotents that are contained in Clifford algebra. Their counterpart in quantum mechanics is represented by the projection operators that are interpreted as logical statements, following the basic von Neumann results. Using the Clifford algebra we are able to invert such result. According to the results previously obtained by Orlov in 1994, we are able to give proof that quantum mechanics derives from logic. We show that indeterminism and quantum interference have their origin in the logic.

Mental states follow quantum mechanics during perception and cognition of ambiguous figures

Processes undergoing quantum mechanics, exhibit quantum interference effects. In this case quantum probabilities result to be different from classical probabilities because they contain an additional main point that in fact is called the quantum interference term. We use ambiguous figures to analyse if during perception cognition of human subjects we have violation of the classical probability field and quantum interference. The experiments, conducted on a group of 256 subjects, evidence that we have such quantum effect. Therefore, mental states, during perception cognition of ambiguous figures, follow quantum mechanics

Evidence of Low Dimensional Chaos in Glow Curves of Thermoluminescence

Electron trapping following exposition to ionising radiations and consequent electron release during variation of temperature in solids represent processes happening at the quantum microphysical level. The interesting feature of the thermally stimulated process, that in fact deserves further investigation, is that the dynamic of electrons release during, variation of the temperature, here examined through the so called thermoluminescent Glow Curve, evidences chaotic and fractal regimes. Phase space reconstruction, Correlation Dimension, largest Lyapunov exponent, Recurrence Quantification Analysis(RQA) and fractal dimension analysis, developed by calculation of Hurst exponent, are performed on three samples. The results unequivocally fix that Glow Curves respond to a chaotic regime. RQA supports such results revealing the inner structure of Glow Curve signals in relation to their properties of recurrence, determinism and intermittency signed from laminarity as well as chaos-chaos and chaos order transitions.

An Application of Chaos Theory for Estimation of Simultaneous Variability of RR-intervals in Heart and Systolic Blood Pressure in Humans

We introduce a new method to estimate BaroReflex Sensitivity (BRS) . The methodology, based on the CZF formulation, recently published (see Conte et al 2008), enables to evaluate simultaneous variability of RR and SBP and to estimate the coupling strength. The technique is applied to subjects (female and men with age ranging from 21 to 28 years old) and it is compared with the results that may be obtained by using the standard Fourier spectral analysis technique. The comparison is also performed by using the technique of Lomb-Scargle periodogram, based on Fourier analysis.

On the Existence of Quantum Wave Function and Quantum Interference Effects in Mental States: An Experimental Confirmation during Perception and Cognition in Humans

We introduce the quantum theoretical formulation to determine a posteriori, if existing, the quantum wave functions and to estimate the quantum interference effects of mental states. Such quantum features are actually found in the case of an experiment involving the perception and the cognition in humans. Also some specific psychological variables are introduced and it is obtained that they characterize in a stringent manner the quantum behaviour of mind during such performed experiment.

Some Remarks on an Experiment Suggesting Quantum Like Behavior of Cognitive Entities and Formulation of an Abstract Quantum Mechanical Formalism to Describe Cognitive Entity and its Dynamics

We have executed for the first time an experiment on mental observables concluding that there exists equivalence (that is to say, quantum like behavior) between quantum and cognitive entities.Such result has enabled us to formulate an abstract quantum mechanical formalism that is able to describe cognitive entities and their time dynamics.

New possible properties of atomic nuclei investigated by non linear methods: Fractal and recurrence quantification analysis

For the first time we apply the methodologies of nonlinear analysis to investigate atomic matter. We use these methods in the analysis of Atomic Weights and of Mass Number of atomic nuclei. Using the AutoCorrelation Function and Mutual Information we establish the presence of nonlinear effects in the mechanism of increasing mass of atomic nuclei considered as a function of the atomic number. We find that increasing mass is divergent, possibly chaotic. We also investigate the possible existence of a Power Law for atomic nuclei and, using also the technique of the variogram, we conclude that a fractal regime could superintend to the mechanism of increasing mass for nuclei. Finally, using the Hurst exponent, evidence is obtained that the mechanism of increasing mass in atomic nuclei is in the fractional Brownian regime. The most interesting results are obtained by using Recurrence Quantification Analysis (RQA). New recurrences, psudoperiodicities, self-resemblance and class of self-similarities are identified with values of determinism showing oscillating values indicating the presence of more or less stability during the process of increasing mass of atomic nuclei. In brief, new regimes of regularities are identified for atomic nuclei that deserve to be studied by future researches. In particular an accurate analysis of binding energy values by nonlinear methods is further required.

On some detailed examples of quantum like structures containing quantum potential states in the sphere of biological dynamics

In the first part of the present paper we give an analysis of the ontic nature of quantum states to be intended as potentialities and of the central role of spin to be considered as the basic essence of quantum mechanical reality: using an algebraic quantum like structure we give mathematical proof on the transition from potentiality to actualization : we recall here what was recently given by us in arXiv quant-ph/0607196. However, as may be expected, it is not so easy to introduce examples containing an adequate description of ontic potentialities through detailed models of systems. The central aim of this paper is to attempt to reach this objective giving direct cases of systems in which ontic potentialities act jointly to actualization. Our aim is to provide evidence for the possible importance of potential states in the sphere of the biological dynamics giving detailed examples of interest for biological studies. We outline the possible implications of potentialities at the level of linear and non linear biological dynamics.

The transition from ontic potentiality to actualization of states in quantum mechanical approach to reality: The Proof of a Mathematical Theorem to Support It

It is given a preliminary discussion on the ontic nature of quantum states to be intended as potentialities and on the central role of spin to be considered as the basic essence of quantum mechanical reality. The possible fundamental role of potentialities and of spin is evidenced in the framework of physical as well as of biological reality. After such preliminary deepening, using a quantum like scheme delineated on the basis of an algebraic structure, it is given for the first time mathematical demonstration of the transition from potentiality of states to their actualization as basic mechanism of our reality.

A Preliminar Evidence of Quantum Like Behavior in Measurements of Mental States

Experimental results presented in this paper supports the hypothesis on quantum-like statistical behaviour of cognitive systems (at least human beings). Our quantum-like approach gives the possibility to represent mental states by Hilbert space vectors (complex amplitudes). Such a representation induces huge reduction of information about a mental state. We realize an approach that has no direct relation with reductionist quantum models and we are not interested in statistical behavior of micro systems forming the macro system of the brain. We describe only probabilistic features of cognitive measurements. Our quantum-like approach describes statistics of measurements of cognitive systems with the aim to ascertain if cognitive systems behave as quantum-like systems where here quantum-like cognitive behavior means that cognitive systems result to be very sensitive to changes of the context with regard to the complex of the mental conditions.
