Promote the Industry Standard of Smart Home in China by Intelligent Router Technology

The reason why smart home remains not popularized lies in bad product user experience, purchasing cost, and compatibility, and a lack of industry standard[1]. Echoing problems above, and having relentless devoted to software and hardware innovation and practice, we have independently developed a set of solution which is based on innovation and integration of router technology, mobile Internet technology,Internet of things technology, communication technology, digital-to-analog conversion and codec technology, and P2P technology among others. We have also established relevant protocols (without the application of protocols abroad). By doing this, we managed to establish a system with low and moderate price, superior performance, all-inclusive functions, easy installation, convenient portability, real-time reliability, security encryption, and the capability to manage home furnitures in an intelligent way. Only a new smart home system like this can inject new idea and energy into smart home industry and thus vigorously promote the establishment of smart home industry standard.

Spectrum Sensing with Small-Sized Datasets in Cognitive Radio: Algorithms and Analysis

Spectrum sensing is a fundamental component of cognitive radio. How to promptly sense the presence of primary users is a key issue to a cognitive radio network. The time requirement is critical in that violating it will cause harmful interference to the primary user, leading to a system-wide failure. The motivation of our work is to provide an effective spectrum sensing method to detect primary users as soon as possible. In the language of streaming based real-time data processing, short-time means small-sized data. In this paper, we propose a cumulative spectrum sensing method dealing with limited sized data. A novel method of covariance matrix estimation is utilized to approximate the true covariance matrix. The theoretical analysis is derived based on concentration inequalities and random matrix theory to support the claims of detection performance. Comparisons between the proposed method and other traditional approaches, judged by the simulation using a captured digital TV signal, show that this proposed method can operate either using smaller-sized data or working under lower SNR environment.

Finite-time Stabilization of Circular Formations using Bearing-only Measurements

This paper studies decentralized formation control of multiple vehicles when each vehicle can only measure the local bearings of their neighbors by using bearing-only sensors. Since the inter-vehicle distance cannot be measured, the target formation involves no distance constraints. More specifically, the target formation considered in this paper is an angle-constrained circular formation, where each vehicle has exactly two neighbors and the angle at each vehicle subtended by its two neighbors is pre-specified. To stabilize the target formation, we propose a discontinuous control law that only requires the sign information of the angle errors. Due to the discontinuity of the proposed control law, the stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed by employing a locally Lipschitz Lyapunov function and nonsmooth analysis tools. We prove that the target formation is locally finite-time stable with collision avoidance guaranteed. The evolution of the vehicle positions in the plane is also characterized.

Distributed Control of Angle-constrained Circular Formations using Bearing-only Measurements

This paper studies distributed formation control of multiple agents in the plane using bearing-only measurements. It is assumed that each agent only measures the local bearings of their neighbor agents. The target formation considered in this paper is a circular formation, where each agent has exactly two neighbors. In the target formation, the angle subtended at each agent by their two neighbors is specified. We propose a distributed control law that stabilizes angle-constrained target formations merely using local bearing measurements. The stability of the target formation is analyzed based on Lyapunov approaches. We present a unified proof to show that our control law not only can ensure local exponential stability but also can give local finite-time stability. The exponential or finite-time stability can be easily switched by tuning a parameter in the control law.

Generalized FMD Detection for Spectrum Sensing Under Low Signal-to-Noise Ratio

Spectrum sensing is a fundamental problem in cognitive radio. We propose a function of covariance matrix based detection algorithm for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio network. Monotonically increasing property of function of matrix involving trace operation is utilized as the cornerstone for this algorithm. The advantage of proposed algorithm is it works under extremely low signal-to-noise ratio, like lower than -30 dB with limited sample data. Theoretical analysis of threshold setting for the algorithm is discussed. A performance comparison between the proposed algorithm and other state-of-the-art methods is provided, by the simulation on captured digital television (DTV) signal.

Enhanced Thermoelectric Power in Dual-Gated Bilayer Graphene

Thermoelectric power of a material, typically governed by its band structure and carrier density, can be varied by chemical doping that is often restricted by solubility of the dopant. Materials showing large thermoelectric power are useful for many industrial applications, such as the heat-to-electricity conversion and the thermoelectric cooling device. Here we show a full electric field tuning of thermoelectric power in a dual-gated bilayer graphene device resulting from the opening of a band-gap by applying a perpendicular electric field on bilayer graphene. We uncover a large enhancement in thermoelectric power at low temperature, which may open up a new possibility in low temperature thermoelectric application using graphene-based device.

Reconstruction of Protein-Protein Interaction Pathways by Mining Subject-Verb-Objects Intermediates

The exponential increase in publication rate of new articles is limiting access of researchers to relevant literature. This has prompted the use of text mining tools to extract key biological information. Previous studies have reported extensive modification of existing generic text processors to process biological text. However, this requirement for modification had not been examined. In this study, we have constructed Muscorian, using MontyLingua, a generic text processor. It uses a two-layered generalization-specialization paradigm previously proposed where text was generically processed to a suitable intermediate format before domain-specific data extraction techniques are applied at the specialization layer. Evaluation using a corpus and experts indicated 86-90% precision and approximately 30% recall in extracting protein-protein interactions, which was comparable to previous studies using either specialized biological text processing tools or modified existing tools. Our study had also demonstrated the flexibility of the two-layered generalization-specialization paradigm by using the same generalization layer for two specialized information extraction tasks.
