Search for the charmonium weak decay $J/ψ\to\bar{D}^0\bar{K}^{*0}+{\rm c.c.}$

Based on a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 3.0969 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the charmonium rare weak decay $J/ψ\to\bar{D}^0\bar{K}^{*0}+{\rm c.c.}$. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on its decay branching fraction at the 90% confidence level is set as $1.4\times10^{-7}$, improving the sensitivity of the previous best limit by an order of magnitude.

Cross Section Measurements of $\bar{n}p \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}(π^{0})$ via Antineutrons Produced by $J/ψ\to p π^{-} \bar{n}$ Decays

Based on a novel method for producing antineutrons via $J/ψ$ decays, we report a study of $\bar{n}p$ inelastic scattering into final states containing kaons. The analysis uses $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected at the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Antineutrons are produced via $J/ψ\to p π^{-} \bar{n}$ decays and tagged by the detected protons and pions, resulting in antineutron momenta ranging from 0 to 1174~MeV/$c$, while target protons are provided by the hydrogen in the beam-pipe material. The flux-averaged cross sections of the reactions $\bar{n}p \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}$ and $\bar{n}p \rightarrow K^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{0}$ over this antineutron momentum spectrum are measured to be $0.53^{+0.15}_{-0.12} \pm 0.08$~mb and $1.09^{+0.36}_{-0.30} \pm 0.31$~mb, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Due to limited statistics, the intermediate states in these processes are not quantitatively investigated. The observation of clean antineutron-proton scattering candidates indicates the potential of this approach for future investigations of antineutron-proton interactions.

Amplitude Analysis and Branching Fraction Measurement of $D^+ \to π^+π^0π^0$

We present the first amplitude analysis of the hadronic decay $D^+\toπ^+π^0π^0$, using $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3~fb$^{-1}$. The fit fractions of the intermediate processes are measured, in which the $D^+ \to ρ(770)^+π^0$ component is found to be dominant with a branching fraction of $(3.08\kern0.15em\pm\kern0.15em0.10_{\rm stat.}\pm0.05_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}$. Based on the amplitude analysis, the branching fraction of $D^+ \to π^+π^0π^0$ is measured to be $(4.84\kern0.1em\pm\kern0.1em0.05_{\rm stat.}\kern0.1em\pm\kern0.1em0.05_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}$. In addition, the CP asymmetries, both for specific amplitudes and integrated over the entire phase space, are measured.

First Measurement of the $D_s^+\rightarrow K^{}(892)^0μ^+ν_μ$ Decay, Study of Dynamics and Test of Lepton Universality with $D_s^+\rightarrow K^{}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ Decays

We report the first measurement of the semileptonic decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^*(892)^0μ^+ν_μ$ and an improved measurement of the decay $D^+_s \rightarrow K^*(892)^0 e^+ν_{e}$ using a sample of $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 to 4.226~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We measure the branching fractions to be $\mathcal B({D^+_s\rightarrow K^*(892)^0 μ^+ν_μ})=(2.07\pm0.22_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal B({D^+_s\rightarrow K^*(892)^0 e^+ν_{e}})=(2.14\pm0.18_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$. Based on a simultaneous study of the dynamics in two semileptonic decays, the hadronic form factor parameters in the $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0$ transition are determined to be $r_{V} = V(0)/A_1(0) = 1.63 \pm 0.14_{\rm stat} \pm 0.08_{\rm syst}$, $r_{2} = A_2(0)/A_1(0) = 0.60 \pm 0.13_{\rm stat} \pm 0.06_{\rm syst}$, and $A_1(0)=0.56 \pm 0.02_{\rm stat} \pm 0.01_{\rm syst}$, where $V(0)$ is the vector form factor and $A_{1,2}(0)$ are the axial-vector form factors evaluated at $q^2=0$. The precision of $r_V$ and $r_2$ is improved by twofold and $A_1(0)$ is measured for the first time. We also report the first model-independent measurements of the differential decay rates and the lepton forward-backward asymmetries for $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays. Based on these measurements, we perform a test of lepton flavor universality in full and separate $q^2$ intervals with $D^+_s\rightarrow K^{*}(892)^0\ell^+ν_{\ell}$ decays. No violation is found within uncertainties. Our results present for the first time a complete study of the dynamics in the $D_s^+\rightarrow K^*(892)^0$ transition, and provide stringent tests of various non-perturbative theoretical calculations.

Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of Xi(1530)^{-} to (Xi pi)^{-} and Updated Measurement of the Branching Fraction of psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c

Based on (2712.4+-14.3)*10^{6} psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{0} pi^{-} and Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{-} pi^{0} are investigated jointly via the process psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c. Under the assumption of isospin symmetry, the two decay modes are treated as fully correlated, and we report the first measurement of their absolute branching fractions. The results are B(Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{0} pi^{-})=(61.4+-4.5+-4.6)% and B(Xi(1530)^{-} to Xi^{-} pi^{0}) =(29.7+-2.2+-2.2)%. The combined branching fraction of the two decays is B(Xi(1530)^{-} to (Xi pi)^{-})=(91.1+-6.7+-6.8)%, with uncertainties accounting for the correlations between the two modes. Here, the first uncertainties are statistical, while the second are systematic. Additionally, we update the branching fraction of the decay psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c. The updated measurement is B(psi(3686) to anti-Xi^{+} Xi(1530)^{-} + c.c.)=(8.67+-0.52+-0.58+-0.57)*10^{-6}, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic related to event selection and the fit model, and the third is associated with the interference effect.

Evidence of transverse polarization of $Ξ^0$ hyperon in $ψ(3686)\rightarrowΞ^0\barΞ^0$

Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report an evidence of $Ξ^{0}$ transverse polarization with a significance of 4.4$σ$, a precise measurement of the branching fraction and the ratios between the $S$-wave and $D$-wave contributions of $ψ(3686)\toΞ^{0}\barΞ^{0}$. The weak decay parameters ($ϕ_{Ξ^0/\barΞ^{0}}$, $α_{Ξ^0/\barΞ^{0}}$) and the angular distribution ($α_ψ$) are also measured with higher precision compared to the previous measurements. Furthermore, two the $CP$ observables are also determined to be $A^{Ξ^0}_{CP} = -0.014 \pm 0.030 \pm 0.010$ and $Δϕ^{Ξ^0}_{CP} = 0.000 \pm 0.028 \pm 0.003$~rad, which are still consistent with $CP$ conservation at 1$σ$ level under the current statistics.

Observation of a Doubly-strange Hyperon $Ξ(1720)$ in $J/ψ\rightarrow{}K^{-}Σ^0\barΞ^{+}+c.c.$

Based on a sample of $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the first observation of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrow K^- Σ^0 \barΞ^++c.c.$. A partial wave analysis is performed to investigate the involved excited states. In addition to the well-established $Ξ(1690)$, a new doubly-strange hyperon $Ξ(1720) $ is observed decaying to $K^- Σ^0$ with a mass of $1721.0 \pm 5.2_{\rm stat.} \pm 3.4_{\rm syst.} ~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $31.3 \pm 18.3_{\rm stat.} \pm 15.4_{\rm syst.} ~{\rm MeV}$, with a statistical significance exceeding $10σ$. The spin-parity hypothesis testing across various quantum number configurations reveals that the spin-parity of $Ξ(1720)$ favors $J^P = {\frac{3}{2}}^+$. Furthermore, the branching fraction of $J/ψ\rightarrow K^- Σ^0 \barΞ^++c.c.$ is determined to be $(2.68 \pm 0.04_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.17_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-5}$.

Amplitude Analysis of the Isospin-Violating Decay $J/ψ\rightarrowγηπ^{0}$

Using $(10\,087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the process $J/ψ\toγηπ^0$. The decay is dominated by the intermediate processes $J/ψ\toπ^0 b_1(1235)^0 \toγηπ^0$, $J/ψ\toπ^{0}ρ(1450)^0 \toγηπ^0$ and $J/ψ\toηh_1(1170) \toγηπ^0$. Contributions from $J/ψ\toγa_0(980)^0\toγηπ^0$, $J/ψ\toγa_2(1320)^0\toγηπ^0$ and $J/ψ\toγa_2(1700)^0\toγηπ^0$ are observed with a statistical significance exceeding $5σ$, constituting the first observation of radiative transitions of $J/ψ$ to isospin-triplet scalar mesons. The total branching fraction of $J/ψ\toγηπ^0$ is measured to be $(25.7\pm0.3\pm1.5)\times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This result is consistent with the previous measurement, with the precision improved by more than a factor of two.

Search for the decays $X(3872)\to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ and $K^*(892)\bar{K}$ at BESIII

Using a 10.9 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.16 to 4.34 GeV, we search for the charmless decays $X(3872) \to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}$ and $K^*(892)\bar{K}$, where the $X(3872)$ is produced via the radiative process $e^+e^- \to γX(3872)$. No significant signal is observed. We set upper limits on the relative branching fractions $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K_S K^{\pm} π^{\mp}]/\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\toπ^+π^- J/ψ] <0.07$ and $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K^* (892)\bar{K}]/\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to π^+π^- J/ψ] <0.10$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level. Additionally, upper limits on the product of the cross section $σ[e^+e^-\toγX(3872)]$ and the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K_{S}^{0}K^{\pm}π^{\mp}]$ and $\mathcal{B}[X(3872)\to K^*(892)\bar{K}]$ are reported at each energy point. In all cases, $K^*(892)\bar{K}$ refers to the sum of the modes $K^*(892)^+K^{-}+\text{c.c.}$ and $K^*(892)^0\bar{K}^0+\text{c.c.}$, where c.c. denotes the corresponding charge-conjugate modes.

Observation of a threshold enhancement in the $π^+π^-$ spectrum in $ψ(3686) \rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ decays

Based on the $(2712.4\pm14.4)\times 10^{6}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present a high-precision study of the $π^+π^-$ mass spectrum in $ψ(3686)\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}J/ψ$ decays. A clear resonance like structure is observed near the $π^+π^-$ mass threshold for the first time. A fit with a Breit-Wigner function yields a mass of $285.6\pm 2.5~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and a width of $16.3\pm 0.9~{\rm MeV}$ with a statistical significance exceeding 10$σ$. To interpret the data, we incorporate final state interactions (FSI) within two theoretical frameworks: chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) and QCD multipole expansion (QCDME). ChPT describes the spectrum above 0.3 GeV/$c^2$ but fails to reproduce the threshold enhancement. In contrast, the QCDME model assuming the $ψ(3686)$ is an admixture of S and D wave charmonium reproduces the data well. The pronounced dip near 0.3 GeV/$c^2$ offers new insight into the interplay between chiral dynamics and low-energy QCD.

First Observation of \boldmath{$D^+ \to a_0(980)ρ$ and $D^+ \to a_0(980)^+ f_0(500)$} in \boldmath{$D^+ \to π^+π^+π^-η$ and $D^+ \to π^+π^0π^0η$} Decays

We perform the first amplitude analysis of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays $D^+ \to π^+ π^{+(0)} π^{-(0)} η$, using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$. The absolute branching fractions of the $D^+ \to π^+ π^+ π^- η$ and $D^+ \to π^+ π^0 π^0 η$ decays are measured to be $(3.20\pm0.06_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.03_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-3}$ and $(2.43 \pm 0.11_{\text{stat.}} \pm 0.04_{\text{syst.}}) \times 10^{-3}$, respectively. % , both achieving three times better precision than the current PDG values. The decay process $D^{+}\to a_0(980)^{+}f_0(500)$ is observed for the first time with an unexpectedly large branching fraction. Moreover, we observe the decays $D^+ \to a_0(980)^{+(0)} ρ(770)^{0(+)}$ and measure the ratio $r_{+/0} \equiv \frac{\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to a_0(980)^+ ρ(770)^0)}{\mathcal{B}(D^+ \to a_0(980)^0 ρ(770)^+)}$ for the first time to be $0.55\pm0.08_{\text{stat.}}\pm0.05_{\text{syst.}}$. These results offer a novel insight into our comprehension of the nature of the $a_0(980)$ and $f_0(500)$ states.

Observation of the Exotic State $π_{1}(1600)$ in $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγχ_{c1},χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}η'$

A partial wave analysis of the process $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγχ_{c1}, χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ^+π^-η^{\prime}$ is performed using $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^{6}$ $ψ(2S)$ events collected with the BESIII detector. An isovector state with exotic quantum numbers $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$, denoted as $π_{1}(1600)$, is observed for the first time in the charmonium decay of $χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ_{1}^{\pm}(1600)π^{\mp}$, $π_{1}^{\pm}(1600)\rightarrowπ^{\pm}η^{\prime}$ with a statistical significance over $21σ$. Its mass and width are determined to be $1828 \pm 8 ({\rm stat})^{+11}_{-33}({\rm syst})~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and $638 \pm 26 ({\rm stat})^{+35}_{-86}({\rm syst})~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively, using a relativistic Breit-Wigner function with a mass-dependent width. The corresponding product of branching fractions is determined to be $\mathcal{B}\left[χ_{c1}\rightarrowπ_{1}(1600)^{\pm}π^{\mp} \right] \times \mathcal{B}\left[π_{1}(1600)^{\pm}\rightarrowπ^{\pm}η^{\prime}\right] = \left( 4.30 \pm 0.14 ({\rm stat})^{+1.04}_{-1.03}({\rm syst})~ \right) \times 10^{-4}$.

Observation of $\barΛp\to K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}$ and $\barΛp\to K^{+}π^{+}π^{-}2π^{0}$

Using $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV, the antihyperon-nucleon annihilation processes $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- + kπ^0$ ($k=1,2,3$) are studied at an incident $\barΛ$ momentum of approximately 1.074 GeV/$c$. The reactions $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- π^0$ and $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 2π^0$ are observed for the first time, with corresponding cross sections $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- π^0} = 8.5^{+1.2}_{-1.1} (\rm{stat.}) \pm 0.4 (\rm {syst.})$ mb and $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 2π^0} = 7.9^{+1.9}_{-1.7} \pm 0.4$ mb. No significant signal is found for $\barΛ p \to K^+ π^+ π^- 3π^0$, and an upper limit of 7.2 mb is set at a 90\% confidence level. An evidence for the $K^{*}(892)^+$ resonance is seen in the $K^+π^0$ invariant mass spectrum $M_{K^+π^0}$ for $k=1$, and the corresponding cross section for $\barΛ p \to K^{*}(892)^+ π^+ π^-$ is measured to be $σ_{\barΛ p \to K^{*}(892)^+ π^+ π^-} = 12.5^{+3.8}_{-3.4} \pm 1.2$ mb. Owing to the limited statistics, possible interference effects are not considered. These findings offer crucial input to deepen our understanding of the antihyperon-nucleon interactions.

First measurement of the absolute branching fractions of $Σ^+$ nonleptonic decays and test of the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule

Based on $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 3.097$ GeV, the first absolute measurement of the branching fractions for the decays $Σ^+ \to p π^0$ and $Σ^+ \to n π^+$ is performed. The branching fractions are determined to be $B_{Σ^+ \to p π^0} = (49.79 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.22)\%$ and $B_{Σ^+ \to n π^+} = (49.87 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.29)\%$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These results show significant deviations from the PDG values for both decays, with differences of 4.4$σ$ for $Σ^+ \to p π^0$ and 3.4$σ$ for $Σ^+ \to n π^+$. Furthermore, the $ΔI = 1/2$ rule is tested in nonleptonic $Σ^\pm$ decays. The observed results deviate from zero by more than $5σ$, indicating the presence of the $ΔI = 3/2$ transition amplitude in the $Σ$ hyperon decays.

Search for sub-GeV dark particles in $η\toπ^0+\rm{invisible}$ decay

Using (10087$\pm$44)$\times$10$^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097~\rm{GeV}$, we report the first search for $η\toπ^0S\toπ^0χ\barχ$ with $S$ denotes an on-shell dark scalar boson and $χ$ an invisible dark matter particle. No significant signals are observed with $S$ mass ranging from 0 to 400 $\rm{MeV}/c^2$. The upper limits on the branching fractions and the new physics coupling strengths between $S$ and quarks are set to be $(1.8\sim5.5)\times10^{-5}$ and $(1.3\sim3.2)\times10^{-5}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively. The constraints on the dark-matter-nucleon scattering cross section is improved by approximately 5 orders of magnitude over previous dark-matter-nucleon scattering experiments, providing unique insights into sub-GeV dark matter.

Observation of $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)\rightarrow p\bar{p}ηη$

Using $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times10^6$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the decays $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)\rightarrow p\bar{p}ηη$ are observed for the first time through the radiative transition $ψ(3686)\toγχ_{cJ}$. The statistical significances for $χ_{cJ}$ signals are all larger than 5$σ$. The branching fractions of $χ_{c0,1,2}\to p\bar{p} ηη$ are determined to be $({5.75 \pm 0.59 \pm 0.42}) \times 10^{-5}$, $({1.40 \pm 0.33 \pm 0.17}) \times 10^{-5}$, and $({2.64 \pm 0.40 \pm 0.27}) \times 10^{-5}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No evident resonant structures are found in the $p\bar{p}$ and $pη/\bar{p}η$ systems.

First measurement of $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΛp$ and $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΣ^{0}p$ cross sections via $Σ^+$-nucleus scattering at an electron-positron collider

Using $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the reactions $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΛp$ and $Σ^{+}n\rightarrowΣ^{0}p$ are studied, where the $Σ^{+}$ baryon is produced in the process $J/ψ\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^-$ and the neutron is a component of the $^9\rm{Be}$, $^{12}\rm{C}$ and $^{197}\rm{Au}$ nuclei in the beam pipe. Clear signals of these two reactions are observed for the first time. Their cross sections are measured to be $σ(Σ^{+}+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΛ+p+X)=(45.2\pm12.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm7.2_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(Σ^{+}+{^9\rm{Be}}\rightarrowΣ^{0}+p+X)=(29.8\pm9.7_{\rm{stat}}\pm6.9_{\rm{sys}})$ mb for a $Σ^{+}$ average momentum of $0.992$ GeV/$c$, within a range of $\pm0.015$ GeV/$c$, where $X$ represents the residual nucleus. This is the first study of $Σ^{+}$-nucleon scattering at an electron-positron collider.

Search for the radiative decays $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$

A search for the radiative decays $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$ is conducted using $20.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and upper limits on the branching fractions of $D^0\to γ\bar K_1(1270)^0$ and $D^+\to γK_1(1270)^+$ at 90\% confidence level are determined to be $7.7\times10^{-4}$ and $3.9\times10^{-5}$, respectively. This represents the first test of the Vector Meson Dominance mechanism in the radiative decays of charmed mesons to axial-vector mesons.
