Predicting Stress in Two-phase Random Materials and Super-Resolution Method for Stress Images by Embedding Physical Information

Stress analysis is an important part of material design. For materials with complex microstructures, such as two-phase random materials (TRMs), material failure is often accompanied by stress concentration. Phase interfaces in two-phase materials are critical for stress concentration. Therefore, the prediction error of stress at phase boundaries is crucial. In practical engineering, the pixels of the obtained material microstructure images are limited, which limits the resolution of stress images generated by deep learning methods, making it difficult to observe stress concentration regions. Existing Image Super-Resolution (ISR) technologies are all based on data-driven supervised learning. However, stress images have natural physical constraints, which provide new ideas for new ISR technologies. In this study, we constructed a stress prediction framework for TRMs. First, the framework uses a proposed Multiple Compositions U-net (MC U-net) to predict stress in low-resolution material microstructures. By considering the phase interface information of the microstructure, the MC U-net effectively reduces the problem of excessive prediction errors at phase boundaries. Secondly, a Mixed Physics-Informed Neural Network (MPINN) based method for stress ISR (SRPINN) was proposed. By introducing the constraints of physical information, the new method does not require paired stress images for training and can increase the resolution of stress images to any multiple. This enables a multiscale analysis of the stress concentration regions at phase boundaries. Finally, we performed stress analysis on TRMs with different phase volume fractions and loading states through transfer learning. The results show the proposed stress prediction framework has satisfactory accuracy and generalization ability.

UniAP: Unifying Inter- and Intra-Layer Automatic Parallelism by Mixed Integer Quadratic Programming

Distributed learning is commonly used for training deep learning models, especially large models. In distributed learning, manual parallelism (MP) methods demand considerable human effort and have limited flexibility. Hence, automatic parallelism (AP) methods have recently been proposed for automating the parallel strategy optimization process. Existing AP methods suffer from sub-optimal solutions because they do not jointly optimize the two categories of parallel strategies (i.e., inter-layer parallelism and intra-layer parallelism). In this paper, we propose a novel AP method called UniAP, which unifies inter- and intra-layer automatic parallelism by mixed integer quadratic programming. To the best of our knowledge, UniAP is the first parallel method that can jointly optimize the two categories of parallel strategies to find an optimal solution. Experimental results show that UniAP outperforms state-of-the-art methods by up to 3.80$\times$ in throughput and reduces strategy optimization time by up to 107$\times$ across five Transformer-based models.

WonderTurbo: Generating Interactive 3D World in 0.72 Seconds

Interactive 3D generation is gaining momentum and capturing extensive attention for its potential to create immersive virtual experiences. However, a critical challenge in current 3D generation technologies lies in achieving real-time interactivity. To address this issue, we introduce WonderTurbo, the first real-time interactive 3D scene generation framework capable of generating novel perspectives of 3D scenes within 0.72 seconds. Specifically, WonderTurbo accelerates both geometric and appearance modeling in 3D scene generation. In terms of geometry, we propose StepSplat, an innovative method that constructs efficient 3D geometric representations through dynamic updates, each taking only 0.26 seconds. Additionally, we design QuickDepth, a lightweight depth completion module that provides consistent depth input for StepSplat, further enhancing geometric accuracy. For appearance modeling, we develop FastPaint, a 2-steps diffusion model tailored for instant inpainting, which focuses on maintaining spatial appearance consistency. Experimental results demonstrate that WonderTurbo achieves a remarkable 15X speedup compared to baseline methods, while preserving excellent spatial consistency and delivering high-quality output.

HOIGen-1M: A Large-scale Dataset for Human-Object Interaction Video Generation

Text-to-video (T2V) generation has made tremendous progress in generating complicated scenes based on texts. However, human-object interaction (HOI) often cannot be precisely generated by current T2V models due to the lack of large-scale videos with accurate captions for HOI. To address this issue, we introduce HOIGen-1M, the first largescale dataset for HOI Generation, consisting of over one million high-quality videos collected from diverse sources. In particular, to guarantee the high quality of videos, we first design an efficient framework to automatically curate HOI videos using the powerful multimodal large language models (MLLMs), and then the videos are further cleaned by human annotators. Moreover, to obtain accurate textual captions for HOI videos, we design a novel video description method based on a Mixture-of-Multimodal-Experts (MoME) strategy that not only generates expressive captions but also eliminates the hallucination by individual MLLM. Furthermore, due to the lack of an evaluation framework for generated HOI videos, we propose two new metrics to assess the quality of generated videos in a coarse-to-fine manner. Extensive experiments reveal that current T2V models struggle to generate high-quality HOI videos and confirm that our HOIGen-1M dataset is instrumental for improving HOI video generation. Multi-Channel Multi-Step Spectrum Prediction Using Transformer and Stacked Bi-LSTM

Spectrum prediction is considered as a key technology to assist spectrum decision. Despite the great efforts that have been put on the construction of spectrum prediction, achieving accurate spectrum prediction emphasizes the need for more advanced solutions. In this paper, we propose a new multichannel multi-step spectrum prediction method using Transformer and stacked bidirectional LSTM (Bi- LSTM), named TSB. Specifically, we use multi-head attention and stacked Bi-LSTM to build a new Transformer based on encoder-decoder architecture. The self-attention mechanism composed of multiple layers of multi-head attention can continuously attend to all positions of the multichannel spectrum sequences. The stacked Bi-LSTM can learn these focused coding features by multi-head attention layer by layer. The advantage of this fusion mode is that it can deeply capture the long-term dependence of multichannel spectrum data. We have conducted extensive experiments on a dataset generated by a real simulation platform. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the baselines.

Entangling cavity-magnon polaritons by interacting with phonons

We show how to entangle two cavity-magnon polaritons (CMPs) formed by two strongly coupled microwave cavity and magnon modes. This is realized by introducing vibration phonons, via magnetostriction, into the system that are dispersively coupled to the magnon mode. Stationary entanglement between two CMPs can be achieved when they are respectively resonant with the two sidebands of the drive field scattered by the phonons, and when the proportions of the cavity and magnon modes in the two polaritons are appropriately chosen. The entangled CMPs are macroscopic quantum states as the magnon mode contains a large number of spins, and can lead to the emission of frequency-entangled microwave photons, which find broad applications in microwave quantum information processing and quantum metrology.

Bayesian Inference General Procedures for A Single-subject Test Study

Abnormality detection in identifying a single-subject which deviates from the majority of a control group dataset is a fundamental problem. Typically, the control group is characterised using standard Normal statistics, and the detection of a single abnormal subject is in that context. However, in many situations, the control group cannot be described by Normal statistics, making standard statistical methods inappropriate. This paper presents a Bayesian Inference General Procedures for A Single-subject Test (BIGPAST) designed to mitigate the effects of skewness under the assumption that the dataset of the control group comes from the skewed Student \( t \) distribution. BIGPAST operates under the null hypothesis that the single-subject follows the same distribution as the control group. We assess BIGPAST's performance against other methods through simulation studies. The results demonstrate that BIGPAST is robust against deviations from normality and outperforms the existing approaches in accuracy nearest to the nominal accuracy 0.95. BIGPAST can reduce model misspecification errors under the skewed Student $t$ assumption by up to 12 times, as demonstrated in Section 3.3. We apply BIGPAST to a Magnetoencephalography (MEG) dataset consisting of an individual with mild traumatic brain injury and an age and gender-matched control group. For example, the previous method failed to detect abnormalities in 8 brain areas, whereas BIGPAST successfully identified them, demonstrating its effectiveness in detecting abnormalities in a single-subject.

Drone Remote Identification Based on Zadoff-Chu Sequences and Time-Frequency Images

We propose an algorithm based on Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequences and time-frequency images (TFI) to achieve drone remote identification (RID). Specifically, by analyzing the modulation parameters and frame structures of drone ratio-frequency (RF) signals in the DroneRFa dataset, we extract prior information about ZC sequences with surprising correlation properties and robustness. Cross-correlation is performed between locally generated ZC sequences and drone signals to derive ZC sequence-based features. Then, these ZF sequence features are fused with TFI features containing communication protocol information to achieve drone RID. To reduce computational costs, data reduction of the cross-correlation features is performed by analyzing the frame structures and modulation parameters, ensuring that the feature performance remained unaffected. Three feature fusion methods, namely probability-weighted addition, feature vector addition, and feature vector concatenation, are analyzed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm improves the average accuracy by at least 2.5\% compared to existing methods, which also indicate robust RID performance under burst interference and background noise. For RF sampling signals at varying flight distances, the proposed algorithm achieves a maximum accuracy of 99.11\%.

Mobility-aware Seamless Service Migration and Resource Allocation in Multi-edge IoV Systems

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios.

A Workflow to Create a High-Quality Protein-Ligand Binding Dataset for Training, Validation, and Prediction Tasks

Development of scoring functions (SFs) used to predict protein-ligand binding energies requires high-quality 3D structures and binding assay data for training and testing their parameters. In this work, we show that one of the widely-used datasets, PDBbind, suffers from several common structural artifacts of both proteins and ligands, which may compromise the accuracy, reliability, and generalizability of the resulting SFs. Therefore, we have developed a series of algorithms organized in a semi-automated workflow, HiQBind-WF, that curates non-covalent protein-ligand datasets to fix these problems. We also used this workflow to create an independent data set, HiQBind, by matching binding free energies from various sources including BioLiP, Binding MOAD and BindingDB with co-crystalized ligand-protein complexes from the PDB. The resulting HiQBind workflow and dataset are designed to ensure reproducibility and to minimize human intervention, while also being open-source to foster transparency in the improvements made to this important resource for the biology and drug discovery communities.

Symplectic tracking through curved three dimensional fields by a method of generating functions

Symplectic integrator plays a pivotal role in the long-term tracking of charged particles within accelerators. To get symplectic maps in accurate simulation of single-particle trajectories, two key components are addressed: precise analytical expressions for arbitrary electromagnetic fields and a robust treatment of the equations of motion. In a source-free region, the electromagnetic fields can be decomposed into harmonic functions, applicable to both scalar and vector potentials, encompassing both straight and curved reference trajectories. These harmonics are constructed according to the boundary surface's field data due to uniqueness theorem. Finding generating functions to meet the Hamilton-Jacobi equation via a perturbative ansatz, we derive symplectic maps that are independent of the expansion order. This method yields a direct mapping from initial to final coordinates in a large step, bypassing the transition of intermediate coordinates. Our developed particle-tracking algorithm translates the field harmonics into beam trajectories, offering a high-resolution integration method in accelerator simulations.

Sparse Meets Dense: Unified Generative Recommendations with Cascaded Sparse-Dense Representations

Generative models have recently gained attention in recommendation systems by directly predicting item identifiers from user interaction sequences. However, existing methods suffer from significant information loss due to the separation of stages such as quantization and sequence modeling, hindering their ability to achieve the modeling precision and accuracy of sequential dense retrieval techniques. Integrating generative and dense retrieval methods remains a critical challenge. To address this, we introduce the Cascaded Organized Bi-Represented generAtive retrieval (COBRA) framework, which innovatively integrates sparse semantic IDs and dense vectors through a cascading process. Our method alternates between generating these representations by first generating sparse IDs, which serve as conditions to aid in the generation of dense vectors. End-to-end training enables dynamic refinement of dense representations, capturing both semantic insights and collaborative signals from user-item interactions. During inference, COBRA employs a coarse-to-fine strategy, starting with sparse ID generation and refining them into dense vectors via the generative model. We further propose BeamFusion, an innovative approach combining beam search with nearest neighbor scores to enhance inference flexibility and recommendation diversity. Extensive experiments on public datasets and offline tests validate our method's robustness. Online A/B tests on a real-world advertising platform with over 200 million daily users demonstrate substantial improvements in key metrics, highlighting COBRA's practical advantages.

Nonreciprocal entanglement in cavity magnomechanics exploiting chiral cavity-magnon coupling

We propose a new mechanism to achieve nonreciprocal quantum entanglement in a cavity magnomechanical system by exploiting the chiral cavity-magnon coupling. The system consists of a magnon mode, a mechanical vibration mode, and two degenerate counter-propagating microwave cavity modes in a torus-shaped cavity. We show that nonreciprocal stationary microwave-magnon and -phonon bipartite entanglements and photon-magnon-phonon tripartite entanglement can be achieved by respectively driving different circulating cavity modes that hold a chiral coupling to the magnon mode. The nonreciprocal entanglements are shown to be robust against various experimental imperfections. We specifically show how such nonreciprocal entanglement can realize the channel multiplexing quantum teleportation from a microwave field to a solid-state magnon mode. The work may find promising applications of the cavity magnomechanical systems in noise-tolerant quantum processing, channel multiplexing quantum teleportation, and chiral magnonic quantum networks.

Feasible Path SQP Algorithm for Simulation-based Optimization Surrogated with Differentiable Machine Learning Models

With the development of artificial intelligence, simulation-based optimization problems, which present a significant challenge in the process systems engineering community, are increasingly being addressed with the surrogate-based framework. In this work, we propose a deterministic algorithm framework based on feasible path sequential quadratic programming for optimizing differentiable machine learning models embedded problems. The proposed framework effectively addresses two key challenges: (i) achieving the computation of first- and second-order derivatives of machine learning models' outputs with respect to inputs; and (ii) by introducing the feasible path method, the massive intermediate variables resulting from the algebraic formulation of machine learning models eliminated. Surrogate models for six test functions and two process simulations were established and optimized. All six test functions were successfully optimized to the global optima, demonstrating the framework's effectiveness. The optimization time for all cases did not exceed 2s, highlighting the efficiency of the algorithm.

Interlayer Hopping between Surface Mott Insulator and Bulk Band Insulator in layered 1T-TaS_{2}

In condensed matter physics, various mechanisms give rise to distinct insulating phases. The competition and interplay between these phases remain elusive, even for the seemingly most distinguishable band and Mott insulators. In multilayer systems, such interplay is mediated by interlayer hopping, which competes with the Coulomb repulsion to determine the nature of insulators. The layered compound 1T-TaS_{2} provides an ideal platform for investigating this phenomenon, as it naturally hosts coexisting Mott and band insulating states. However, distinguishing these distinct insulating states and characterizing the evolution remain challenging. In this study, we employ a dual approach utilizing surface-sensitive High-Resolution Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (HREELS) and bulk-sensitive Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to investigate the electronic excitation spectrum of 1T-TaS_{2}. Our methodology effectively identifies the features originating from the Mott and band insulators by analyzing the differences in their bulk and surface spectral weights, along with their energy distinctions. Based on the previous identification, we further investigate the evolution of insulating state features in the homostructure as they are modulated by temperature. The measurements and Dynamical Mean-Field Theory (DMFT) calculations suggest that the softening and broadening of Hubbard excitations in the Mott state with increasing temperature result from enhanced interlayer hopping between the Mott and band insulators.

The geometric impact of the quantum Hall interface on a cone

Recently, quantum Hall interface has become a popular subject of research; distinct from that of the quantum Hall edge, which is constrained by external background confinement, the interface has the freedom to move, likely towards a string-like state. In disk geometry, it was known that the interface energy has an extra correction due to its curvature which depends on the size of the disk. In this work, we analytically calculate the energy of the integer quantum Hall interface on a cone surface which has the advantage that its curvature is more easily adjustable. By tuning the length and curvature of the interface by the cone angle parameter $β$, we analyze the dependence of the quantum Hall interface energy on the curvature and verify this geometric correction. Moreover, we find that the tip of the cone geometry has an extra contribution to the energy that reflects on the $u_2,u_4$ term.

Modelling Loss of Complexity in Intermittent Time Series and its Application

In this paper, we developed a novel method of nonparametric relative entropy (RlEn) for modelling loss of complexity in intermittent time series. The method consists of two steps. We first fit a nonlinear autoregressive model to each intermittent time series, where the corresponding lag order and the loss of complexity are determined by Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) and relative entropy respectively. Then, change-points in the complexity are detected by a cumulative sum (CUSUM) based statistic. Compared to approximate entropy (ApEn), a popular method in literature, the performance of RlEn was assessed by simulations in terms of (1) ability to localize complexity change-points in intermittent time series; (2) ability to faithfully estimate underlying nonlinear models. The performance of the proposal was then examined in a real analysis of fatigue-induced changes in the complexity of human motor outputs. The results showed that the proposed method outperformed the ApEn in accurately detecting changes of complexity in intermittent time series segments.
