POTSA: A Cross-Lingual Speech Alignment Framework for Speech-to-Text Translation

Speech Large Language Models have achieved breakthroughs in multilingual speech-to-text translation. However, existing approaches often overlook semantic commonalities across source languages, leading to biased translation performance. In this work, we propose POTSA (Parallel Optimal Transport for Speech Alignment), a new framework based on cross-lingual parallel speech pairs and Optimal Transport, designed to bridge high- and low-resource translation gaps. First, we introduce a Bias Compensation module to coarsely align initial speech representations. Second, we impose token-level OT constraints on a Q-Former using parallel pairs to establish fine-grained representation consistency. Then, we apply a layer scheduling strategy to focus OT constraints on semantically beneficial layers. Experiments on FLEURS show our method achieves SOTA performance, with +1.29 BLEU over five common languages and +2.93 BLEU on zero-shot languages, using only 10 hours of parallel speech per language.

Constraints and detection capabilities of GW polarizations with space-based detectors in different TDI combinations

TDI is essential in space-based GW detectors, effectively reducing laser noise and improving detection precision. Space-based GW detectors provide a unique opportunity to probe GW polarizations, including possible additional modes that may signal deviations from general relativity and alternative gravity theories. In this study, we examine the impacts of second-generation TDI combinations on GW polarization detection by simulating LISA, Taiji, and TianQin, including realistic orbital effects such as link length and angle variations. Detector performance is assessed using sensitivity and power-law integrated curves, as well as the SNR of BBHs and phase transitions (PTs). For massive BBHs, the A and E channels typically offer the best sensitivity, while the X channel in TianQin is most effective for detecting additional polarizations. For stellar-mass BBHs, the $α$ channel provides the highest SNR for vector modes in LISA and Taiji specifically for lower-mass systems, while the A and E channels are optimal for higher masses or other polarizations. For PT signals, the X channel generally delivers the optimal performance, except in the low-peak-frequency regime below 1 mHz, where the U channel in TianQin becomes more sensitive. When considering additional polarizations, the X channel emerges as the most robust choice for TianQin, in contrast to LISA and Taiji, where the A and E channels provide strong capabilities for GW polarization tests. This distinction between LISA, Taiji, and TianQin represents a key result of the present work and has not been explicitly emphasized in previous studies. Our findings emphasize the importance of selecting high-sensitivity TDI combinations to enhance detection capabilities across different polarizations, deepening our insight into GW sources and the fundamental nature of spacetime.

From Evidence-Based Medicine to Knowledge Graph: Retrieval-Augmented Generation for Sports Rehabilitation and a Domain Benchmark

Current medical retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approaches overlook evidence-based medicine (EBM) principles, leading to two key gaps: (1) the lack of PICO alignment between queries and retrieved evidence, and (2) the absence of evidence hierarchy considerations during reranking. We present SR-RAG, an EBM-adapted GraphRAG framework that integrates the PICO framework into knowledge graph construction and retrieval, and proposes Bayesian Evidence Tier Reranking (BETR) to calibrate ranking scores by evidence grade without predefined weights. Validated in sports rehabilitation, we release a knowledge graph (357,844 nodes, 371,226 edges) and a benchmark of 1,637 QA pairs. SR-RAG achieves 0.812 evidence recall@10, 0.830 nugget coverage, 0.819 answer faithfulness, 0.882 semantic similarity, and 0.788 PICOT match accuracy, substantially outperforming five baselines. Five expert clinicians rated the system 4.66--4.84 on a 5-point Likert scale, and system rankings are preserved on a human-verified gold subset (n=80).

Speed by Simplicity: A Single-Stream Architecture for Fast Audio-Video Generative Foundation Model

We present daVinci-MagiHuman, an open-source audio-video generative foundation model for human-centric generation. daVinci-MagiHuman jointly generates synchronized video and audio using a single-stream Transformer that processes text, video, and audio within a unified token sequence via self-attention only. This single-stream design avoids the complexity of multi-stream or cross-attention architectures while remaining easy to optimize with standard training and inference infrastructure. The model is particularly strong in human-centric scenarios, producing expressive facial performance, natural speech-expression coordination, realistic body motion, and precise audio-video synchronization. It supports multilingual spoken generation across Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), English, Japanese, Korean, German, and French. For efficient inference, we combine the single-stream backbone with model distillation, latent-space super-resolution, and a Turbo VAE decoder, enabling generation of a 5-second 256p video in 2 seconds on a single H100 GPU. In automatic evaluation, daVinci-MagiHuman achieves the highest visual quality and text alignment among leading open models, along with the lowest word error rate (14.60%) for speech intelligibility. In pairwise human evaluation, it achieves win rates of 80.0% against Ovi 1.1 and 60.9% against LTX 2.3 over 2000 comparisons. We open-source the complete model stack, including the base model, the distilled model, the super-resolution model, and the inference codebase.

GenFacet: End-to-End Generative Faceted Search via Multi-Task Preference Alignment in E-Commerce

Faceted search acts as a critical bridge for navigating massive ecommerce catalogs, yet traditional systems rely on static rule-based extraction or statistical ranking, struggling with emerging vocabulary, semantic gaps, and a disconnect between facet selection and underlying retrieval. In this paper, we introduce GenFacet, an industrial-grade, end-to-end generative framework deployed at JD.com. GenFacet reframes faceted search as two coupled generative tasks within a unified Large Language Model: Context-Aware Facet Generation, which dynamically synthesizes trend-responsive navigation options, and Intent-Driven Query Rewriting, which translates user interactions into precise search queries to close the retrieval loop. To bridge the gap between generative capabilities and search utility, we propose a novel multi-task training pipeline combining teacher-student distillation with GRPO. This aligns the model with complex user preferences by directly optimizing for downstream search satisfaction. Validated on China's largest selfoperated e-commerce platform via rigorous offline evaluations and online A/B tests, GenFacet demonstrated substantial improvements. Specifically, online results reveal a relative increase of 42.0% in facet Click-Through Rate (CTR) and 2.0% in User Conversion Rate (UCVR). These outcomes provide strong evidence of the benefits of generative methods for improving query understanding and user engagement in large-scale information retrieval systems.

Discovering Decoupled Functional Modules in Large Language Models

Understanding the internal functional organization of Large Language Models (LLMs) is crucial for improving their trustworthiness and performance. However, how LLMs organize different functions into modules remains highly unexplored. To bridge this gap, we formulate a functional module discovery problem and propose an Unsupervised LLM Cross-layer MOdule Discovery (ULCMOD) framework that simultaneously disentangles the large set of neurons in the entire LLM into modules while discovering the topics of input samples related to these modules. Our framework introduces a novel objective function and an efficient Iterative Decoupling (IterD) algorithm. Extensive experiments show that our method discovers high-quality, disentangled modules that capture more meaningful semantic information and achieve superior performance in various downstream tasks. Moreover, our qualitative analysis reveals that the discovered modules show semantic coherence, correspond to interpretable specializations, and a clear spatial and hierarchical organization within the LLM. Our work provides a novel tool for interpreting the functional modules of LLMs, filling a critical blank in LLM's interpretability research.

An Evolutionary Algorithm with Probabilistic Annealing for Large-scale Sparse Multi-objective Optimization

Large-scale sparse multi-objective optimization problems (LSMOPs) are prevalent in real-world applications, where optimal solutions typically contain only a few nonzero variables, such as in adversarial attacks, critical node detection, and sparse signal reconstruction. Since the function evaluation of LSMOPs often relies on large-scale datasets involving a large number of decision variables, the search space becomes extremely high-dimensional. The coexistence of sparsity and high dimensionality greatly intensifies the conflict between exploration and exploitation, making it difficult for existing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) to identify the critical nonzero decision variables within limited function evaluations. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an evolutionary algorithm with probabilistic annealing for large-scale sparse multi-objective optimization. The algorithm is driven by two probability vectors with distinct entropy characteristics: a convergence-oriented probability vector with relatively low entropy ensures stable exploitation, whereas an annealed probability vector with gradually decreasing entropy enables an adaptive transition from global exploration to local refinement. By integrating these complementary search dynamics, the proposed algorithm achieves a dynamic equilibrium between exploration and exploitation. Experimental results on benchmark problems and real-world applications demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art evolutionary algorithms in terms of both convergence and diversity.

CogSearch: A Cognitive-Aligned Multi-Agent Framework for Proactive Decision Support in E-Commerce Search

Modern e-commerce search engines, largely rooted in passive retrieval-and-ranking models, frequently fail to support complex decision-making, leaving users overwhelmed by cognitive friction. In this paper, we introduce CogSearch, a novel cognitive-oriented multi-agent framework that reimagines e-commerce search as a proactive decision support system. By synergizing four specialized agents, CogSearch mimics human cognitive workflows: it decomposes intricate user intents, fuses heterogeneous knowledge across internal and external sources, and delivers highly actionable insights. Our offline benchmarks validate CogSearch's excellence in consultative and complex search scenarios. Extensive online A/B testing on JD.com demonstrates the system's transformative impact: it reduced decision costs by 5% and achieved a 0.41% increase in overall UCVR, with a remarkable 30% surge in conversion for decision-heavy queries. CogSearch represents a fundamental shift in information retrieval, moving beyond traditional relevance-centric paradigms toward a future of holistic, collaborative decision intelligence.

The Legendre transform, the Laplace transform and valuations

We first prove that the Legendre transform is the only continuous and $\mathrm{SL}(n)$ contravariant valuation that behaves as a conjugation of two important translations on super-coercive, lower semi-continuous, and convex functions. Then we turn to a similar setting on log-concave functions and find characterizations of not merely the duality transform but also the Laplace transform on log-concave functions. With the notion of dual valuation, we also obtain characterizations of the identity transform on finite convex functions and positive log-concave functions.

Chiral exceptional bound states in the continuum: a higher-order singularity for on-chip control of quantum emission

We demonstrate a fully integrable and reconfigurable platform for controlling quantum emission by harnessing chiral exceptional bound states in the continuum (BICs) as a higher-order non-Hermitian singularity. Our architecture employs dual-microring resonators evanescently coupled to two waveguides, supporting symmetry-protected BICs. By integrating {a waveguide-coupled reflector} coupled with one resonator as a unidirectional feedback, a pair of orthogonal BICs gets transformed into a single, {chiral quasi-BIC} residing on an exceptional surface. The phase terms in external coupling and inter-modal coupling serve as two independent tuning knobs, enabling unprecedented dynamic control over the spontaneous emission dynamics of individual quantum emitters, including the Purcell enhancement and the emission lineshape. The efficiency in reconfiguring the output intensity gets promoted by more than a factor of two compared to alternative schemes, offering a promising path toward high-speed quantum optical switches and active lifetime control in integrated quantum photonic circuits.

AdaIAT: Adaptively Increasing Attention to Generated Text to Alleviate Hallucinations in LVLM

Hallucination has been a significant impediment to the development and application of current Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs). To mitigate hallucinations, one intuitive and effective way is to directly increase attention weights to image tokens during inference. Although this effectively reduces the hallucination rate, it often induces repetitive descriptions. To address this, we first conduct an analysis of attention patterns and reveal that real object tokens tend to assign higher attention to the generated text than hallucinated ones. This inspires us to leverage the generated text, which contains instruction-related visual information and contextual knowledge, to alleviate hallucinations while maintaining linguistic coherence. We therefore propose Attention to Generated Text (IAT) and demonstrate that it significantly reduces the hallucination rate while avoiding repetitive descriptions. To prevent naive amplification from impairing the inherent prediction capabilities of LVLMs, we further explore Adaptive IAT (AdaIAT) that employs a layer-wise threshold to control intervention time and fine-grained amplification magnitude tailored to the characteristics of each attention head. Both analysis and experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of AdaIAT. Results of several LVLMs show that AdaIAT effectively alleviates hallucination (reducing hallucination rates $C_S$ and $C_I$ on LLaVA-1.5 by 35.8% and 37.1%, respectively) while preserving linguistic performance and prediction capability, achieving an attractive trade-off.

Adapting Speech Foundation Models for Unified Multimodal Speech Recognition with Large Language Models

While speech foundation models (SFMs) have demonstrated remarkable performance in audio-only tasks, their adaptation to multimodal scenarios remains underexplored. This work presents UASR-LLM, a novel framework that adapts frozen SFMs to unified visual speech recognition (VSR), automatic speech recognition (ASR), and audio-visual speech recognition (AVSR) by leveraging large language models (LLMs) as text decoders. Visual representations are injected into multiple SFM layers via visual injection modules, enabling multimodal fusion and unified representation learning. The augmented SFMs are connected to decoder-only LLMs through a feed-forward adaptor, where concatenated representations and instruction prompts guide transcription. We propose a two-stage training strategy consisting of visual injection pretraining followed by speech recognition finetuning. The pretraining stage aligns audio, visual, and audio-visual representations within the frozen SFM backbone, while the finetuning stage integrates LLMs for unified optimization across speech recognition tasks. Experimental results demonstrate superior performance over state-of-the-art baselines across VSR, ASR, and AVSR under both clean and noisy conditions. Ablation studies further confirm generalization across various SFMs and LLMs, validating the effectiveness of the proposed training strategy.

Efficient endometrial carcinoma screening via cross-modal synthesis and gradient distillation

Early detection of myometrial invasion is critical for the staging and life-saving management of endometrial carcinoma (EC), a prevalent global malignancy. Transvaginal ultrasound serves as the primary, accessible screening modality in resource-constrained primary care settings; however, its diagnostic reliability is severely hindered by low tissue contrast, high operator dependence, and a pronounced scarcity of positive pathological samples. Existing artificial intelligence solutions struggle to overcome this severe class imbalance and the subtle imaging features of invasion, particularly under the strict computational limits of primary care clinics. Here we present an automated, highly efficient two-stage deep learning framework that resolves both data and computational bottlenecks in EC screening. To mitigate pathological data scarcity, we develop a structure-guided cross-modal generation network that synthesizes diverse, high-fidelity ultrasound images from unpaired magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data, strictly preserving clinically essential anatomical junctions. Furthermore, we introduce a lightweight screening network utilizing gradient distillation, which transfers discriminative knowledge from a high-capacity teacher model to dynamically guide sparse attention towards task-critical regions. Evaluated on a large, multicenter cohort of 7,951 participants, our model achieves a sensitivity of 99.5\%, a specificity of 97.2\%, and an area under the curve of 0.987 at a minimal computational cost (0.289 GFLOPs), substantially outperforming the average diagnostic accuracy of expert sonographers. Our approach demonstrates that combining cross-modal synthetic augmentation with knowledge-driven efficient modeling can democratize expert-level, real-time cancer screening for resource-constrained primary care settings.

Drift-Aware Variational Autoencoder-based Anomaly Detection with Two-level Ensembling

In today's digital world, the generation of vast amounts of streaming data in various domains has become ubiquitous. However, many of these data are unlabeled, making it challenging to identify events, particularly anomalies. This task becomes even more formidable in nonstationary environments where model performance can deteriorate over time due to concept drift. To address these challenges, this paper presents a novel method, VAE++ESDD, which employs incremental learning and two-level ensembling: an ensemble of Variational AutoEncoder(VAEs) for anomaly prediction, along with an ensemble of concept drift detectors. Each drift detector utilizes a statistical-based concept drift mechanism. To evaluate the effectiveness of VAE++ESDD, we conduct a comprehensive experimental study using real-world and synthetic datasets characterized by severely or extremely low anomalous rates and various drift characteristics. Our study reveals that the proposed method significantly outperforms both strong baselines and state-of-the-art methods.

Our approach leverages cross-attention layers in multimodal models, exemplified by BLIP-2, to extract valuable information for token importance determination. CATP employs a refined voting strategy across model heads and layers. In evaluations, CATP achieves up to 12.1X higher accuracy compared to existing token pruning methods, addressing the trade-off between computational efficiency and model precision.

Resilient Class-Incremental Learning: on the Interplay of Drifting, Unlabelled and Imbalanced Data Streams

In today's connected world, the generation of massive streaming data across diverse domains has become commonplace. In the presence of concept drift, class imbalance, label scarcity, and new class emergence, they jointly degrade representation stability, bias learning toward outdated distributions, and reduce the resilience and reliability of detection in dynamic environments. This paper proposes SCIL (Streaming Class-Incremental Learning) to address these challenges. The SCIL framework integrates an autoencoder (AE) with a multi-layer perceptron for multi-class prediction, uses a dual-loss strategy (classification and reconstruction) for prediction and new class detection, employs corrected pseudo-labels for online training, manages classes with queues, and applies oversampling to handle imbalance. The rationale behind the method's structure is elucidated through ablation studies and a comprehensive experimental evaluation is performed using both real-world and synthetic datasets that feature class imbalance, incremental classes, and concept drifts. Our results demonstrate that SCIL outperforms strong baselines and state-of-the-art methods. Based on our commitment to Open Science, we make our code and datasets available to the community.

Towards Fair Large Language Model-based Recommender Systems without Costly Retraining

Large Language Models (LLMs) have revolutionized Recommender Systems (RS) through advanced generative user modeling. However, LLM-based RS (LLM-RS) often inadvertently perpetuates bias present in the training data, leading to severe fairness issues. Addressing these fairness problems in LLM-RS faces two significant challenges. 1) Existing debiasing methods, designed for specific bias types, lack the generality to handle diverse or emerging biases in real-world applications. 2) Debiasing methods relying on retraining are computationally infeasible given the massive parameter scale of LLMs. To overcome these challenges, we propose FUDLR (Fast Unified Debiasing for LLM-RS). The core idea is to reformulate the debiasing problem as an efficient machine unlearning task with two stages. First, FUDLR identifies bias-inducing samples to unlearn through a novel bias-agnostic mask, optimized to balance fairness improvement with accuracy preservation. Its bias-agnostic design allows adaptability to various or co-existing biases simply by incorporating different fairness metrics. Second, FUDLR performs efficient debiasing by estimating and removing the influence of identified samples on model parameters. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FUDLR effectively and efficiently improves fairness while preserving recommendation accuracy, offering a practical path toward socially responsible LLM-RS. The code and data are available at https://github.com/JinLi-i/FUDLR.

Signal-Adaptive Trust Regions for Gradient-Free Optimization of Recurrent Spiking Neural Networks

Recurrent spiking neural networks (RSNNs) are a promising substrate for energy-efficient control policies, but training them for high-dimensional, long-horizon reinforcement learning remains challenging. Population-based, gradient-free optimization circumvents backpropagation through non-differentiable spike dynamics by estimating gradients. However, with finite populations, high variance of these estimates can induce harmful and overly aggressive update steps. Inspired by trust-region methods in reinforcement learning that constrain policy updates in distribution space, we propose \textbf{Signal-Adaptive Trust Regions (SATR)}, a distributional update rule that constrains relative change by bounding KL divergence normalized by an estimated signal energy. SATR automatically expands the trust region under strong signals and contracts it when updates are noise-dominated. We instantiate SATR for Bernoulli connectivity distributions, which have shown strong empirical performance for RSNN optimization. Across a suite of high-dimensional continuous-control benchmarks, SATR improves stability under limited populations and reaches competitive returns against strong baselines including PPO-LSTM. In addition, to make SATR practical at scale, we introduce a bitset implementation for binary spiking and binary weights, substantially reducing wall-clock training time and enabling fast RSNN policy search.
