SuPseudo: A Pseudo-supervised Learning Method for Neural Speech Enhancement in Far-field Speech Recognition

Due to the lack of target speech annotations in real-recorded far-field conversational datasets, speech enhancement (SE) models are typically trained on simulated data. However, the trained models often perform poorly in real-world conditions, hindering their application in far-field speech recognition. To address the issue, we (a) propose direct sound estimation (DSE) to estimate the oracle direct sound of real-recorded data for SE; and (b) present a novel pseudo-supervised learning method, SuPseudo, which leverages DSE-estimates as pseudo-labels and enables SE models to directly learn from and adapt to real-recorded data, thereby improving their generalization capability. Furthermore, an SE model called FARNET is designed to fully utilize SuPseudo. Experiments on the MISP2023 corpus demonstrate the effectiveness of SuPseudo, and our system significantly outperforms the previous state-of-the-art. A demo of our method can be found at https://EeLLJ.github.io/SuPseudo/.

SegmentAnyMuscle: A universal muscle segmentation model across different locations in MRI

The quantity and quality of muscles are increasingly recognized as important predictors of health outcomes. While MRI offers a valuable modality for such assessments, obtaining precise quantitative measurements of musculature remains challenging. This study aimed to develop a publicly available model for muscle segmentation in MRIs and demonstrate its applicability across various anatomical locations and imaging sequences. A total of 362 MRIs from 160 patients at a single tertiary center (Duke University Health System, 2016-2020) were included, with 316 MRIs from 114 patients used for model development. The model was tested on two separate sets: one with 28 MRIs representing common sequence types, achieving an average Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) of 88.45%, and another with 18 MRIs featuring less frequent sequences and abnormalities such as muscular atrophy, hardware, and significant noise, achieving 86.21% DSC. These results demonstrate the feasibility of a fully automated deep learning algorithm for segmenting muscles on MRI across diverse settings. The public release of this model enables consistent, reproducible research into the relationship between musculature and health.

MiniMax-M1: Scaling Test-Time Compute Efficiently with Lightning Attention

We introduce MiniMax-M1, the world's first open-weight, large-scale hybrid-attention reasoning model. MiniMax-M1 is powered by a hybrid Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture combined with a lightning attention mechanism. The model is developed based on our previous MiniMax-Text-01 model, which contains a total of 456 billion parameters with 45.9 billion parameters activated per token. The M1 model natively supports a context length of 1 million tokens, 8x the context size of DeepSeek R1. Furthermore, the lightning attention mechanism in MiniMax-M1 enables efficient scaling of test-time compute. These properties make M1 particularly suitable for complex tasks that require processing long inputs and thinking extensively. MiniMax-M1 is trained using large-scale reinforcement learning (RL) on diverse problems including sandbox-based, real-world software engineering environments. In addition to M1's inherent efficiency advantage for RL training, we propose CISPO, a novel RL algorithm to further enhance RL efficiency. CISPO clips importance sampling weights rather than token updates, outperforming other competitive RL variants. Combining hybrid-attention and CISPO enables MiniMax-M1's full RL training on 512 H800 GPUs to complete in only three weeks, with a rental cost of just $534,700. We release two versions of MiniMax-M1 models with 40K and 80K thinking budgets respectively, where the 40K model represents an intermediate phase of the 80K training. Experiments on standard benchmarks show that our models are comparable or superior to strong open-weight models such as the original DeepSeek-R1 and Qwen3-235B, with particular strengths in complex software engineering, tool utilization, and long-context tasks. We publicly release MiniMax-M1 at https://github.com/MiniMax-AI/MiniMax-M1.

Disentangling Dual-Encoder Masked Autoencoder for Respiratory Sound Classification

Deep neural networks have been applied to audio spectrograms for respiratory sound classification, but it remains challenging to achieve satisfactory performance due to the scarcity of available data. Moreover, domain mismatch may be introduced into the trained models as a result of the respiratory sound samples being collected from various electronic stethoscopes, patient demographics, and recording environments. To tackle this issue, we proposed a modified MaskedAutoencoder(MAE) model, named Disentangling Dual-Encoder MAE (DDE-MAE) for respiratory sound classification. Two independent encoders were designed to capture disease-related and disease-irrelevant information separately, achieving feature disentanglement to reduce the domain mismatch. Our method achieves a competitive performance on the ICBHI dataset.

Speaker Diarization with Overlapping Community Detection Using Graph Attention Networks and Label Propagation Algorithm

In speaker diarization, traditional clustering-based methods remain widely used in real-world applications. However, these methods struggle with the complex distribution of speaker embeddings and overlapping speech segments. To address these limitations, we propose an Overlapping Community Detection method based on Graph Attention networks and the Label Propagation Algorithm (OCDGALP). The proposed framework comprises two key components: (1) a graph attention network that refines speaker embeddings and node connections by aggregating information from neighboring nodes, and (2) a label propagation algorithm that assigns multiple community labels to each node, enabling simultaneous clustering and overlapping community detection. Experimental results show that the proposed method significantly reduces the Diarization Error Rate (DER), achieving a state-of-the-art 15.94% DER on the DIHARD-III dataset without oracle Voice Activity Detection (VAD), and an impressive 11.07% with oracle VAD.

Cross-attention and Self-attention for Audio-visual Speaker Diarization in MISP-Meeting Challenge

This paper presents the system developed for Task 1 of the Multi-modal Information-based Speech Processing (MISP) 2025 Challenge. We introduce CASA-Net, an embedding fusion method designed for end-to-end audio-visual speaker diarization (AVSD) systems. CASA-Net incorporates a cross-attention (CA) module to effectively capture cross-modal interactions in audio-visual signals and employs a self-attention (SA) module to learn contextual relationships among audio-visual frames. To further enhance performance, we adopt a training strategy that integrates pseudo-label refinement and retraining, improving the accuracy of timestamp predictions. Additionally, median filtering and overlap averaging are applied as post-processing techniques to eliminate outliers and smooth prediction labels. Our system achieved a diarization error rate (DER) of 8.18% on the evaluation set, representing a relative improvement of 47.3% over the baseline DER of 15.52%.

Enhancing LLM Reasoning for Time Series Classification by Tailored Thinking and Fused Decision

The reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) have significantly advanced their performance by enabling in-depth understanding of diverse tasks. With growing interest in applying LLMs to the time series domain, this has proven nontrivial, as evidenced by the limited efficacy of straightforwardly adapting text-domain reasoning techniques. Although recent work has shown promise in several time series tasks, further leveraging advancements in LLM reasoning remains under-explored for time series classification (TSC) tasks, despite their prevalence and significance in many real-world applications. In this paper, we propose ReasonTSC, a novel framework designed to effectively leverage LLM reasoning for time series classification through both a multi-turn reasoning and a fused decision-making strategy tailored to TSC. Rather than straightforwardly applying existing reasoning techniques or relying solely on LLMs' built-in reasoning capabilities, ReasonTSC first steers the model to think over the essential characteristics of time series data. Next, it integrates predictions and confidence scores from plug-in classifiers, e.g., domain-specific time series models, as in-context examples. Finally, ReasonTSC guides the LLM through a structured reasoning process: it evaluates the initial assessment, backtracks to consider alternative hypotheses, and compares their merits before arriving at a final classification. Extensive experiments and systematic ablation studies demonstrate that ReasonTSC consistently outperforms both existing time series reasoning baselines and plug-in models, and is even capable of identifying and correcting plug-in models' false predictions.

A Two-Stage Hierarchical Deep Filtering Framework for Real-Time Speech Enhancement

This paper proposes a model that integrates sub-band processing and deep filtering to fully exploit information from the target time-frequency (TF) bin and its surrounding TF bins for single-channel speech enhancement. The sub-band module captures surrounding frequency bin information at the input, while the deep filtering module applies filtering at the output to both the target TF bin and its surrounding TF bins. To further improve the model performance, we decouple deep filtering into temporal and frequency components and introduce a two-stage framework, reducing the complexity of filter coefficient prediction at each stage. Additionally, we propose the TAConv module to strengthen convolutional feature extraction. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed hierarchical deep filtering network (HDF-Net) effectively utilizes surrounding TF bin information and outperforms other advanced systems while using fewer resources.

ReFlow-VC: Zero-shot Voice Conversion Based on Rectified Flow and Speaker Feature Optimization

In recent years, diffusion-based generative models have demonstrated remarkable performance in speech conversion, including Denoising Diffusion Probabilistic Models (DDPM) and others. However, the advantages of these models come at the cost of requiring a large number of sampling steps. This limitation hinders their practical application in real-world scenarios. In this paper, we introduce ReFlow-VC, a novel high-fidelity speech conversion method based on rectified flow. Specifically, ReFlow-VC is an Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) model that transforms a Gaussian distribution to the true Mel-spectrogram distribution along the most direct path. Furthermore, we propose a modeling approach that optimizes speaker features by utilizing both content and pitch information, allowing speaker features to reflect the properties of the current speech more accurately. Experimental results show that ReFlow-VC performs exceptionally well in small datasets and zero-shot scenarios.

Discl-VC: Disentangled Discrete Tokens and In-Context Learning for Controllable Zero-Shot Voice Conversion

Currently, zero-shot voice conversion systems are capable of synthesizing the voice of unseen speakers. However, most existing approaches struggle to accurately replicate the speaking style of the source speaker or mimic the distinctive speaking style of the target speaker, thereby limiting the controllability of voice conversion. In this work, we propose Discl-VC, a novel voice conversion framework that disentangles content and prosody information from self-supervised speech representations and synthesizes the target speaker's voice through in-context learning with a flow matching transformer. To enable precise control over the prosody of generated speech, we introduce a mask generative transformer that predicts discrete prosody tokens in a non-autoregressive manner based on prompts. Experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of Discl-VC in zero-shot voice conversion and its remarkable accuracy in prosody control for synthesized speech.

DS-Codec: Dual-Stage Training with Mirror-to-NonMirror Architecture Switching for Speech Codec

Neural speech codecs are essential for advancing text-to-speech (TTS) systems. With the recent success of large language models in text generation, developing high-quality speech tokenizers has become increasingly important. This paper introduces DS-Codec, a novel neural speech codec featuring a dual-stage training framework with mirror and non-mirror architectures switching, designed to achieve superior speech reconstruction. We conduct extensive experiments and ablation studies to evaluate the effectiveness of our training strategy and compare the performance of the two architectures. Our results show that the mirrored structure significantly enhances the robustness of the learned codebooks, and the training strategy balances the advantages between mirrored and non-mirrored structures, leading to improved high-fidelity speech reconstruction.

Risk-aware Direct Preference Optimization under Nested Risk Measure

When fine-tuning pre-trained Large Language Models (LLMs) to align with human values and intentions, maximizing the estimated reward can lead to superior performance, but it also introduces potential risks due to deviations from the reference model's intended behavior. Most existing methods typically introduce KL divergence to constrain deviations between the trained model and the reference model; however, this may not be sufficient in certain applications that require tight risk control. In this paper, we introduce Risk-aware Direct Preference Optimization (Ra-DPO), a novel approach that incorporates risk-awareness by employing a class of nested risk measures. This approach formulates a constrained risk-aware advantage function maximization problem and then converts the Bradley-Terry model into a token-level representation. The objective function maximizes the likelihood of the policy while suppressing the deviation between a trained model and the reference model using a sequential risk ratio, thereby enhancing the model's risk-awareness. Experimental results across three open-source datasets: IMDb Dataset, Anthropic HH Dataset, and AlpacaEval, demonstrate the proposed method's superior performance in balancing alignment performance and model drift. Our code is opensourced at https://github.com/zlj123-max/Ra-DPO.

Pangu Embedded: An Efficient Dual-system LLM Reasoner with Metacognition

This work presents Pangu Embedded, an efficient Large Language Model (LLM) reasoner developed on Ascend Neural Processing Units (NPUs), featuring flexible fast and slow thinking capabilities. Pangu Embedded addresses the significant computational costs and inference latency challenges prevalent in existing reasoning-optimized LLMs. We propose a two-stage training framework for its construction. In Stage 1, the model is finetuned via an iterative distillation process, incorporating inter-iteration model merging to effectively aggregate complementary knowledge. This is followed by reinforcement learning on Ascend clusters, optimized by a latency-tolerant scheduler that combines stale synchronous parallelism with prioritized data queues. The RL process is guided by a Multi-source Adaptive Reward System (MARS), which generates dynamic, task-specific reward signals using deterministic metrics and lightweight LLM evaluators for mathematics, coding, and general problem-solving tasks. Stage 2 introduces a dual-system framework, endowing Pangu Embedded with a "fast" mode for routine queries and a deeper "slow" mode for complex inference. This framework offers both manual mode switching for user control and an automatic, complexity-aware mode selection mechanism that dynamically allocates computational resources to balance latency and reasoning depth. Experimental results on benchmarks including AIME 2024, GPQA, and LiveCodeBench demonstrate that Pangu Embedded with 7B parameters, outperforms similar-size models like Qwen3-8B and GLM4-9B. It delivers rapid responses and state-of-the-art reasoning quality within a single, unified model architecture, highlighting a promising direction for developing powerful yet practically deployable LLM reasoners.

The Role of Intangible Investment in Predicting Stock Returns: Six Decades of Evidence

Using an intangible intensity factor that is orthogonal to the Fama--French factors, we compare the role of intangible investment in predicting stock returns over the periods 1963--1992 and 1993--2022. For 1963--1992, intangible investment is weak in predicting stock returns, but for 1993--2022, the predictive power of intangible investment becomes very strong. Intangible investment has a significant impact not only on the MTB ratio (Fama--French high minus low [HML] factor) but also on operating profitability (OP) (Fama--French robust minus weak [RMW] factor) when forecasting stock returns from 1993 to 2022. For intangible asset-intensive firms, intangible investment is the main predictor of stock returns, rather than MTB ratio and profitability. Our evidence suggests that intangible investment has become an important factor in explaining stock returns over time, independent of other factors such as profitability and MTB ratio.

GuidedMorph: Two-Stage Deformable Registration for Breast MRI

Accurately registering breast MR images from different time points enables the alignment of anatomical structures and tracking of tumor progression, supporting more effective breast cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment planning. However, the complexity of dense tissue and its highly non-rigid nature pose challenges for conventional registration methods, which primarily focus on aligning general structures while overlooking intricate internal details. To address this, we propose \textbf{GuidedMorph}, a novel two-stage registration framework designed to better align dense tissue. In addition to a single-scale network for global structure alignment, we introduce a framework that utilizes dense tissue information to track breast movement. The learned transformation fields are fused by introducing the Dual Spatial Transformer Network (DSTN), improving overall alignment accuracy. A novel warping method based on the Euclidean distance transform (EDT) is also proposed to accurately warp the registered dense tissue and breast masks, preserving fine structural details during deformation. The framework supports paradigms that require external segmentation models and with image data only. It also operates effectively with the VoxelMorph and TransMorph backbones, offering a versatile solution for breast registration. We validate our method on ISPY2 and internal dataset, demonstrating superior performance in dense tissue, overall breast alignment, and breast structural similarity index measure (SSIM), with notable improvements by over 13.01% in dense tissue Dice, 3.13% in breast Dice, and 1.21% in breast SSIM compared to the best learning-based baseline.

SlimSpeech: Lightweight and Efficient Text-to-Speech with Slim Rectified Flow

Recently, flow matching based speech synthesis has significantly enhanced the quality of synthesized speech while reducing the number of inference steps. In this paper, we introduce SlimSpeech, a lightweight and efficient speech synthesis system based on rectified flow. We have built upon the existing speech synthesis method utilizing the rectified flow model, modifying its structure to reduce parameters and serve as a teacher model. By refining the reflow operation, we directly derive a smaller model with a more straight sampling trajectory from the larger model, while utilizing distillation techniques to further enhance the model performance. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method, with significantly reduced model parameters, achieves comparable performance to larger models through one-step sampling.

Resonance properties and chaotic dynamics of a three-dimensional discrete logistic ecological system within the neighborhoods of bifurcation points

In this paper, we delve into the dynamical properties of a class of three-dimensional logistic ecological models. By using the complete discriminant theory of polynomials, we first give a topological classification for each fixed point and investigate the stability of corresponding system near the fixed points. Then employing the bifurcation and normal form theory, we discuss all possible codimension-1 bifurcations near the fixed points, i.e., transcritical, flip, and Neimark-Sacker bifurcations, and further prove that the system can undergo codimension-2 bifurcations, specifically 1:2, 1:3, 1:4 strong resonances and weak resonance Arnold tongues. Additionally, chaotic behaviors in the sense of Marotto are rigorously analyzed. Numerical simulations are conducted to validate the theoretical findings and illustrate the complex dynamical phenomena identified.

Divide-and-Conquer: Cold-Start Bundle Recommendation via Mixture of Diffusion Experts

Cold-start bundle recommendation focuses on modeling new bundles with insufficient information to provide recommendations. Advanced bundle recommendation models usually learn bundle representations from multiple views (e.g., interaction view) at both the bundle and item levels. Consequently, the cold-start problem for bundles is more challenging than that for traditional items due to the dual-level multi-view complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel Mixture of Diffusion Experts (MoDiffE) framework, which employs a divide-and-conquer strategy for cold-start bundle recommendation and follows three steps:(1) Divide: The bundle cold-start problem is divided into independent but similar sub-problems sequentially by level and view, which can be summarized as the poor representation of feature-missing bundles in prior-embedding models. (2) Conquer: Beyond prior-embedding models that fundamentally provide the embedded representations, we introduce a diffusion-based method to solve all sub-problems in a unified way, which directly generates diffusion representations using diffusion models without depending on specific features. (3) Combine: A cold-aware hierarchical Mixture of Experts (MoE) is employed to combine results of the sub-problems for final recommendations, where the two models for each view serve as experts and are adaptively fused for different bundles in a multi-layer manner. Additionally, MoDiffE adopts a multi-stage decoupled training pipeline and introduces a cold-start gating augmentation method to enable the training of gating for cold bundles. Through extensive experiments on three real-world datasets, we demonstrate that MoDiffE significantly outperforms existing solutions in handling cold-start bundle recommendation. It achieves up to a 0.1027 absolute gain in Recall@20 in cold-start scenarios and up to a 47.43\% relative improvement in all-bundle scenarios.
