Invariant random subgroups on certain orbits

Let $G$ be a connected Lie group and $\text{Sub}_G$ be the space of closed subgroups of $G$ equipped with the Chabauty topology. In this article, we investigate the existence of invariant random subgroups of $G$ supported on various orbits of the conjugation action of $G$ on $\text{Sub}_G$.

On the distality and expansivity of certain maps on spheres

Any affine map on the (n+1)-dimensional Euclidean space gives rise to a natural map on the n-dimensional sphere whose dynamical aspects are not so well-studied in the literature. We explore the dynamical aspects of these maps by investigating about their distality and expansivity.

On values of isotropic quadratic forms

Let $K$ be a locally compact non-discrete field of characteristic $p>2$ and $Q$ be a non-degenerate isotropic binary quadratic form with coefficients in $K$. We obtain asymptotic estimates for the number of solutions in the two-fold product of a discrete subring inside $K$, of the inequalities of the form $|Q(x,y)|<δ$ for some $δ>0$, where $| \cdot |$ is an ultrametric absolute value on $K$. The estimates are obtained in terms of continued fraction expansions of the coefficients of the quadratic form $Q$.

On certain orbits of geodesic flow and (a,b)-continued fractions

In this article, we characterize two kinds of exceptional orbits of the geodesic flow associated with the Modular surface in terms of a two-parameter family of continued fraction expansion of endpoints of the lifts to the hyperbolic plane of the corresponding geodesics. As a consequence, we obtain an extension of Dani correspondence between homogeneous dynamics and Diophantine approximation.

Nilpotent Lie groups and hyperbolic automorphisms

A connected Lie group admitting an expansive automorphism is known to be nilpotent, but all nilpotent Lie groups do not admit expansive automorphism. In this article, we find sufficient conditions for a class of nilpotent Lie groups to admit expansive automorphism.

On values of binary quadratic forms at integer points

We obtain estimates for the number of integral solutions in large balls, of inequalities of the form $|Q(x, y)| < ε$, where $Q$ is an indefinite binary quadratic form, in terms of the Hurwitz continued fraction expansions of the slopes of the lines on which $Q$ vanishes. The method is based on a coding of geodesics on the modular surface via Hurwitz expansions of the endpoints of their lifts in the Poincare half-plane.
