Higgs pair production and Higgs potential in arbitrary renormalisable extensions of the Higgs sector
Higgs self-interactions are crucial for probing the up to now largely unknown form of the Higgs potential that is realised in nature. Higgs boson pair production at the (High-Luminosity) LHC is of prime importance in this context as it provides experimental access to the trilinear Higgs self-interaction that enters at leading order in this process. The predictions for the trilinear Higgs self-couplings and the shape of the Higgs potential can vastly differ from the predictions of the Standard Model (SM) as a consequence of physics beyond the SM (BSM). If additional particles are relatively light (but in agreement with all existing experimental and theoretical constraints), their effects may not necessarily be accurately described by established effective field theory methods. Because of the potentially large modifications compared to the SM predictions the di-Higgs process has a high sensitivity for probing BSM physics. In order to enable the comparison between experiment and theory for a wide range of BSM models, automatised predictions for double Higgs production are in order. In this contribution to the LHC Higgs Working Group Report 5 we present \texttt{anyHH}, a novel tool for calculating the Higgs boson pair production cross-section in gluon fusion, which is the dominant production process for two Higgs bosons at the (HL-)LHC, for arbitrary renormalisable extensions of the Higgs sector.
