Physics-Informed Implicit Neural Representations for Joint B0 Estimation and Echo Planar Imaging

Echo Planar Imaging (EPI) is widely used for its rapid acquisition but suffers from severe geometric distortions due to B0 inhomogeneities, particularly along the phase encoding direction. Existing methods follow a two-step process: reconstructing blip-up/down EPI images, then estimating B0, which can introduce error accumulation and reduce correction accuracy. This is especially problematic in high B0 regions, where distortions align along the same axis, making them harder to disentangle. In this work, we propose a novel approach that integrates Implicit Neural Representations (INRs) with a physics-informed correction model to jointly estimate B0 inhomogeneities and reconstruct distortion-free images from rotated-view EPI acquisitions. INRs offer a flexible, continuous representation that inherently captures complex spatial variations without requiring predefined grid-based field maps. By leveraging this property, our method dynamically adapts to subject-specific B0 variations and improves robustness across different imaging conditions. Experimental results on 180 slices of brain images from three subjects demonstrate that our approach outperforms traditional methods in terms of reconstruction quality and field estimation accuracy.

TBDetector:Transformer-Based Detector for Advanced Persistent Threats with Provenance Graph

APT detection is difficult to detect due to the long-term latency, covert and slow multistage attack patterns of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT). To tackle these issues, we propose TBDetector, a transformer-based advanced persistent threat detection method for APT attack detection. Considering that provenance graphs provide rich historical information and have the powerful attacks historic correlation ability to identify anomalous activities, TBDetector employs provenance analysis for APT detection, which summarizes long-running system execution with space efficiency and utilizes transformer with self-attention based encoder-decoder to extract long-term contextual features of system states to detect slow-acting attacks. Furthermore, we further introduce anomaly scores to investigate the anomaly of different system states, where each state is calculated with an anomaly score corresponding to its similarity score and isolation score. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we have conducted experiments on five public datasets, i.e., streamspot, cadets, shellshock, clearscope, and wget_baseline. Experimental results and comparisons with state-of-the-art methods have exhibited better performance of our proposed method.

jina-embeddings-v4: Universal Embeddings for Multimodal Multilingual Retrieval

We introduce jina-embeddings-v4, a 3.8 billion parameter multimodal embedding model that unifies text and image representations through a novel architecture supporting both single-vector and multi-vector embeddings in the late interaction style. The model incorporates task-specific Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) adapters to optimize performance across diverse retrieval scenarios, including query-document retrieval, semantic text similarity, and code search. Comprehensive evaluations demonstrate that jina-embeddings-v4 achieves state-of-the-art performance on both single-modal and cross-modal retrieval tasks, with particular strength in processing visually rich content such as tables, charts, diagrams, and mixed-media formats. To facilitate evaluation of this capability, we also introduce Jina-VDR, a novel benchmark specifically designed for visually rich image retrieval.

cHyRRT and cHySST: Two Motion Planning Tools for Hybrid Dynamical Systems

This paper presents two implementations of the recently developed motion planning algorithms HyRRT arXiv:2210.1508(2) and HySST arXiv:2305.1864(9). Specifically, cHyRRT, an implementation of the HyRRT algorithm, generates solutions to motion planning problems for hybrid systems with a probabilistic completeness guarantee, while cHySST, an implementation of the asymptotically near-optimal HySST algorithm, finds near-optimal trajectories based on a user-defined cost function. The implementations align with the theoretical foundations of hybrid system theory and are designed based on OMPL, ensuring compatibility with ROS while prioritizing computational efficiency. The structure, components, and usage of both tools are detailed. A modified pinball game and collision-resilient tensegrity multicopter example are provided to illustrate the tools' key capabilities.

A$^2$ATS: Retrieval-Based KV Cache Reduction via Windowed Rotary Position Embedding and Query-Aware Vector Quantization

Long context large language models (LLMs) pose significant challenges for efficient serving due to the large memory footprint and high access overhead of KV cache. Retrieval-based KV cache reduction methods can mitigate these challenges, typically by offloading the complete KV cache to CPU and retrieving necessary tokens on demand during inference. However, these methods still suffer from unsatisfactory accuracy degradation and extra retrieval overhead. To address these limitations, this paper proposes A$^2$ATS, a novel retrieval-based KV cache reduction method. A$^2$ATS aims to obtain an accurate approximation of attention scores by applying the vector quantization technique to key states, thereby enabling efficient and precise retrieval of the top-K tokens. First, we propose Windowed Rotary Position Embedding, which decouples the positional dependency from query and key states after position embedding. Then, we propose query-aware vector quantization that optimizes the objective of attention score approximation directly. Finally, we design the heterogeneous inference architecture for KV cache offloading, enabling long context serving with larger batch sizes. Experimental results demonstrate that A$^2$ATS can achieve a lower performance degradation with similar or lower overhead compared to existing methods, thereby increasing long context serving throughput by up to $2.7 \times$.

Nanoscale Ultrafast Lattice Modulation with Hard X-ray Free Electron Laser

Understanding and controlling microscopic dynamics across spatial and temporal scales has driven major progress in science and technology over the past several decades. While ultrafast laser-based techniques have enabled probing nanoscale dynamics at their intrinsic temporal scales down to femto- and attoseconds, the long wavelengths of optical lasers have prevented the interrogation and manipulation of such dynamics with nanoscale spatial specificity. With advances in hard X-ray free electron lasers (FELs), significant progress has been made developing X-ray transient grating (XTG) spectroscopy, aiming at the coherent control of elementary excitations with nanoscale X-ray standing waves. So far, XTGs have been probed only at optical wavelengths, thus intrinsically limiting the achievable periodicities to several hundreds of nm. By achieving sub-femtosecond synchronization of two hard X-ray pulses at a controlled crossing angle, we demonstrate the generation of an XTG with spatial periods of 10 nm. The XTG excitation drives a thermal grating that drives coherent monochromatic longitudinal acoustic phonons in the cubic perovskite, SrTiO3 (STO). With a third X-ray pulse with the same photon energy, time-and-momentum resolved measurement of the XTG-induced scattering intensity modulation provides evidence of ballistic thermal transport at nanometer scale in STO. These results highlight the great potential of XTG for studying high-wave-vector excitations and nanoscale transport in condensed matter, and establish XTG as a powerful platform for the coherent control and study of nanoscale dynamics.

Improving Significant Wave Height Prediction Using Chronos Models

Accurate wave height prediction is critical for maritime safety and coastal resilience, yet conventional physics-based models and traditional machine learning methods face challenges in computational efficiency and nonlinear dynamics modeling. This study introduces Chronos, the first implementation of a large language model (LLM)-powered temporal architecture (Chronos) optimized for wave forecasting. Through advanced temporal pattern recognition applied to historical wave data from three strategically chosen marine zones in the Northwest Pacific basin, our framework achieves multimodal improvements: (1) 14.3% reduction in training time with 2.5x faster inference speed compared to PatchTST baselines, achieving 0.575 mean absolute scaled error (MASE) units; (2) superior short-term forecasting (1-24h) across comprehensive metrics; (3) sustained predictive leadership in extended-range forecasts (1-120h); and (4) demonstrated zero-shot capability maintaining median performance (rank 4/12) against specialized operational models. This LLM-enhanced temporal modeling paradigm establishes a new standard in wave prediction, offering both computationally efficient solutions and a transferable framework for complex geophysical systems modeling.

jina-clip-v2: Multilingual Multimodal Embeddings for Text and Images

Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining (CLIP) has been widely used for crossmodal information retrieval and multimodal understanding tasks. However, CLIP models are mainly optimized for crossmodal vision-language tasks and underperform in single-mode text tasks. Moreover, these models are often trained on English datasets and therefore lack multilingual understanding. Additionally, from a visual understanding perspective, previous CLIP-based models exhibit insufficient understanding of visually rich documents. In this work, we propose jina-clip-v2, a contrastive vision-language model trained on text pairs, triplets and image-text pairs via a multi-task and multi-stage contrastive learning paradigm in order to support both text-only and crossmodal tasks. We employ a multilingual text encoder and expand the training dataset to include multilingual texts from 29 non-English languages, including Hindi, Chinese, German, French, and others, as well as images of visually rich documents. We evaluate the model's performance and show that jina-clip-v2 achieves notable improvements over state-of-the-art CLIP-based models in zero-shot text-only retrieval, semantic textual similarity, and crossmodal retrieval tasks in both English and multilingual settings. jina-clip-v2 also provides for flexibility in embedding dimensionality, enabling users to select the granularity of the representations. jina-clip-v2 is publicly available at https://huggingface.co/jinaai/jina-clip-v2.

HyRRT-Connect: Bidirectional Motion Planning for Hybrid Dynamical Systems

This paper proposes a bidirectional rapidly-exploring random trees (RRT) algorithm to solve the motion planning problem for hybrid systems. The proposed algorithm, called HyRRT-Connect, propagates in both forward and backward directions in hybrid time until an overlap between the forward and backward propagation results is detected. Then, HyRRT-Connect constructs a motion plan through the reversal and concatenation of functions defined on hybrid time domains, ensuring that the motion plan satisfies the given hybrid dynamics. To address the potential discontinuity along the flow caused by tolerating some distance between the forward and backward partial motion plans, we reconstruct the backward partial motion plan by a forward-in-hybrid-time simulation from the final state of the forward partial motion plan. effectively eliminating the discontinuity. The proposed algorithm is applied to an actuated bouncing ball system and a walking robot example to highlight its computational improvement.

StarGen: A Spatiotemporal Autoregression Framework with Video Diffusion Model for Scalable and Controllable Scene Generation

Recent advances in large reconstruction and generative models have significantly improved scene reconstruction and novel view generation. However, due to compute limitations, each inference with these large models is confined to a small area, making long-range consistent scene generation challenging. To address this, we propose StarGen, a novel framework that employs a pre-trained video diffusion model in an autoregressive manner for long-range scene generation. The generation of each video clip is conditioned on the 3D warping of spatially adjacent images and the temporally overlapping image from previously generated clips, improving spatiotemporal consistency in long-range scene generation with precise pose control. The spatiotemporal condition is compatible with various input conditions, facilitating diverse tasks, including sparse view interpolation, perpetual view generation, and layout-conditioned city generation. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations demonstrate StarGen's superior scalability, fidelity, and pose accuracy compared to state-of-the-art methods. Project page: https://zju3dv.github.io/StarGen.

PUGS: Zero-shot Physical Understanding with Gaussian Splatting

Current robotic systems can understand the categories and poses of objects well. But understanding physical properties like mass, friction, and hardness, in the wild, remains challenging. We propose a new method that reconstructs 3D objects using the Gaussian splatting representation and predicts various physical properties in a zero-shot manner. We propose two techniques during the reconstruction phase: a geometry-aware regularization loss function to improve the shape quality and a region-aware feature contrastive loss function to promote region affinity. Two other new techniques are designed during inference: a feature-based property propagation module and a volume integration module tailored for the Gaussian representation. Our framework is named as zero-shot physical understanding with Gaussian splatting, or PUGS. PUGS achieves new state-of-the-art results on the standard benchmark of ABO-500 mass prediction. We provide extensive quantitative ablations and qualitative visualization to demonstrate the mechanism of our designs. We show the proposed methodology can help address challenging real-world grasping tasks. Our codes, data, and models are available at https://github.com/EverNorif/PUGS

Depth Completion with Multiple Balanced Bases and Confidence for Dense Monocular SLAM

Dense SLAM based on monocular cameras does indeed have immense application value in the field of AR/VR, especially when it is performed on a mobile device. In this paper, we propose a novel method that integrates a light-weight depth completion network into a sparse SLAM system using a multi-basis depth representation, so that dense mapping can be performed online even on a mobile phone. Specifically, we present a specifically optimized multi-basis depth completion network, called BBC-Net, tailored to the characteristics of traditional sparse SLAM systems. BBC-Net can predict multiple balanced bases and a confidence map from a monocular image with sparse points generated by off-the-shelf keypoint-based SLAM systems. The final depth is a linear combination of predicted depth bases that can be optimized by tuning the corresponding weights. To seamlessly incorporate the weights into traditional SLAM optimization and ensure efficiency and robustness, we design a set of depth weight factors, which makes our network a versatile plug-in module, facilitating easy integration into various existing sparse SLAM systems and significantly enhancing global depth consistency through bundle adjustment. To verify the portability of our method, we integrate BBC-Net into two representative SLAM systems. The experimental results on various datasets show that the proposed method achieves better performance in monocular dense mapping than the state-of-the-art methods. We provide an online demo running on a mobile phone, which verifies the efficiency and mapping quality of the proposed method in real-world scenarios.

A sharp-interface approach for simulating solid-state dewetting of thin films with double-bubble structure

We develop a sharp-interface model for solid-state dewetting of double-bubble thin films using an energy variational approach based on a newly proposed interfacial energy. This model characterizes the dynamic evolution of interfaces in double-bubble thin films, a process primarily governed by surface diffusion and junction/contact points migration, and fundamentally distinct from the behavior observed in a single thin film. Subsequently, a structure-preserving parametric finite element approximation is developed for the sharp-interface model, which can preserve both area conservation and energy stability. Extensive numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the convergence, structure-preserving properties, and superior mesh quality of the proposed method. Additionally, we investigate several specific evolution processes, including the equilibrium shapes of double-bubble thin films and the pinch-off dynamics of long islands.

ReaderLM-v2: Small Language Model for HTML to Markdown and JSON

We present ReaderLM-v2, a compact 1.5 billion parameter language model designed for efficient web content extraction. Our model processes documents up to 512K tokens, transforming messy HTML into clean Markdown or JSON formats with high accuracy -- making it an ideal tool for grounding large language models. The model's effectiveness results from two key innovations: (1) a three-stage data synthesis pipeline that generates high quality, diverse training data by iteratively drafting, refining, and critiquing web content extraction; and (2) a unified training framework combining continuous pre-training with multi-objective optimization. Intensive evaluation demonstrates that ReaderLM-v2 outperforms GPT-4o-2024-08-06 and other larger models by 15-20\% on carefully curated benchmarks, particularly excelling at documents exceeding 100K tokens, while maintaining significantly lower computational requirements.

EPhishCADE: A Privacy-Aware Multi-Dimensional Framework for Email Phishing Campaign Detection

Phishing attacks, typically carried out by email, remain a significant cybersecurity threat with attackers creating legitimate-looking websites to deceive recipients into revealing sensitive information or executing harmful actions. In this paper, we propose {\bf EPhishCADE}, the first {\em privacy-aware}, {\em multi-dimensional} framework for {\bf E}mail {\bf Phish}ing {\bf CA}mpaign {\bf DE}tection to automatically identify email phishing campaigns by clustering seemingly unrelated attacks. Our framework employs a hierarchical architecture combining a structural layer and a contextual layer, offering a comprehensive analysis of phishing attacks by thoroughly examining both structural and contextual elements. Specifically, we implement a graph-based contextual layer to reveal hidden similarities across multiple dimensions, including textual, numeric, temporal, and spatial features, among attacks that may initially appear unrelated. Our framework streamlines the handling of security threat reports, reducing analysts' fatigue and workload while enhancing protection against these threats. Another key feature of our framework lies in its sole reliance on phishing URLs in emails without the need for private information, including senders, recipients, content, etc. This feature enables a collaborative identification of phishing campaigns and attacks among multiple organizations without compromising privacy. Finally, we benchmark our framework against an established structure-based study (WWW \textquotesingle 17) to demonstrate its effectiveness.

LLM-based MOFs Synthesis Condition Extraction using Few-Shot Demonstrations

The extraction of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) synthesis route from literature has been crucial for the logical MOFs design with desirable functionality. The recent advent of large language models (LLMs) provides disruptively new solution to this long-standing problem. While the latest researches mostly stick to primitive zero-shot LLMs lacking specialized material knowledge, we introduce in this work the few-shot LLM in-context learning paradigm. First, a human-AI interactive data curation approach is proposed to secure high-quality demonstrations. Second, an information retrieval algorithm is applied to pick and quantify few-shot demonstrations for each extraction. Over three datasets randomly sampled from nearly 90,000 well-defined MOFs, we conduct triple evaluations to validate our method. The synthesis extraction, structure inference, and material design performance of the proposed few-shot LLMs all significantly outplay zero-shot LLM and baseline methods. The lab-synthesized material guided by LLM surpasses 91.1% high-quality MOFs of the same class reported in the literature, on the key physical property of specific surface area.

A Safe Hybrid Control Framework for Car-like Robot with Guaranteed Global Path-Invariance using a Control Barrier Function

This work proposes a hybrid framework for car-like robots with obstacle avoidance, global convergence, and safety, where safety is interpreted as path invariance, namely, once the robot converges to the path, it never leaves the path. Given a priori obstacle-free feasible path where obstacles can be around the path, the task is to avoid obstacles while reaching the path and then staying on the path without leaving it. The problem is solved in two stages. Firstly, we define a ``tight'' obstacle-free neighborhood along the path and design a local controller to ensure convergence to the path and path invariance. The control barrier function technology is involved in the control design to steer the system away from its singularity points, where the local path invariant controller is not defined. Secondly, we design a hybrid control framework that integrates this local path-invariant controller with any global tracking controller from the existing literature without path invariance guarantee, ensuring convergence from any position to the desired path, namely, global convergence. This framework guarantees path invariance and robustness to sensor noise. Detailed simulation results affirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Large Language Model Adversarial Landscape Through the Lens of Attack Objectives

Large Language Models (LLMs) represent a transformative leap in artificial intelligence, enabling the comprehension, generation, and nuanced interaction with human language on an unparalleled scale. However, LLMs are increasingly vulnerable to a range of adversarial attacks that threaten their privacy, reliability, security, and trustworthiness. These attacks can distort outputs, inject biases, leak sensitive information, or disrupt the normal functioning of LLMs, posing significant challenges across various applications. In this paper, we provide a novel comprehensive analysis of the adversarial landscape of LLMs, framed through the lens of attack objectives. By concentrating on the core goals of adversarial actors, we offer a fresh perspective that examines threats from the angles of privacy, integrity, availability, and misuse, moving beyond conventional taxonomies that focus solely on attack techniques. This objective-driven adversarial landscape not only highlights the strategic intent behind different adversarial approaches but also sheds light on the evolving nature of these threats and the effectiveness of current defenses. Our analysis aims to guide researchers and practitioners in better understanding, anticipating, and mitigating these attacks, ultimately contributing to the development of more resilient and robust LLM systems.
