Deep RL- Tuned Mo del-Free Adaptive Control for Lower-Limb Exoskeletons During Sit-to-Stand Transitions

Sit-to-stand (STS) transitions impose significant joint-loading demands on elderly individuals, making them a primary target for lower-limb exoskeleton assistance. However, accurate trajectory tracking during STS is challenging due to complex, time-varying human exoskeleton interaction dynamics and inter-subject variability that render model-based control approaches difficult to apply in practice. This paper presents an intelligent model free adaptive backstepping control strategy for a bilateral lower-limb exoskeleton during STS motion. The proposed controller design uses an ultra-local second-order model to avoid explicit system identification, while a Gaussian radial basis function (RBF) neural network estimates the unknown lumped dynamics online. To further improve phase-aware tracking performance, a Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) reinforcement learning agent is integrated as a supervisory gain scheduler that adaptively adjusts controller gains across the distinct phases of STS motion. The proposed controller is evaluated through co-simulation in MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape Multibody using OpenSim-derived reference trajectories and benchmarked against state-of-the-art controllers. Results demonstrate that the proposed controller achieves the lowest average RMSE of 0.078 degree across all joints, representing improvements of 60.2%, 54.4%, 48.7%, and 42.6% over proportional integral derivative (PID), model-free adaptive control (MFAC), linear quadratic regulator (LQR), and sliding-mode control (SMC), respectively. TD3 integration further reduces tracking error by 35%, 33%, and 79% at the hip, knee, and ankle joints compared to the standalone RBF-MFAC baseline. These results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller design for assistive exoskeleton control during STS transitions.

Low magnetic moment and unconventional magneto-transport in half-Heusler alloy CoVGe

In the present work, we experimentally realize CoVGe for the first time and investigate its structural, magnetic, and transport properties, supported by theoretical calculations. The material crystallizes in a cubic structure and exhibits a very low magnetic moment of 0.13 {\mu}B per formula unit at 5 K. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity suggests half-metallic behaviour. Magnetoresistance shows a positive, non-saturating linear field dependence at low temperature that gradually weakens with increasing temperature. The combination of low magnetic moment and unusual magnetotransport behaviour positions CoVGe as a promising platform for exploring spin-dependent transport in Heusler-based materials.

A new kind of $A_{\p}$-matrix for mixed graphs

Nikiforov\cite{nikiforov2017merging} introduced the concept of the $A_{\p}$-matrix as a convex linear combination of a graph's adjacency matrix and its diagonal matrix of vertex degrees. In this paper, we introduce a new variant of the $A_{\p}$-matrix, which is a linear combination of the Hermitian adjacency matrix of the second kind, $H^{\om}$, and the degree-diagonal matrix. This study provides new insights into the $A_{\p}$-matrix as a Hermitian matrix, leading to novel bounds in spectral graph theory.

New improved lower bounds for Zagreb indices of graphs

This paper presents new lower bounds for the first general Zagreb index $Z_{\alpha}(G)$ involving two, three, and four arbitrary degrees of vertices of a simple graph $G$. For the special cases $\alpha = 2$ and $\alpha = -2$, the results give sharper bounds for the first Zagreb index $M_1(G)$ and the modified first Zagreb index ${}^{m}M_1(G)$, thereby improving several well-known inequalities in the literature. Furthermore, some applications of the derived bounds for $M_1(G)$ are demonstrated, establishing new bounds for the second Zagreb index, the spectral radius, Nordhaus-Gaddum type bounds, and their corresponding coindices.

CoRuTiGe: A Possible Spin Gapless Semiconductor

We report experimental and theoretical investigations on the quaternary Heusler alloy CoRuTiGe, synthesized using the arc melting technique. Crystal structure analysis reveals a tetragonal structure at room temperature. Magnetization measurements as a function of temperature and magnetic field indicate ferromagnetic nature with a saturation magnetization of 0.681 mB/f.u. at 5 K. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity shows a nearly linear decrease in the high-temperature range, indicating the spin gapless semiconductor like behavior of the material. This SGS nature is further supported by the temperature-independent carrier concentration and mobility. Hall effect analysis reveals that the anomalous Hall effect in CoRuTiGe arises from both intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms. Additionally, a well-defined symmetric negative magnetoresistance is observed at low temperatures. These findings suggest that CoRuTiGe holds significant promise for spintronic applications.

Some central moments inequalities with applications

In this paper, we first derive an inequality involving central moments for n real numbers, which in turn provides an extension of Theorem 2.2 of Wolkowicz and Styan [18]. Furthermore, we present refinements of various inequalities obtained by Sharma et al. [12-15] involving central moments for the case of n distinct integers. Moreover, we provide applications of our results in matrix theory and the theory of polynomial equations.

Low-Moment Semiconducting Properties of Quaternary Heusler Alloy CoRuTiSn

We investigate structural, magnetic and transport properties of CoRuTiSn equiatomic quaternary Heusler alloy. CoRuTiSn was synthesized by arc-melt technique. The room temperature powder XRD pattern was analyzed, and it was found that CoRuTiSn has a tetragonal crystal structure. Magnetic measurements show non-zero but small hysteresis indicating CoRuTiSn as a soft ferromagnetic with a Curie temperature of ~200 K. The magnetic moment determined from magnetization data is found to be 0.84 {\mu}B/f.u. at 4 K, which is close to the value, calculated using first principles calculations. Electrical resistivity decreases with temperatures, indicating semiconducting nature of CoRuTiSn. Hall effect measurements show anomalous behavior, consistent with the ferromagnetic nature of the sample. The low moment ferromagnetic semiconducting nature of CoRuTiSn could make this material promising for semiconducting spintronics.

On operators preserving inequalities between polynomials

In this review paper, we explore operator aspects in extremal properties of Bernstein-type polynomial inequalities. We shall also see that a linear operator which send polynomials to polynomials and have zero-preserving property naturally preserve Bernstein's inequality.

Interplay of structure, magnetism, and magneto-thermal effects in Gadolinium-based intermetallic compound

We study structural, magnetic and magneto-thermal properties of GdRhIn compound. The room temperature X-ray diffraction measurements show hexagonal crystal structure. Temperature and field dependence of magnetization suggest two magnetic transitions antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic at 16 K and ferromagnetic to paramagnetic at 34. The heat capacity measurements confirm both the magnetic transitions in GdRhIn. The magnetization data was used to calculate isothermal magnetic entropy change and refrigerant capacity in GdRhIn, which was found to be 10.3 J/Kg-K for the field change of 70 kOe and 282 J/Kg for the field change of 50 kOe, respectively. The large magnetocaloric effect in GdRhIn suggests that the material could be used for magnetic refrigeration at low temperatures.

Experimental realization of a high Curie temperature CoFeRuSn quaternary Heusler alloy for spintronic applications

We synthesize CoFeRuSn equiatomic quaternary Heusler alloy using arc-melt technique and investigate its structural, magnetic and transport properties. The room temperature powder X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that CoFeRuSn crystallizes in cubic crystal structure with small amount of DO3 - disorder. The field dependence of magnetization shows non-zero but small hysteresis and saturation behavior up to room temperature, indicating soft ferromagnetic nature of CoFeRuSn. The magnetic moment estimated from the magnetization data is found to be 4.15 {\mu}B / f.u., which is slightly less than the expected Slater-Pauling rule. The deviation in the value of experimentally observed moment from the theoretical value might be due to small disorder in the crystal. The low temperature fit to electrical resistivity data show absence of quadratic temperature dependence of resistivity, suggesting half-metallic behavior of CoFeRuSn. The high Curie temperature and possible half-metallic behavior of CoFeRuSn make it a highly promising candidate for room temperature spintronic applications.

Damping in yttrium iron garnet film with an interface

We report strong damping enhancement in a 200 nm thick yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film due to spin inhomogeneity at the interface. The growth-induced thin interfacial gadolinium iron garnet (GdIG) layer antiferromagnetically (AFM) exchange couples with the rest of the YIG layer. The out-of-plane angular variation of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) linewidth $\Delta H$ reflects a large inhomogeneous distribution of effective magnetization $\Delta 4 \pi M_{eff}$ due to the presence of an exchange springlike moments arrangement in YIG. We probe the spin inhomogeneity at the YIG-GdIG interface by performing an in-plane angular variation of resonance field $H_{r}$, leading to a unidirectional feature. The large extrinsic $\Delta 4\pi M_{eff}$ contribution, apart from the inherent intrinsic Gilbert contribution, manifests enhanced precessional damping in YIG film.

Massively parallel simulations for disordered systems

Simulations of systems with quenched disorder are extremely demanding, suffering from the combined effect of slow relaxation and the need of performing the disorder average. As a consequence, new algorithms, improved implementations, and alternative and even purpose-built hardware are often instrumental for conducting meaningful studies of such systems. The ensuing demands regarding hardware availability and code complexity are substantial and sometimes prohibitive. We demonstrate how with a moderate coding effort leaving the overall structure of the simulation code unaltered as compared to a CPU implementation, very significant speed-ups can be achieved from a parallel code on GPU by mainly exploiting the trivial parallelism of the disorder samples and the near-trivial parallelism of the parallel tempering replicas. A combination of this massively parallel implementation with a careful choice of the temperature protocol for parallel tempering as well as efficient cluster updates allows us to equilibrate comparatively large systems with moderate computational resources.

Evaluation of electrical efficiency of photovoltaic thermal solar collector

Solar energy is a renewable resource of energy that is broadly utilized and has the least emissions among renewable energies. In this study, machine learning methods of artificial neural networks (ANNs), least squares support vector machines (LSSVM), and neuro-fuzzy are used for advancing prediction models for the thermal performance of a photovoltaic-thermal solar collector (PV/T). In the proposed models, the inlet temperature, flow rate, heat, solar radiation, and the sun heat have been considered as the inputs variables. Data set has been extracted through experimental measurements from a novel solar collector system. Different analyses are performed to examine the credibility of the introduced approaches and evaluate their performance. The proposed LSSVM model outperformed ANFIS and ANNs models. LSSVM model is reported suitable when the laboratory measurements are costly and time-consuming, or achieving such values requires sophisticated interpretations.

Ferromagnetic Resonance Studies of Strain tuned Bi:YIG Films

Bismuth-doped Yttrium iron garnet (Bi:YIG) thin films known for large Magneto-optical activity with low losses still needs to get probed for its magnetization dynamics. We demonstrate a controlled tuning of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in Bi-doped Y_3 Fe_5 O_12 (Bi:YIG) films of high crystalline quality using growth induced epitaxial strain on [111]-oriented Gd_3 Ga_5 O_12 (GGG) substrate. We optimize a growth protocol to get thick highly-strained epitaxial films showing large magneto-crystalline anisotropy, compare to thin films prepared using a different protocol. Ferromagnetic resonance measurements establish a linear dependence of the out-of-plane uniaxial anisotropy on the strain induced rhombohedral distortion of Bi:YIG lattice. Interestingly, the enhancement in the magnetoelastic constant due to an optimum substitution of Bi^(3+) ions with strong spin orbit coupling does not strongly affect the precessional damping (~2x10^(-3) ). Large magneto-optical activity, reasonably low damping, large magnetocrystalline anisotropy and large magnetoelastic coupling in BiYIG are the properties that may help BiYIG emerge as a possible material for photo-magnonics and other spintronics applications.

Scrutiny of stagnation region flow in a nanofluid suspended permeable medium due to inconsistent heat source/sink

In present analysis, nanofluid transport near to a stagnation region over a bidirectionally deforming surface is scrutinized. The region is embedded with Darcy-Forchheimer medium which supports permeability. The porous matrix is suspended with nanofluid, and surface is under the influence of inconsistent heat source/sink. Using similarity functions, framed governing equations are switched to a collection of ordinary differential equations. Output is procured via optimal homotopy asymptotic method (OHAM). Basic notion of OHAM for a vector differential set-up is presented along with required convergence theorems. At different flow stagnation strengths, nanofluid behavior is investigated with respect to variations in porosity parameter, Forchheimer number, Brownian motion, stretching ratio, thermophoretic force, heat source/sink and Schimdt number. Stagnation flow strength invert the pattern of boundary layer profiles of primary velocity. Heat transfer has straightforward relation with Forchheimer number when stagnation forces dominate stretching forces

Effects of post-deposition annealing on the structure and magnetization of PLD grown Yttrium Iron Garnet films

We report on the recrystallization of 200 nm thick as-grown Yttrium Iron Garnet (Y_3.4 Fe_4.6 O_12) films on (111) face of Gadolinium Gallium Garnet (GGG) single crystals by post-deposition annealing. Epitaxial conversion of the as-grown microcrystalline YIG films was seen after annealing at 800oC for more than 30 minutes both in ambient oxygen as well as in air. The as-grown oxygen annealed samples at 800oC for 60 minutes crystallize epitaxially and show excellent figure-of-merit for saturation magnetization (MS = 3.3 {\mu}B/f.u., comparable to bulk value) and coercivity (HC ~ 1.1 Oe). The ambient air annealing at 800oC with a very slow rate of cooling (2oC/min) results in a double layer structure with a thicker unstrained epitaxial top layer having the MS and HC of 2.9 {\mu}B/f.u. and 0.12 Oe respectively. The symmetric and asymmetric Reciprocal space maps of both the samples reveal a locking of the in-plane lattice of the film to the in-plane lattice of substrate, indicating a pseudomorphic growth. The residual stress calculated by sin^2 {\psi} technique is compressive in nature. The lower layer in air annealed sample is highly strained, whereas, the top layer has negligible compressive stress.

NHAD: Neuro-Fuzzy Based Horizontal Anomaly Detection In Online Social Networks

Use of social network is the basic functionality of today's life. With the advent of more and more online social media, the information available and its utilization have come under the threat of several anomalies. Anomalies are the major cause of online frauds which allow information access by unauthorized users as well as information forging. One of the anomalies that act as a silent attacker is the horizontal anomaly. These are the anomalies caused by a user because of his/her variable behaviour towards different sources. Horizontal anomalies are difficult to detect and hazardous for any network. In this paper, a self-healing neuro-fuzzy approach (NHAD) is used for the detection, recovery, and removal of horizontal anomalies efficiently and accurately. The proposed approach operates over the five paradigms, namely, missing links, reputation gain, significant difference, trust properties, and trust score. The proposed approach is evaluated with three datasets: DARPA'98 benchmark dataset, synthetic dataset, and real-time traffic. Results show that the accuracy of the proposed NHAD model for 10% to 30% anomalies in synthetic dataset ranges between 98.08% and 99.88%. The evaluation over DARPA'98 dataset demonstrates that the proposed approach is better than the existing solutions as it provides 99.97% detection rate for anomalous class. For real-time traffic, the proposed NHAD model operates with an average accuracy of 99.42% at 99.90% detection rate.
