StepAudio 3 Realtime Technical Report

Realtime spoken interaction demands deep reasoning, prompt responses, and fluid turn-taking. We present StepAudio 3 Realtime, an audio-language foundation model organized around a continuous listen-converse-think-act loop. Deep Perception captures rich acoustic cues to interpret user intent, while Seamless Duplex models synchronized audio streams to handle pauses, backchannels, and interruptions naturally. Crucially, we resolve the tension between deep deliberation and latency via Think-While-Speaking, executing private reasoning in parallel with spoken delivery. In reasoning mode, StepAudio 3 reaches a 73.0 macro average on StepAudioChat. With Think-While-Speaking, it achieves dialogue and reasoning performance comparable to dedicated reasoning models while speaking in real time. Furthermore, an integrated Voice Agent handles asynchronous tool execution without disrupting the dialogue flow. StepAudio 3 Realtime achieves top-tier performance across key dimensions: an exceptional 90.6 on the MMSU benchmark, 98.9 Overall on the Artificial Analysis Full-Duplex Bench, and a 56.0% macro task-success rate on $τ$-Voice.

StepAudio 3 Gen Technical Report

We introduce StepAudio 3 Gen, a general-purpose audio generation model that supports zero-shot text-to-speech (TTS), voice design, vocal generation, sound effects, music, vibe speech, and mixtures of multiple audio types within a unified framework. At its core, StepAudio 3 Gen is a discrete autoregressive generator that models audio directly over residual vector quantization (RVQ) tokens, departing from the diffusion Transformer-based continuous generation paradigm prevalent in recent general audio models. Its StepAudio Tokenizer represents general audio at 12.5 Hz in a shared $16 \times 2048$ residual code space, jointly quantizing semantic and waveform-level acoustic features so that each code layer preserves both types of information. For generation, the backbone predicts the first codebook along the time axis using autoregressive modeling, while a lightweight causal Transformer completes the remaining fifteen codebooks along the codebook axis. Our study further identifies three key design principles: (1) interference-aware progressive pretraining for acquiring audio capabilities while preserving the textual abilities of the large language model, (2) RVQ Adaptor for effectively incorporating multi-codebook acoustic representations, and (3) discrete autoregressive modeling over a shared representation across general audio domains. With progressive pretraining, multi-task instruction training, and supervised fine-tuning, StepAudio 3 Gen achieves state-of-the-art performance on both TTS and voice design, while retaining strong generation capabilities across speech, vocals, sound effects, and music. Robust Speech Emotion Recognition under Tone-Word Conflict: A Benchmark and Framework

Speech emotion recognition (SER) is a crucial component of human-computer interaction, attracting extensive attention from both industry and academia. However, existing SER systems typically assume alignment between vocal tone and lexical semantics, overlooking the real-world scenarios that involve tone-word conflict-where the emotion conveyed by speech contradicts the literal meaning of the words. To bridge this gap, we introduce TWIN-SER (Tone-Word Incongruent SER), a benchmark for systematic evaluation under acoustic-semantic incongruence, and show that state-of-the-art models degrade severely under such incongruence. To address this, we propose DAS (Disentangled Acoustic-Semantic fusion), a framework that mitigates tone-word conflict by explicitly disentangling acoustic and semantic pathways, selecting informative high-energy embeddings, and adaptively fusing them via a lightweight query-based attention mechanism. Specifically, DAS comprises three crucial modules: i) a heterogeneous feature extraction module that separately captures complementary acoustic and semantic representations from raw input; ii) a high-energy embedding selection module that identifies and retains the most discriminative embeddings; and iii) a Q-Former combination module that bridges the two pathways through cross-attention, enabling robust emotion prediction under incongruent conditions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DAS consistently outperforms existing methods in tone-word conflict scenarios, as well as in standard in-domain and zero-shot settings. Ming-Flash-Omni: A Sparse, Unified Architecture for Multimodal Perception and Generation

We propose Ming-Flash-Omni, an upgraded version of Ming-Omni, built upon a sparser Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) variant of Ling-Flash-2.0 with 100 billion total parameters, of which only 6.1 billion are active per token. This architecture enables highly efficient scaling (dramatically improving computational efficiency while significantly expanding model capacity) and empowers stronger unified multimodal intelligence across vision, speech, and language, representing a key step toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Compared to its predecessor, the upgraded version exhibits substantial improvements across multimodal understanding and generation. Notably, it achieves strong performance on vision-language understanding benchmarks, with overall scores on par with Gemini 2.5 Pro, and enables seamless switching among multimodal tasks in multi-turn interactions. In speech, it achieves strong performance in contextual and dialect-aware ASR while enabling joint, continuous-generation of speech, sound, and music. In vision, it introduces generative semantic segmentation that achieves competitive standalone performance and enhances spatial control and editing consistency, alongside marked improvements in identity preservation, and high-fidelity in-image text rendering. Together, these capabilities demonstrate that a single unified model can serve as a practical foundation for general-purpose multimodal intelligence.

VividVoice: A Unified Framework for Scene-Aware Visually-Driven Speech Synthesis

We introduce and define a novel task-Scene-Aware Visually-Driven Speech Synthesis, aimed at addressing the limitations of existing speech generation models in creating immersive auditory experiences that align with the real physical world. To tackle the two core challenges of data scarcity and modality decoupling, we propose VividVoice, a unified generative framework. First, we constructed a large-scale, high-quality hybrid multimodal dataset, Vivid-210K, which, through an innovative programmatic pipeline, establishes a strong correlation between visual scenes, speaker identity, and audio for the first time. Second, we designed a core alignment module, D-MSVA, which leverages a decoupled memory bank architecture and a cross-modal hybrid supervision strategy to achieve fine-grained alignment from visual scenes to timbre and environmental acoustic features. Both subjective and objective experimental results provide strong evidence that VividVoice significantly outperforms existing baseline models in terms of audio fidelity, content clarity, and multimodal consistency. Our demo is available at https://chengyuann.github.io/VividVoice/.

When Tone and Words Disagree: Towards Robust Speech Emotion Recognition under Acoustic-Semantic Conflict

Speech Emotion Recognition (SER) systems often assume congruence between vocal emotion and lexical semantics. However, in real-world interactions, acoustic-semantic conflict is common yet overlooked, where the emotion conveyed by tone contradicts the literal meaning of spoken words. We show that state-of-the-art SER models, including ASR-based, self-supervised learning (SSL) approaches and Audio Language Models (ALMs), suffer performance degradation under such conflicts due to semantic bias or entangled acoustic-semantic representations. To address this, we propose the Fusion Acoustic-Semantic (FAS) framework, which explicitly disentangles acoustic and semantic pathways and bridges them through a lightweight, query-based attention module. To enable systematic evaluation, we introduce the Conflict in Acoustic-Semantic Emotion (CASE), the first dataset dominated by clear and interpretable acoustic-semantic conflicts in varied scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FAS consistently outperforms existing methods in both in-domain and zero-shot settings. Notably, on the CASE benchmark, conventional SER models fail dramatically, while FAS sets a new SOTA with 59.38% accuracy. Our code and datasets is available at https://github.com/24DavidHuang/FAS.

Ming-UniAudio: Speech LLM for Joint Understanding, Generation and Editing with Unified Representation

Existing speech models suffer from competing requirements on token representations by understanding and generation tasks. This discrepancy in representation prevents speech language models from performing instruction-based free-form editing. To solve this challenge, we introduce a novel framework that unifies speech understanding, generation, and editing. The core of our unified model is a unified continuous speech tokenizer MingTok-Audio, the first continuous tokenizer to effectively integrate semantic and acoustic features, which makes it suitable for both understanding and generation tasks. Based on this unified continuous audio tokenizer, we developed the speech language model Ming-UniAudio, which achieved a balance between generation and understanding capabilities. Ming-UniAudio sets new state-of-the-art (SOTA) records on 8 out of 12 metrics on the ContextASR benchmark. Notably, for Chinese voice cloning, it achieves a highly competitive Seed-TTS-WER of 0.95. Leveraging this foundational model, we further trained a dedicated speech editing model Ming-UniAudio-Edit, the first speech language model that enables universal, free-form speech editing guided solely by natural language instructions, handling both semantic and acoustic modifications without timestamp condition. To rigorously assess the editing capability and establish a foundation for future research, we introduce Ming-Freeform-Audio-Edit, the first comprehensive benchmark tailored for instruction-based free-form speech editing, featuring diverse scenarios and evaluation dimensions spanning semantic correctness, acoustic quality, and instruction alignment. We open-sourced the continuous audio tokenizer, the unified foundational model, and the free-form instruction-based editing model to facilitate the development of unified audio understanding, generation, and manipulation.

Ming-Omni: A Unified Multimodal Model for Perception and Generation

We propose Ming-Omni, a unified multimodal model capable of processing images, text, audio, and video, while demonstrating strong proficiency in both speech and image generation. Ming-Omni employs dedicated encoders to extract tokens from different modalities, which are then processed by Ling, an MoE architecture equipped with newly proposed modality-specific routers. This design enables a single model to efficiently process and fuse multimodal inputs within a unified framework, thereby facilitating diverse tasks without requiring separate models, task-specific fine-tuning, or structural redesign. Importantly, Ming-Omni extends beyond conventional multimodal models by supporting audio and image generation. This is achieved through the integration of an advanced audio decoder for natural-sounding speech and Ming-Lite-Uni for high-quality image generation, which also allow the model to engage in context-aware chatting, perform text-to-speech conversion, and conduct versatile image editing. Our experimental results showcase Ming-Omni offers a powerful solution for unified perception and generation across all modalities. Notably, our proposed Ming-Omni is the first open-source model we are aware of to match GPT-4o in modality support, and we release all code and model weights to encourage further research and development in the community.

Benchmarking Specialized Databases for High-frequency Data

This paper presents a benchmarking suite designed for the evaluation and comparison of time series databases for high-frequency data, with a focus on financial applications. The proposed suite comprises of four specialized databases: ClickHouse, InfluxDB, kdb+ and TimescaleDB. The results from the suite demonstrate that kdb+ has the highest performance amongst the tested databases, while also highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each of the databases. The benchmarking suite was designed to provide an objective measure of the performance of these databases as well as to compare their capabilities for different types of data. This provides valuable insights into the suitability of different time series databases for different use cases and provides benchmarks that can be used to inform system design decisions.
