A Vector-Vector-Axial Anomaly in 4D

Because it offers exactly-integer topological quantities, the modified Villain discretization offers a route to correct anomaly structure at finite lattice spacing. I will present a 4-dimensional purely-bosonic modified Villain model with an ABJ-type vector-vector-axial anomaly. The model may have a direct continuous phase transition from one SSB phase to another, giving hope of yielding 4D CFT with a VVA anomaly.

Document Topic Alignment Metrics for Evaluating Topic Models of Short-Text Public Health Communications on Social Media

Topic models are widely used to analyze public health-related social media short texts, yet their evaluation remains dominated by metrics that focus entirely on generated topics alone. There is a lack of metrics that quantitatively assess whether assigned topics meaningfully represent the corresponding short-text posts. We propose Document-Topic Alignment metrics (DoTA), an assignment-aware evaluation framework comprising metrics that measure semantic alignment between documents (posts) and their assigned topics. We also introduce margin-based and discriminative variants that capture topic assignment confidence and distinguishability. We evaluate DoTA across five topic models on three public health-related social media datasets from X and compare DoTA metrics with conventional topic-based metrics. Results show that DoTA provides complementary evaluation cues and aligns meaningfully with human evaluations. These findings establish the need for assignment-aware evaluation and demonstrate that the addition of DoTA enables a more comprehensive and practically meaningful evaluation for assessing short-text topic modeling performance.

Symmetries and M-theory-like Vacua in Four Dimensions

Non-geometric flux vacua have recently been revisited, leading to the remarkable discovery of isolated 4D ${\mathcal N}=1$ supersymmetric Minkowski vacua. These constructions rely on the non-renormalization of the superpotential, which is supported by heuristic arguments. Given the significance of verifying the existence of these isolated M-theory-like vacua, we present alternative symmetry-based arguments that arrive at the same conclusion. Additionally, we leverage these symmetries to argue for the existence of unstable dS solutions as well as supersymmetric AdS solutions.

Beyond Higher-Pulse Rectification: Operational Harmonic Coordination in Renewable P2H Systems

Thyristor rectifiers (TRs) are cost-effective electrolysis power supplies for renewable power-to-hydrogen (ReP2H) systems, but their harmonics may violate grid-code limits. In contrast to conventional solutions that rely on higher-pulse (such as 24-pulse) rectifiers, this paper proposes an operational harmonic coordination scheme that enables low-cost 12-pulse TRs to meet harmonic requirements through coordinated operation. First, a harmonic model quantifies the effects of rectifier transformer (RCT) tap positions and electrolytic currents, enabling harmonic cancellation among multiple electrolyzers (ELZs). A two-layer framework then coordinates hydrogen production and harmonic mitigation. Hourly scheduling determines ELZ commitment within the harmonic feasible region under renewable uncertainty using stochastic programming and a modified progressive hedging algorithm, while minute-level dispatch tracks renewable power and mitigates harmonics. A decomposition algorithm separates production dispatch from harmonic mitigation to improve computational efficiency. Case studies based on real-life projects show that the proposed method increases profit by 31% over current-only regulation. Annual simulations further show that coordinated 12-pulse TRs can replace 24-pulse rectifiers for harmonic compliance by exchanging additional RCT tap actions for lower transformer investment, reducing rectification-stage cost by 37.5%.

Generative Semantic Scene Completion

Outdoor LiDAR semantic scene completion (SSC) recovers a dense semantic voxel grid from a scan observing 1% of the target volume, under class imbalance beyond 7,000x. We recast SSC as generative semantic scene completion (GSSC): a single discrete-diffusion formulation in three roles. First, paired sparse-dense scene synthesis (PS$^3$) generates matched sparse LiDAR observations with their dense semantic completions, addressing the long tail at its source and yielding the PS$^3$-SemanticKITTI corpus we train on alongside SemanticKITTI. Second, semantic-guided generative scene completion (SGSC) generates the scene from noise with multinomial discrete diffusion, conditioned on the sparse scan through a bird's-eye-view semantic map and a sparse 3D feature stream. Third, the same framework instead refines an existing completion in one flow-matching step: structured source discrete diffusion (S$^2$D$^2$). S$^2$D$^2$ improves the mIoU of SGSC's own output and every external SSC base tested, without base retraining or test-time adaptation. On the strongest base, one step without test-time augmentation reaches 38.8% mIoU on the SemanticKITTI hidden test. To our knowledge that is the best causal, single-sweep, single-sample result on that leaderboard, +2.1 pp over the previous best published score under the same restriction. Four correction steps with eight-view test-time augmentation reach 39.2%, outside that restriction.

Unit-to-Plant Stability Shaping of Multi-Electrolyzer ReP2H Plants via Interface Design and Dispatch

Alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) units supplied by insulated gate bipolar transistor rectifiers (IGBT-Rs) may experience oscil-lations caused by coupling between rectifier control and electro-lyzer (ELZ) dynamics. Because this risk varies with unit loading and power allocation, production-oriented dispatch may place a multi-ELZ renewable power-to-hydrogen (ReP2H) plant near or exceed its stability boundary. This paper proposes a stability-oriented framework for control design and plant production dis-patch. A three-port admittance model links the ac port, dc link, and electrolysis stack. Unit-level dc-port analysis quantifies the effects of loading, temperature, Buck bandwidth, and dc-link capacitance, while plant-level aggregation evaluates how unit commitment and power allocation affect stability. Results show that higher loading reduces stability, whereas larger dc-link ca-pacitance and higher Buck bandwidth improve it. Under the same plant loading, different power allocations result in different plant-level stability margins, with balanced allocation generally providing a larger margin than concentrated allocation. The plant-level model thus distinguishes the stability margins of ad-missible schedules. Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests validate these trends and the proposed redistribution rule. The resulting operating regions and dispatch rules can be used to screen unit commitment and power allocation decisions in plant production scheduling.

Graphs attaining an upper bound on the mixed metric dimension

Given a graph $G$, we show that the mixed metric dimension of $G$ is exactly $\ell(G)+2c(G)$ if and only if $G$ is either a cactus graph in which every cycle has precisely one vertex of degree at least $3$, or a balanced $Θ$-graph, where $\ell(G)$ and $c(G)$ denote the number of leaves and the cyclomatic number of $G$, respectively. This provides an affirmative answer to a conjecture proposed by Sedlar and Škrekovski (2021).

On the mixed metric dimension of $2$-connected graphs

We show that for a $2$-connected graph $G$ which is not a cycle, the mixed metric dimension of $G$ is at most $2c(G)$, where $c(G)$ is the cyclomatic number of $G$. As an immediate application, we prove a conjecture proposed by Sedlar and Škrekovski (2021).

Plant-Wide Hierarchical Electricity-Heat Coordination for Large-Scale Cold-Region ReP2H Plants via Bidirectional Thermal Coupling

Large-scale renewable power-to-hydrogen (ReP2H) plants in cold regions suffer from prolonged startup and repeated thermal stress during frequent startup-shutdown operation. The situation becomes worse due to the lack of coordinated heat management among the alkaline electrolysis stacks, balance of plant (BoP), plant thermal utility system (PTUS), and plant building. This paper presents a plant-wide thermal topology and a hierarchical electricity-heat management framework to address the issues. Bidirectional thermal coupling between the stack cluster and PTUS enables preheating, thermal standby, and waste heat recovery, while minute-scale production scheduling is coordinated with second-scale thermal regulation. Case studies based on an 80 MW plant in Northern China show that the proposed framework eliminates cold startups in year round, increases hydrogen yield by 1.50, improves energy and exergy efficiencies by 0.99 and 4.33 percentage points, respectively, and reduces the levelized cost of hydrogen by 3.22%. It also reduces thermal fatigue damage and startup-shutdown-induced voltage degradation.

Degradation-Guided Underwater Image Restoration with Task-Oriented Latent Control

Degradation information in underwater images plays a dual role: its spatial and spectral cues can guide adaptive restoration, while degradation-entangled features may be propagated without explicit regulation during decoding. Existing methods largely overlook this dual role, either underexploiting degradation cues or directly forwarding encoder features through skip connections. To address this issue, we propose PROTEUS, which couples degradation-guided feature adaptation with task?oriented latent control. PROTEUS tackles this problem from two complementary perspectives. At the feature level, the Guided Dynamic Feature Modulation Block exploits spatially varying degradation cues to adapt feature processing across network stages. At the representation level, the task-oriented latent controller learns a structured control code under discriminative regularisation and uses it for channel-wise modulation of skip features, without requiring the code to form a metrically cleaner embedding. Extensive experiments on five paired and four non-reference underwater benchmarks demonstrate that PROTEUS achieves highly competitive restoration performance, with a favourable balance between restoration quality and computational cost.

Stockmark-Nemotron-3-Nano-Omni-JapanDocReader: Structured Document Parsing via Capability Injection and Forgetting Control

We present Stockmark-Nemotron-3-Nano-Omni-JapanDocReader, a Japanese document understanding model built from Nemotron-3-Nano-Omni-30B-A3B-Reasoning-BF16. The central goal of this work is structured document parsing via capability injection and forgetting control: we inject Japanese structured document parsing capability into a reasoning-oriented multimodal model while preserving its document VQA capability as much as possible. We study parsing-centric SFT, which uses only structured document parsing data; mixed SFT, which combines structured document parsing and VQA data; and parsing-centric RL, which optimizes structured parsing with a task-level reward. Our experiments show that parsing-centric SFT substantially improves structured document parsing performance but causes measurable VQA forgetting. Mixed SFT mitigates this forgetting while preserving nearly the same structured parsing performance. Applying DAPO-based parsing-centric RL on top of the mixed SFT checkpoint further improves structured document parsing beyond the SFT ceiling, producing the final released model. The training data is constructed with a data engine consisting of two complementary synthetic streams: a Japanese Document VQA Stream and a programmatic structured document parsing stream. We also discuss reward design and variance-based prompt filtering for continuous structured document parsing rewards, highlighting their importance for making RL effective in long-reasoning structured document parsing tasks.

Exploring the Optimal Size of Grid-forming Energy Storage in an Off-grid Renewable P2H System under Multi-timescale Energy Management

Utility-scale off-grid renewable power-to-hydrogen systems (OReP2HS), typically comprising photovoltaic plants, wind turbines, electrolyzers (ELs), and battery energy storage system (BESS), requires at least one component, generally the BESS, working with grid-forming ability to provide frequency and voltage references and regulate them through transient power support. However, existing designs of OReP2HS based on the energy management strategies (EMSs) with 5-min or hourly resolution fail to capture fast transients and may underestimate the BESS size required to ensure adequate grid-forming ability. This paper first proposes a framework of multi-timescale EMS covers from those for power system transient behaviors to second-level EL load adjustments and minute-level intra-day scheduling to coordinate renewable power, BESS, and ELs. Then, an iterative search procedure based on high-fidelity simulation is employed to determine the cost-effective BESS size that satisfies grid-forming, long-term energy balancing over 8760 hours, and emergency support requirements. Case studies based on a planned OReP2HS project in Inner Mongolia, China, show that the proposed EMS yields a base-case LCOH of 33.212 CNY/kg, with CAPEX of BESS accounting for 17.83% of total investment. The optimal BESS capacity represents 13.6% of the rated hourly renewable output and shows a yearly degradation of 4.87%. Sensitivity analysis reveals that reducing the electrolytic load adjustment time step from 90 to 5 seconds and increasing its ramping limit from 1% to 10% rated power per second, the BESS size decreases by 53.57%, and the LCOH decreases to 25.458 CNY/kg. Considering the cost of designing and manufacturing utility-scale ELs with fast load regulation capability, a load adjustment time step of 5 to 10 seconds and a ramping limit of 4-6% rated power per second are recommended.

Dynamic Modeling and Control of Multi-Stack Alkaline Water Electrolysis Systems with Shared Gas Separators and Lye Circulation:Industrial Data-Based Validation and Simulation

An emerging approach for large-scale renewable hydrogen production is integrating multiple alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) stacks into one balance-of-plant (BoP) system, sharing gas-lye separation and lye circulation components. While this configuration, termed $N$-in-1, reduces cost and complexity, its dynamic performance under fluctuating power remains unclear compared with conventional 1-in-1 systems. This paper develops a state-space model of the multi-stack AWE system, capturing lye circulation, temperature, and hydrogen-to-oxygen (HTO) dynamics, calibrated via experiments on a 4,000 Nm$^3$/h-rated 4-in-1 system. A mixed-integer quadratic programming (MIQP)-based predictive controller is then designed to coordinate inter-stack current distribution, lye flow, and cooling for load tracking and operational stability. Simulations on the experimentally validated model show that a $4$-in-1 system achieves similar performance compared to four parallel 1-in-1 systems under continuous operation. Differences in load-tracking, temperature stabilization errors, and specific energy consumption remain below 0.015 MW, 0.346 K, and 0.001 kWh/Nm$^3$ under wind power supply when all stacks remain online.

Harmonic Cancellation in Multi-Electrolyzer P2H Plants via Phasor-Modulated Production Scheduling

Thyristor rectifiers (TRs) are cost-effective power supplies for hydrogen electrolyzers (ELZs) but introduce harmonic distortion that may violate grid codes. This letter proposes a self-governing harmonic mitigation strategy through coordinated operation of multiple ELZs in large power-to-hydrogen (P2H) plants. First, the harmonic model of TR-powered ELZs is derived, revealing a natural harmonic cancellation mechanism among them. Based on this, a system-level operation scheme based on phasor modulation is developed and integrated into plant scheduling. Case studies demonstrate that the proposed method reduces harmonic currents by 21.2%-39.7% and ensures grid-code compliance, with only a 0.25% loss in hydrogen output, while increasing total revenue by over 21% compared to production-oriented strategies.

USP-Mamba: Unmixing-Derived Spectral and Structural Prompting for Hyperspectral Image Super-Resolution

Hyperspectral image super-resolution aims to reconstruct high-resolution imagery while preserving dense spectral information. Recently, Mamba-based models have shown promising potential for this task by capturing long-range dependencies with linear computational complexity. Nevertheless, their causal sequence modeling requires two-dimensional hyperspectral features to be unfolded along predefined scanning orders, which disrupts spatial adjacency and restricts the effective propagation of contextual information. Moreover, state-space parameterization of existing models is predominantly derived from generic learned representations, without explicit alignment with the intrinsic characteristics of the hyperspectral image. To address this issue, we propose an Unmixing-derived Spectral and Structural Prompting Mamba framework, termed USP-Mamba, which adapts Mamba state evolution through composition-aware spectral priors and image-dependent structural prompts. Specifically, an unmixing-informed spectral prompt captures the global material composition of the input image and provides persistent conditioning throughout reconstruction. Injected into the Mamba sequence and progressively adapted across layers, it steers state evolution toward composition-consistent reconstruction. We introduce feature-level structural prompts comprising spatial and frequency components to provide image-dependent local guidance. The spatial prompt promotes structure-sensitive state encoding for local detail preservation, while the frequency prompt enables region-adaptive transitions between homogeneous regions and high-frequency details. Finally, complementary Hilbert and Semantic-Guided Neighboring scans preserve spatial continuity and strengthen non-local semantic dependency modeling. Extensive experiments on different datasets demonstrate that the proposed method consistently outperforms representative approaches.

Critical attention scaling in long-context transformers

As large language models scale to longer contexts, attention layers suffer from a fundamental pathology: attention scores collapse toward uniformity as context length $n$ increases, causing tokens to cluster excessively, a phenomenon known as rank-collapse. While $\textit{attention scaling}$ effectively addresses this deficiency by rescaling attention scores with a polylogarithmic factor $β_n$, theoretical justification for this approach remains lacking. We analyze a simplified yet tractable model that magnifies the effect of attention scaling. In this model, attention exhibits a phase transition governed by the scaling factor $β_n$: insufficient scaling collapses all tokens to a single direction, while excessive scaling reduces attention to identity, thereby eliminating meaningful interactions between tokens. Our main result identifies the critical scaling $β_n \asymp \log n$ and provides a rigorous justification for attention scaling in YaRN and Qwen, clarifying why logarithmic scaling maintains sparse, content-adaptive attention at large context lengths.

Toward Annotation-Efficient Continuous Emotion Arousal Quantification via Group-Level EEG Dynamic Neural Synchrony

Continuous emotional arousal quantification remains bottlenecked by time-consuming and labor-intensive manual annotation. This work investigates group-level EEG dynamic neural synchrony (DNS) as a principled signal for continuous arousal quantification that bypasses per-subject manual labeling. Using Correlated Component Analysis (CorrCA) with sliding-window computation across four EEG datasets spanning 142 subjects and over 207 hours, we systematically evaluate DNS as a group-level marker for emotional arousal dynamics. Three key findings emerge. First, DNS exhibits significant emotion information from valence-dependent differences (all p<0.003), with positive emotions eliciting higher synchrony. Second, DNS correlates more strongly with the first-order derivative of arousal than with raw arousal values, revealing that neural synchrony captures the rate of emotional change rather than static intensity. Third, we provide the first systematic characterization of how DNS-arousal coupling depends on key methodological choices, finding that moderate windows (10-30 s), positive lags (0-10 steps), and First-order Difference feature of EEG from the dominant CorrCA component yield consistently strong coupling. Subject-split replication and block permutation tests confirm these associations are not statistical artifacts. Our findings establish DNS as an empirically validated group-level marker toward annotation-efficient continuous emotional arousal quantification.
