Generalized pseudo-Newtonian potential for studying accretion disk dynamics in off-equatorial planes around rotating black holes: Description of a vector potential

We prescribe a pseudo-Newtonian vector potential for studying accretion disks around Kerr black holes. The potential is useful to study the inner properties of disk not confined to the equatorial plane where general relativistic effect is indispensable. Therefore, we incorporate the essential properties of the metric at the inner radii through the pseudo-Newtonian potential derived from the general Kerr spacetime. The potential, reproducing most of the salient features of the general-relativity, is valid for entire regime of Kerr parameter. It reproduces the last stable circular orbit exactly as that in the Kerr geometry. It also reproduces last bound orbit and energy at last stable circular orbit with a maximum error ~7% and ~15% respectively upto an orbital inclination 30 degree.

Global solution of viscous accretion disk around rotating compact objects: a pseudo-general-relativistic study

We study the solution of viscous accretion disks around rotating compact/central object having hard surface i.e. neutron star, strange star and any other highly gravitating objects. We choose pseudo-Newtonian approach to describe the relativistic accretion disk. For this purpose, the new pseudo-Newtonian potential is used which is applicable to describe the relativistic properties of star and its disk. As we know, the Hartle-Thorne metric can describe geometry of star as well as the space-time out-side of it, we use this metric for our study. This potential reproduces the marginally stable orbit exactly as that of general relativity. It also reproduces the marginally bound orbit and specific mechanical energy at the marginally stable orbit with at most 4% and 10% error respectively. Using this potential we study the global parameter space of the accretion disk. Thus, we find out the physical parameter regime, for which the stable accretion disk can be formed around gravitating object with hard surface. We show that with the change of rotation to the central object, the valid disk parameter region dramatically changes. We also show the effect of viscosity to the fluid properties of the disk. Subsequently, we give a theoretical prediction of kHz QPO, at least for one out of a pair, for a fast rotating compact object as 4U 1636-53.

Pseudo-Newtonion potential for the relativistic accretion disk around rotating central objects having hard surface

Here we furnish a pseudo-Newtonion potential for accretion disk modeling around rotating central objects having hard sueface. That means, the potential may be useful to describe the accretion disk around rotating neutron stars and strange stars. The potential can describe the general relativistic effects in accretion disk properly, essentially studying the relativistic hydrodynamics of disk. As our intention lies in understanding the fluid dynamics of the accretion disk around rotating central objects with hard surface, it is necessary to incorporate the rotation of the central object which affects the inner edge of the disk. We derive our potential, starting from the Hartle Thorne metric. The potential can reproduce all the essential properties of general relativity with 10% error at most, for slowly rotating neutron/strange stars.
