Efficient Graph Neural Network Inference at Large Scale

Graph neural networks (GNNs) have demonstrated excellent performance in a wide range of applications. However, the enormous size of large-scale graphs hinders their applications under real-time inference scenarios. Although existing scalable GNNs leverage linear propagation to preprocess the features and accelerate the training and inference procedure, these methods still suffer from scalability issues when making inferences on unseen nodes, as the feature preprocessing requires the graph is known and fixed. To speed up the inference in the inductive setting, we propose a novel adaptive propagation order approach that generates the personalized propagation order for each node based on its topological information. This could successfully avoid the redundant computation of feature propagation. Moreover, the trade-off between accuracy and inference latency can be flexibly controlled by simple hyper-parameters to match different latency constraints of application scenarios. To compensate for the potential inference accuracy loss, we further propose Inception Distillation to exploit the multi scale reception information and improve the inference performance. Extensive experiments are conducted on four public datasets with different scales and characteristics, and the experimental results show that our proposed inference acceleration framework outperforms the SOTA graph inference acceleration baselines in terms of both accuracy and efficiency. In particular, the advantage of our proposed method is more significant on larger-scale datasets, and our framework achieves $75\times$ inference speedup on the largest Ogbn-products dataset.

Reinforcement Learning based Voice Interaction to Clear Path for Robots in Elevator Environment

Efficient use of the space in an elevator is very necessary for a service robot, due to the need for reducing the amount of time caused by waiting for the next elevator. To provide a solution for this, we propose a hybrid approach that combines reinforcement learning (RL) with voice interaction for robot navigation in the scene of entering the elevator. RL provides robots with a high exploration ability to find a new clear path to enter the elevator compared to traditional navigation methods such as Optimal Reciprocal Collision Avoidance (ORCA). The proposed method allows the robot to take an active clear path action towards the elevator whilst a crowd of people stands at the entrance of the elevator wherein there are still lots of space. This is done by embedding a clear path action (voice prompt) into the RL framework, and the proposed navigation policy helps the robot to finish tasks efficiently and safely. Our model approach provides a great improvement in the success rate and reward of entering the elevator compared to state-of-the-art navigation policies without active clear path operation.

Adaptive Embedding Pattern for Grayscale-Invariance Reversible Data Hiding

In traditional reversible data hiding (RDH) methods, researchers pay attention to enlarge the embedding capacity (EC) and to reduce the embedding distortion (ED). Recently, a completely novel RDH algorithm was developed to embed secret data into color image without changing the corresponding grayscale [1], which largely expands the applications of RDH. In [1], for color image, channel R and channel B are exploited to carry secret information, channel G is adjusted for balancing the modifications of channel R and channel B to keep the invariance of grayscale. However, we found that the embedding performance (EP) of that method is still unsatisfied and could be further enhanced. To improve the EP, an adaptive embedding pattern is introduced to enhance the competence of algorithm for selectively embedding different bits of secret data into pixels according to context information. Moreover, a novel two-level predictor is designed by uniting two normal predictors for reducing the ED for embedding more bits. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to the previous method, our scheme could significantly enhance the image fidelity while keeping the grayscale invariant.
