Magnetic Moments and Radiative Transitions of the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ and its partner states

We systematically investigate the magnetic moments (MMs) and radiative decay widths of S-wave doubly heavy tetraquark states based on chromomagnetic interaction (CMI). They provide a complementary probe to distinguish compact from molecule structures in addition to the mass spectrum and strong decay properties. Using the CMI eigenvectors, we compute the MMs and M1 transition rates for the tetraquarks in the compact configuration. We predict the MM of the observed $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ with $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$ to be 0.45 $\mu_N$ when treating it as a compact tetraquark state, whereas the MM of the $0(1^+)$ $DD^*$ molecule is about $-0.07\,\mu_N$. Five radiative transition channels related to the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ are identified with widths ranging from $6.07$ keV to $306.37$ keV. Our results show that the MMs of the $J^P=1^+$ $bc\bar{q}\bar{q}^\prime$ ($q/q^\prime=u,d,s$) and $J^P=1^+$ $QQ\bar{n}\bar{s}$ ($Q=b,c; n=u,d$) states are influenced by the diquark-spin mixing. Through the analyses of radiative transitions between different tetraquark states, we find that such processes in the $QQ\bar{n}\bar{n}^\prime$, $QQ\bar{s}\bar{s}$, and $bc\bar{n}\bar{s}$ cases may serve to reveal the tetraquark structures of the initial or final states. We also define the magnetic coupling matrices characterizing the MMs of the tetraquark system with $J^P=1^+$, with which the range of MM can be constrained. The present study provides a valuable reference point for the search of exotic states in future particle physics experiments.

$T^a_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)$, $T_{cs0}^*(2900)^0$, and other singly heavy tetraquark states

We systematically study the mass spectra of $S$-wave singly heavy tetraquark states $Qq\bar{q}\bar{q}$ ($Q=c,b$; $q=u,d,s$) in a mass splitting model. We adopt the assumption that the $X(4140)$ is the lowest $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark and use this state as a reference to determine the mass splittings. According to the obtained results, we also estimate the rearrangement decay widths of the tetraquarks within a simple scheme. We find that the recently observed states $T^a_{c\bar{s}0}(2900)^{++/0}$ and $T_{cs0}^*(2900)^0$ by the LHCb Collaboration can be consistently interpreted as the second highest $I(J^P)=1(0^+)$ $cn\bar{s}\bar{n}$ ($n=u,d$) and the higher $I(J^P)=0(0^+)$ $cs\bar{n}\bar{n}$ tetraquark states, respectively. We predict several narrow tetraquark candidates: the lowest $cn\bar{s}\bar{n}$ and $cs\bar{n}\bar{n}$ with $I(J^P)=0(0^+)$ and $0(1^+)$, and their bottom counterparts. The obtained information from mass spectrum and rearrangement decay properties will help search for the new singly heavy tetraquark states.

Doubly heavy hadron production in ultraperipheral collisions

The inclusive production of pseudoscalar heavy quarkonia ($\eta_c,\, \eta_b,\, B_c$), double heavy baryons $\Xi_{QQ^\prime}$ ($Q^{(\prime)}=c,\,b$ quarks) and tetraquarks $T_{QQ}$ in heavy ion ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) is studied. Numerical results indicate that the experimental investigation of $\eta_c,\, \Xi_{cc}$, and $T_{cc}$ is feasible at the upcoming HL-LHC and future FCC. Heavy ion UPCs open another avenue for studying the production of these doubly heavy hadrons.

Doubly-charmed pentaquark states in a mass splitting model

Concentrating on the mass differences relative to $P_{\psi}^{N}(4312)^+$, we systematically investigate the spectra of doubly-charmed pentaquark states in the compact $ccqq\bar{q}$ ($q=u, d, s$) configuration. The assumption that the observed $P_{\psi}^{N}(4312)^+$ is a compact hidden-charm pentaquark with $I(J^P)=\frac12(\frac32^-)$ is adopted. We also study the properties of strong decays within a simple rearrangement scheme. The results indicate that the $I(J^P)=\frac12(\frac12^-)$ $ccnn\bar{n}$ with $I_{nn}=0$ where $n$ denotes $u$ or $d$ quark, $I(J^P)=0(\frac12^-)$ $ccnn\bar{s}$, and $I(J^P)=0(\frac12^-)$ $ccns\bar{n}$ ground states should be stable.

The exclusive production of a fully heavy tetraquark and a photon in electron-positron collision

The exclusive production of fully heavy tetraquark ($T(bb\bar{b}\bar{b})$, $T(cc\bar{c}\bar{c})$ and $T(bc\bar{b}\bar{c})$) in association with a hard photon in electron-positron collisions is calculated within the framework of non-relativistic QCD. Both inner structures of molecule-like state and compact state with $J=0,1,2$ for the fully heavy tetraquark are discussed. We find that it is dismal to observe any fully heavy tetraquarks in either the compact configuration or the molecule-like configuration through such exclusive processes at either Belle II or future Z factories like CEPC and FCC-ee.

Triply heavy tetraquark states in a mass-splitting model

In a modified chromomagnetic interaction model, assuming $X(4140)$ to be the lowest $1^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark and treating it as the reference state, we systematically investigated the masses of the triply-heavy tetraquark states $QQ\bar{Q}\bar{q}$ ($Q=c,b;q=u,d,s$). Because of their higher masses, no stable tetraquarks were found. Using a simple scheme, we also estimated the partial widths of the rearrangement decay channels and relevant ratios. A compact triply heavy tetraquark candidate would be favored if its observed mass and partial width ratios were comparable with our predictions. We hope that the present work will be helpful for further studies.

Production of doubly charmed tetraquark $T_{cc}$ via photon-photon fusion at electron-positron colliders

Within a phenomenological diquark fragmentation model, we study the production of doubly charmed tetraquark $T_{cc}$ via photon-photon fusion at electron-positron colliders. The production of $T_{cc}$ is divided into two steps: the perturbative production of heavy $(cc)$-diquark and its nonperturbative hadronization. Two diquark configurations of $(cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar{3}}$ and $(cc)[^1S_0]_{6}$ are considered, and the $(cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar{3}}$ state dominates the produciotn of $T_{cc}$. We discuss two hadronization models of $(cc)[^3S_1]_{\bar{3}}$ intermediate state into the tetraquark $T_{cc}$. It is found that it is promising to observe the tetraquark $T_{cc}$ via photon-photon fusion process both at the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) and the International Linear Collider (ILC). We find that the cross sections are sensitive to constituent charm quark mass of diquark, and they also have strong dependence on the hadronization models.

Pseudoscalar heavy quarkonium production in heavy ion ultraperipheral collision

The inclusive production of pseudoscalar heavy quarkoniua ($\eta_c,~\eta_b$ and $B_c$) via photon-photon fusion in heavy ion ultraperipheral collision (UPC) are calculated to QCD next-to-leading order in the framework of non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD). The total cross section of $\eta_c$ produced in Pb-Pb UPC is 194 $\mathrm{nb}$ and 1275 $\mathrm{nb}$ at nucleon-nucleon c.m. energies $\sqrt{S_{\mathrm{NN}}}=$ 5.52 TeV and 39.4 TeV, respectively. The cross sections for $\eta_b$ and $B_c$ mesons are more than two to three orders of magnitude smaller. We make a detailed phenomenological analysis on the $\eta_c$ production; the uncertainties caused by the renormalization scale and the charm quark mass, the cross sections in other ultraperipheral nucleon-nucleon colliding systems, and the transverse momentum distribution are discussed. At the coming HL-LHC and future FCC, the heavy ion UPC opens another door of the study on the production of heavy quarkonium.

Charmonium states in a coupled-channel model

We systematically investigate the mass spectrum and two-body open-charm strong decays of charmonium states in a coupled-channel model where the $^3P_0$ quark-antiquark pair creation mechanism is employed. The results of masses, mass shifts, proportions of the $c\bar{c}$ component, and open-charm decay widths are provided. The $S$-$D$ wave mixing angles and di-electric decay widths for vector mesons are also presented. Based on our results, we find that the $\psi(3770)$, $\psi(4040)$, $\psi(4160)$, $\psi(4360)$, and $\psi(4415)$ can be assigned as the $1^3D_1$-, $3^3S_1$-, $2^3D_1$-, $4^3S_1$-, and $3^3D_1$-dominated charmonium states, respectively. The $\psi_3(3842)$ is a good candidate of the $\psi_3(1D)$ charmonium state. The calculated mass and strong decay width of $\chi_{c1}(2P)$ with significant continuum contribution ($\sim$57\%) favor the charmonium interpretation for the mysterious $\chi_{c1}(3872)$. When considering the large uncertainty in the observed decay width, the possibility to assign the $\chi_{c0}(3860)$ as the $\chi_{c0}(2P)$ charmonium state cannot be ruled out. One may describe well the properties of $\chi_{c2}(3930)$ with the $\chi_{c2}(2P)$ charmonium. The predictions on properties of other $c\bar{c}$ states can be tested by future experiments.

Doubly heavy tetraquark states in a mass splitting model

Treating the $X(4140)$ as a compact $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ state and using its mass as a reference scale, we systematically estimate the masses of doubly heavy tetraquark states $QQ\bar{q}\bar{q}$ where $Q=c,b$ and $q=u,d,s$. Their decay properties are studied with a simple rearrangement scheme. Based on our results, the lowest $I(J^P)=0(1^+)$ $bb\bar{n}\bar{n}$ state is a stable tetraquark about 20 MeV below the $\bar{B}^*\bar{B}$ threshold. The mass and width of the low-mass $0(1^+)$ $cc\bar{n}\bar{n}$ ($n=u,d$) tetraquark are compatible with the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ observed by the LHCb Collaboration. The location of the lowest $0(0^+)$ and $0(1^+)$ $bc\bar{n}\bar{n}$ states are found to be close to the $\bar{B}D$ and $\bar{B}^*D$ thresholds, respectively. We hope that the predicted ratios between partial widths of different channels may be helpful to identify compact tetraquark states from future measurements.

$X(3960)$, $X_0(4140)$, and other compact $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ states

We study the spectrum and rearrangement decays of S-wave $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark states in a simplified quark model. The masses and widths are estimated by assuming that the $X(4140)$ is the lower $1^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark. Comparing our results with experimental measurements, we find that the recently observed $X(3960)$ by LHCb can be assigned as the lowest $0^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark state and the $X_0(4140)$ could be the second lowest $0^{++}$ $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquark. Predictions of ratios between partial widths for the involved tetraquarks are given. We call for searches for more $cs\bar{c}\bar{s}$ tetraquarks with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$, $0^{++}$, and $2^{++}$.

Hidden-charm pentaquark states in a mass splitting model

Assuming that the $P_c(4312)^+$ is a $I(J^P)=\frac12(\frac32^-)$ compact pentaquark, we study the mass spectrum of its S-wave hidden-charm partner states in a color-magnetic interaction model. Combining the information from their decays obtained in a simple rearrangement scheme, one finds that the quantum numbers of $P_c(4457)^+$, $ P_c(4440)^+$, and $P_c(4337)^+$ can be assigned to be $I(J^P)=\frac12(\frac32^-)$, $\frac12(\frac12^-)$, and $\frac12(\frac12^-)$, respectively, while both $P_{cs}(4338)^0$ and $P_{cs}(4459)^0$ can be interpreted as $I(J^P)=0(\frac12^-)$ $udsc\bar{c}$ compact states. Based on the numerical results, we also find narrow pentaquarks in $ssnc\bar{c}$ ($n=u,d$) and $sssc\bar{c}$ systems. The decay properties of the studied pentaquarks and the searching channels for them can be tested in future experiments.

Chiral Lagrangians for singly heavy baryons to $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$ order

The chiral Lagrangians for singly heavy baryons are constructed up to the $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$ order. The involved baryons may be in a flavor antitriplet with spin-1/2, a flavor sextet with spin-$1/2$, or a flavor sextet with spin-3/2 when one considers three light flavors. For the relativistic version of Lagrangian, from $\mathcal{O}(p^{2})$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$, there exist 48, 199, and 1242 independent terms in the $SU(2)$ case and 59, 307, and 2454 independent terms in the $SU(3)$ case, respectively. For the Lagrangian in the heavy quark limit, from $\mathcal{O}(p^{2})$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$, the numbers of independent terms are reduced to 16, 64, and 412 in the $SU(2)$ case and to 17, 88, and 714 in the $SU(3)$ case, respectively. We obtain the low-energy constant relations between the relativistic case and the heavy-quark case up to the $\mathcal{O}(p^{3})$ order. The relations between low-energy constants of independent relativistic terms are also presented up to this order by using the heavy quark symmetry.

Chiral Lagrangians for spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ and spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons

The relativistic chiral Lagrangians for both spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ and spin-$\frac{3}{2}$ doubly charmed baryons are constructed up to the order $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$. From $\mathcal{O}(p^{2})$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$, there are 19, 74, and 452 independent terms in the two-flavor case and 25, 112, and 864 independent terms in the three-flavor case. The chiral Lagrangians in the heavy diquark limit are also obtained. From $\mathcal{O}(p^{2})$ to $\mathcal{O}(p^{4})$, there are 7, 23, and 118 independent terms in the two-flavor case and 8, 31, and 189 independent terms in the three-flavor case. We present the low-energy constant relations between the relativistic case and the case in the heavy diquark limit up to the order $\mathcal{O}(p^{3})$. With the heavy diquark-antiquark symmetry, the low-energy constant relations between the doubly charmed baryon case and the heavy-light meson case are also obtained up to the order $\mathcal{O}(p^{3})$.

Relations for low-energy constants in baryon chiral perturbation theory with explicit $\Delta(1232)$ derived from the chiral quark model

We study the relations between low-energy constants (LECs) in the chiral Lagrangians with $\Delta(1232)$ and those in the quark-level description model up to the third chiral order. Ten structure correspondences are involved in getting the relations. This situation is more complicated than the spin-1/2 baryon case. The obtained results may help to further investigations involving the $\Delta(1232)$ baryons.

Relations for low-energy coupling constants in baryon chiral perturbation theory derived from the chiral quark model

The quark model symmetry can be adopted to establish relations between the low-energy constants (LECs) in the baryon chiral perturbation theory ($\chi PT$) if one assumes that a baryon-baryon-meson coupling is described equivalently by a quark-quark-meson coupling at the quark level. Through the correspondence between the $SU(2)$ description and the $SU(3)$ description for the same coupling vertex at the quark level, we find some relations between the LECs in $SU(2)_{\chi PT}$ and $SU(3)_{\chi PT}$ up to the third chiral order. The $SU(3)_{\chi PT}$ LEC relations at the same order are also obtained. The numerical analysis roughly supports these relations. In the situation that the available experimental data are not enough, one may employ such constraints to reduce the number of LECs.

An updated review of the new hadron states

The past decades witnessed the golden era of hadron physics. Many excited open heavy flavor mesons and baryons have been observed since 2017. We shall provide an updated review of the recent experimental and theoretical progresses in this active field. Besides the conventional heavy hadrons, we shall also review the recently observed open heavy flavor tetraquark states $X(2900)$ and $T_{cc}^+(3875)$ as well as the hidden heavy flavor multiquark states $X(6900)$, $P_{cs}(4459)^0$, $Z_{cs}(3985)^-$, $Z_{cs}(4000)^+$, and $Z_{cs}(4220)^+$. We will also cover the recent progresses on the glueballs and light hybrid mesons, which are the direct manifestations of the non-Abelian $SU(3)$ gauge interaction of the Quantum Chromodynamics in the low-energy region.

Colour and baryon number fluctuation of preconfinement system in production process and T_cc structure

We suggest to study the production mechanism and some details of the production properties to probe the structure of the DDpi resonance T_cc^+ recently observed by the LHCb Collaboration. If the resonance is produced as a four-quark state, one can find the corresponding finger prints via measurements on some production properties that are the same as those of Xi_cc. The reason is that a special colour connection on the interface between the perturbative and non perturbative QCD is required for these doubly-charm hadron production. On the other hand, if T_cc^+ is produced as a hadron molecule, the measurement on the momentum correlation of DD^* can be a smoking gun to make the judgement. The present data favour a compact four-quark state production via the cc diquark fragmentation.
