Exact Multi-Point Correlations in the Stochastic Heat Equation for Strictly Sublinear Coordinates

We consider the Stochastic Heat Equation (SHE) in $(1+1)$ dimensions with delta Dirac initial data and spacetime white noise. We prove exact large-time asymptotics for multi-point correlations of the SHE for strictly sublinear space coordinates. The sublinear condition is optimal, in the sense that different asymptotics are known to occur when the space coordinates grow linearly [Lin 2023, Theorem 1.1]. Lastly, a notable feature of our result is that it confirms the connection between multi-point correlations in the SHE and the ground state of the Hamiltonian of the delta-Bose gas.

Multi-point Lyapunov exponents of the Stochastic Heat Equation

We obtain the multi-point positive integer Lyapunov exponents of the Stochastic Heat Equation (SHE) and provide three expressions for them. We prove the result by matching the upper and lower bounds for the Lyapunov exponents. The upper bound is obtained by analyzing the contour integral formula in [Borodin-Corwin 2014]. For the lower bound, we apply an induction argument, relying on a tree recently appeared in [Tsai 2023]. The tree is related to the optimal trajectories of the Brownian motions in the Feynman-Kac formula.

Spacetime limit shapes of the KPZ equation in the upper tails

We consider the $n$-point, fixed-time large deviations of the KPZ equation with the narrow wedge initial condition. The scope consists of concave-configured, upper-tail deviations and a wide range of scaling regimes that allows time to be short, unit-order, and long. We prove the $n$-point large deviation principle and characterize, with proof, the corresponding spacetime limit shape. Our proof is based on the results -- from the companion paper Tsai (2023) -- on moments of the stochastic heat equation and utilizes ideas coming from a tree decomposition. Behind our proof lies the phenomenon where the major contribution of the noise concentrates around certain corridors in spacetime, and we explicitly describe the corridors.

Strong law of large numbers for the stochastic six vertex model

We consider the inhomogeneous stochastic six vertex model with periodicity starting from step initial data. We prove that it converges almost surely to a deterministic limit shape. For the proof, we map the stochastic six vertex model to a deformed version of the discrete Hammersley process. Then we construct a colored version of the model and apply Liggett's superadditive ergodic theorem. The construction of the colored model includes a new idea using a Boolean-type product, which generalizes and simplifies the method used in arXiv:2204.11158.

A lower-tail limit in the weak noise theory

We consider the variational problem associated with the Freidlin--Wentzell Large Deviation Principle of the Stochastic Heat Equation (SHE). The logarithm of the minimizer of the variational problem gives the most probable shape of the solution of the Kardar--Parisi--Zhang equation conditioned on achieving certain unlikely values. Taking the SHE with the delta initial condition and conditioning the value of its solution at the origin at a later time, under suitable scaling, we prove that the logarithm of the minimizer converges to an explicit function as we tune the value of the conditioning to $ 0 $. Our result confirms the physics prediction Kolokolov and Korshunov (2009), Meerson, Katzav, and Vilenkin (2016), Kamenev, Meerson, and Sasorov (2016).

Long and short time laws of iterated logarithms for the KPZ fixed point

We consider the KPZ fixed point starting from a general class of initial data. In this article, we study the growth of the large peaks of the KPZ fixed point at a spatial point $0$ when time $t$ goes to $\infty$ and when $t$ approaches $1$. We prove that for a very broad class of initial data, as $t\to \infty$, the limsup of the KPZ fixed point height function when scaled by $t^{1/3}(\log\log t)^{2/3}$ almost surely equals a constant. The value of the constant is $(3/4)^{2/3}$ or $(3/2)^{2/3}$ depending on the initial data being non-random or Brownian respectively. Furthermore, we show that the increments of the KPZ fixed point near $t=1$ admits a short time law of iterated logarithm. More precisely, as the time increments $\Delta t :=t-1$ goes down to $0$, for a large class of initial data including the Brownian data initial data, we show that limsup of the height increments the KPZ fixed point near time $1$ when scaled by $(\Delta t)^{1/3}(\log\log (\Delta t)^{-1})^{2/3}$ almost surely equals $(3/2)^{2/3}$.

Classification of Stationary distributions for the stochastic vertex models

In this paper, we study the stationary distributions for the stochastic vertex models. Our main focus is the stochastic six vertex (S6V) model. We show that the extremal stationary distributions of the S6V model are given by product Bernoulli measures. Moreover, for the S6V model under a moving frame of speed $1$, we show that the extremal stationary distributions are given by product Bernoulli measures and blocking measures. Finally, we generalize our results to the stochastic higher spin six vertex model. Our proof relies on the coupling of the S6V models introduced in [Aggarwal, 2020], the analysis of current and the method of fusion.

Hydrodynamics of the $t$-PNG model via a colored $t$-PNG model

The $t$-PNG model introduced in Aggarwal, Borodin, and Wheeler (2021) is a deformed version of the polynuclear growth (PNG) model. In this paper, we prove the hydrodynamic limit of the model using soft techniques. One key element of the proof is the construction of a colored version of the $t$-PNG model, which allows us to apply the superadditive ergodic theorem and obtain the hydrodynamic limit, albeit without identifying the limiting constant. We then find this constant by proving a law of large numbers for the $\alpha$-points, which generalizes Groeneboom (2001). Along the way, we construct the stationary $t$-PNG model and prove a version of Burke's theorem for it.

KPZ equation with a small noise, deep upper tail and limit shape

In this paper, we consider the KPZ equation under the weak noise scaling. That is, we introduce a small parameter $\sqrt{\varepsilon}$ in front of the noise and let $\varepsilon \to 0$. We prove that the one-point large deviation rate function has a $\frac{3}{2}$ power law in the deep upper tail. Furthermore, by forcing the value of the KPZ equation at a point to be very large, we prove a limit shape of the KPZ equation as $\varepsilon \to 0$. This confirms the physics prediction in Kolokolov and Korshunov (2007), Kolokolov and Korshunov (2009), Meerson, Katzav, and Vilenkin (2016), Kamenev, Meerson, and Sasorov (2016), and Le Doussal, Majumdar, Rosso, and Schehr (2016).

Short time large deviations of the KPZ equation

We establish the Freidlin--Wentzell Large Deviation Principle (LDP) for the Stochastic Heat Equation with multiplicative noise in one spatial dimension. That is, we introduce a small parameter $ \sqrt{\varepsilon} $ to the noise, and establish an LDP for the trajectory of the solution. Such a Freidlin--Wentzell LDP gives the short-time, one-point LDP for the KPZ equation in terms of a variational problem. Analyzing this variational problem under the narrow wedge initial data, we prove a quadratic law for the near-center tail and a $ \frac52 $ law for the deep lower tail. These power laws confirm existing physics predictions Kolokolov and Korshunov (2007), Kolokolov and Korshunov (2009), Meerson, Katzav, and Vilenkin (2016), Le Doussal, Majumdar, Rosso, and Schehr (2016), and Kamenev, Meerson, and Sasorov (2016).

Lyapunov exponents of the half-line SHE

We consider the half-line stochastic heat equation (SHE) with Robin boundary parameter $A = -\frac{1}{2}$. Under narrow wedge initial condition, we compute every positive (including non-integer) Lyapunov exponents of the half-line SHE. As a consequence, we prove a large deviation principle for the upper tail of the half-line KPZ equation under Neumann boundary parameter $A = -\frac{1}{2}$ with rate function $\Phi_+^{\text{hf}} (s) = \frac{2}{3} s^{\frac{3}{2}}$. This confirms the prediction of [Krajenbrink and Le Doussal 2018] and [Meerson, Vilenkin 2018] for the upper tail exponent of the half-line KPZ equation.

Lyapunov exponents of the SHE for general initial data

We consider the $(1+1)$-dimensional stochastic heat equation (SHE) with multiplicative white noise and the Cole-Hopf solution of the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation. We show an exact way of computing the Lyapunov exponents of the SHE for a large class of initial data which includes any bounded deterministic positive initial data and the stationary initial data. As a consequence, we derive exact formulas for the upper tail large deviation rate functions of the KPZ equation for general initial data.

The stochastic telegraph equation limit of the stochastic higher spin six vertex model

In this paper, we prove that the stochastic telegraph equation arises as a scaling limit of the stochastic higher spin six vertex (SHS6V) model with general spin $I/2, J/2$. This extends results of Borodin and Gorin which focused on the $I=J=1$ six vertex case and demonstrates the universality of the stochastic telegraph equation in this context. We also provide a functional extension of the central limit theorem obtained in [Borodin and Gorin 2019, Theorem 6.1]. The main idea is to generalize the four point relation established in [Borodin and Gorin 2019, Theorem 3.1], using fusion.

KPZ equation limit of stochastic higher spin six vertex model

We consider the stochastic higher spin six vertex (SHS6V) model introduced in [Corwin-Petrov, 2016] with general integer spin parameters $I, J$. Starting from near stationary initial condition, we prove that the SHS6V model converges to the KPZ equation under weakly asymmetric scaling. This generalizes the result of [Corwin-Ghosal-Shen-Tsai, 2018] from $I = J =1$ to general $I, J$.

Markov Duality for Stochastic Six Vertex Model

We prove that Sch\"{u}tz's ASEP Markov duality functional is also a Markov duality functional for the stochastic six vertex model. We introduce a new method that uses induction on the number of particles to prove the Markov duality.

Second order behavior of the block counting process of beta coalescents

The Beta coalescents are stochastic processes modeling the genealogy of a population. They appear as the rescaled limits of the genealogical trees of numerous stochastic population models. In this article, we take interest in the number of blocs at small times in the Beta coalescent. Berestycki, Berestycki and Schweinsberg proved a law of large numbers for this quantity. Recently, Limic and Talarczyk proved that a functional central limit theorem holds as well. We give here a simple proof for an unidimensional version of this result, using a coupling between Beta coalescents and continuous-time branching processes.
