Heterogeneous Graph Condensation via Role-Aware Clustering

Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks (HGNNs) have exhibited remarkable efficacy in modeling complex systems with multiple types of nodes and relations, yet their training on large-scale heterogeneous graphs remains computationally prohibitive. Although graph condensation methods can effectively improve learning efficiency on large-scale graphs, existing condensation processes are mainly designed for homogeneous graphs and typically rely on computationally expensive gradient matching or bilevel optimization paradigms, rendering them impractical for heterogeneous settings. To address these limitations, we propose HGC-RC, a simple yet effective role-aware heterogeneous graph condensation framework. Specifically, HGC-RC first extracts semantically enhanced node embeddings via lightweight propagation. It then introduces a role-aware hybrid clustering strategy consisting of class-partitioned clustering for labeled target nodes to preserve class distributions and unsupervised type-wise clustering for non-target nodes to retain critical cross-type connectivity. Finally, a compact heterogeneous graph is efficiently reconstructed based on the resulting cluster assignments. Extensive experiments demonstrate that HGC-RC outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, offering a practical pathway to accelerate HGNN training on large-scale heterogeneous graphs without sacrificing task performance

Minimizing Quantized Semantic Age of Information (QSAoI) in Foundation Model-Based Semantic Communications

The emerging techniques of semantic communications and edge computing in 6G networks necessitate a paradigm shift toward co-designed semantic-aware and adaptive resource allocation for short-packet transmissions. However, there is a fundamental gap between the semantic layer and the physical layer under low-latency finite blocklength (FBL) effects. To bridge this gap, we introduce the Quantized Semantic Age of Information (QSAoI), a novel metric that rigorously captures the trade-offs among freshness and semantic efficiency of high-level features in real-time communication in the FBL regime. Guided by this metric, we propose a novel foundation model-based efficient co-designed framework to minimize the expected QSAoI over wireless fading channels in latency-constrained semantic communication. Specifically, we formulate a non-linear joint optimization problem to dynamically optimize the block-wise mixed-precision quantization (MPQ) strategy and the physical blocklength. To efficiently resolve this complex problem, we develop a high-efficiency low-complexity algorithm based on fixpoint inspection and bisection search. Extensive simulations validate that our proposed algorithm dynamically adapts the semantic quantization precision to varying channel conditions, effectively minimizing the expected QSAoI compared to baselines.

SocialPersona: Benchmarking Personalized Profiling and Response with Multimodal Social-Media Context

Personalized language-model assistants are often evaluated through a memory lens: can a model recall preferences users have explicitly stated in dialogue? More comprehensive personalization demands a harder capability -- inferring what users care about from the multimodal traces they naturally leave behind. We introduce SocialPersona, a benchmark for evaluating whether multimodal large language models (MLLMs) can recover revealed preferences from longitudinal social-media timelines and use them in dialogue. Built from longitudinal timelines of 171 everyday, non-promotional social-media users, SocialPersona contains text, images, timestamps, and 2,597 human-verified preference tags across seven interest domains, separating stable interests from recent interests. It supports two tasks: constructing structured user profiles from multimodal context and generating responses aligned with inferred profiles. Experiments with proprietary and open-weight MLLMs show that models can identify broad interest domains, yet their performance drops on fine-grained and recent interests and degrades further when inferred profiles must be used to personalize dialogue. Together with evidence that text and images provide complementary preference signals, these results indicate that robust cross-modal, long-horizon user modeling remains a key challenge, and that SocialPersona can help measure and advance progress toward assistants that infer and act on revealed preferences.

An Efficient and Scalable Graph Condensation with Structure-Preserving

Graph condensation (GC) is pivotal for enabling Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) deployment in resource-constrained scenarios by compressing large-scale graphs into compact synthetic counterparts. Existing GC methods commonly suffer from computational inefficiency due to coupled optimization as well as encountering poor generalization across GNN architectures. To address these challenges, this study proposes an Efficient and Scalable Graph Condensation with Structure-Preserving (SP-ESGC), which possesses a decoupled design that separates node condensation from graph structure generation. Specifically, it first employs heat kernel feature propagation to generate node representation via spectral graph theory-inspired diffusion. Further, a novel hybrid clustering strategy is designed to extracts discriminative intra-class centroids from the node representation. Finally, a pre-trained edge predictor infers transferable structural patterns from the original graph, ensuring accurate synthetic graph generation. Extensive experiments on real-world graph datasets demonstrate that the proposed SP-ESGC implementes a precise GC with significantly high computational efficiency. Moreover, SP-ESGC also generalizes well across diverse GNN architectures.

ENPMR-Bench: Benchmarking Proactive Memory Retrieval for Emotional Support Agents

Memory-augmented language agents are increasingly deployed in affective applications such as emotional support, where understanding and responding to users' latent emotional needs is critical. However, existing research often treats memory as a tool for factual retrieval, overlooking its role in shaping users' emotional experiences. In this work, we introduce ENPMR-Bench, a benchmark for evaluating Emotional Need-aware Proactive Memory Retrieval (ENPMR), a core capability that enables agents to infer users' latent emotional needs and proactively retrieve appropriate memories to support empathetic interaction. Grounded in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, ENPMR-Bench includes over 1,800 memory-augmented dialogues and defines structured mappings between emotional needs and supportive memory types. Experimental results demonstrate that current retrieval paradigms, including both embedding-based and LLM-driven approaches, exhibit substantial deficiencies, with empathy scores significantly lagging behind golden memory conditions. While chain-of-thought prompting improves the alignment between inferred emotional needs and retrieved memories to some extent, a notable performance gap remains. Together, these findings reveal critical limitations in current agents and outline directions for advancing personalized emotional support through need-sensitive memory retrieval.

When Personalization Legitimizes Risks: Uncovering Safety Vulnerabilities in Personalized Dialogue Agents

Long-term memory enables large language model (LLM) agents to support personalized and sustained interactions. However, most work on personalized agents prioritizes utility and user experience, treating memory as a neutral component and largely overlooking its safety implications. In this paper, we reveal intent legitimation, a previously underexplored safety failure in personalized agents, where benign personal memories bias intent inference and cause models to legitimize inherently harmful queries. To study this phenomenon, we introduce PS-Bench, a benchmark designed to identify and quantify intent legitimation in personalized interactions. Across multiple memory-augmented agent frameworks and base LLMs, personalization increases attack success rates by 15.8\%--243.7\% relative to stateless baselines. We further provide mechanistic evidence for intent legitimation from internal representations space, and propose a lightweight detection-reflection method that effectively reduces safety degradation. Overall, our work provides the first systematic exploration and evaluation of intent legitimation as a safety failure mode that naturally arises from benign, real-world personalization, highlighting the importance of assessing safety under long-term personal context. TEA-Bench: A Systematic Benchmarking of Tool-enhanced Emotional Support Dialogue Agent

Emotional Support Conversation requires not only affective expression but also grounded instrumental support to provide trustworthy guidance. However, existing ESC systems and benchmarks largely focus on affective support in text-only settings, overlooking how external tools can enable factual grounding and reduce hallucination in multi-turn emotional support. We introduce TEA-Bench, the first interactive benchmark for evaluating tool-augmented agents in ESC, featuring realistic emotional scenarios, an MCP-style tool environment, and process-level metrics that jointly assess the quality and factual grounding of emotional support. Experiments on nine LLMs show that tool augmentation generally improves emotional support quality and reduces hallucination, but the gains are strongly capacity-dependent: stronger models use tools more selectively and effectively, while weaker models benefit only marginally. We further release TEA-Dialog, a dataset of tool-enhanced ESC dialogues, and find that supervised fine-tuning improves in-distribution support but generalizes poorly. Our results underscore the importance of tool use in building reliable emotional support agents. Our code and data can be found in https://github.com/XingYuSSS/TEA-Bench.

Analytically Characterized Optimal Power Control for Signal-Level-Integrated Sensing, Computing and Communication in Federated Learning

In the Internet-of-Things (IoT) era, efficient functionality integration is essential to address the growing demands of communication, computation, and sensing. Signal-level integrated sensing, computing, and communication (Sig-ISCC) is envisioned, where a single waveform simultaneously supports sensing, computing and communication via over-the-air computation (AirComp). Meanwhile, federated learning (FL) is widely regarded as a promising distributed machine learning framework that enables network intelligence in a privacy-preserving and secure manner, and exhibits strong synergy with AirComp, which alleviates the communication bottleneck of FL. In this paper, we study uplink Sig-ISCC design for AirComp-FL with joint target detection. We formulate the joint power and receive-scaling control problem, where edge devices' transmitted signals should serve both sensing and AirComp purposes. The goal is to minimize the AirComp aggregation distortion subject to a joint target-detection requirement. Although the resulting problem is non-convex in the original variables, we show that it admits an equivalent convex reformulation after a suitable variable transformation. By exploiting analytical optimality properties, we develop a robust, optimal, and polynomial-time-complexity algorithm that efficiently achieves the optimal transmit powers and receive scaling factor. Simulation results validate the optimality and numerical robustness of the proposed algorithm and show its superior FL performance compared to baseline methods.

On Signal Peak Power Constraint of Over-the-Air Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) has been considered a promising privacy preserving distributed edge learning framework. Over-the-air computation (AirComp) leveraging analog transmission enables the aggregation of local updates directly over-the-air by exploiting the superposition properties of wireless multiple-access channels, thereby alleviating the communication bottleneck issues of FL compared with digital transmission schemes. This work points out that existing AirComp-FL overlooks a key practical constraint, the instantaneous peak-power constraints due to the non-linearity of radio-frequency power amplifiers. Operating directly in non-linear region causes in-band and out-of-band distortions. We present and analyze the effect of the default method that limits the signal's peak power and out-of-band distortions, iterative amplitude clipping combined with filtering. We investigate the effect of imposing instantaneous peak-power constraints in AirComp-FL for both single-carrier and multi-carrier orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Simulation results demonstrate that, in practical settings, the instantaneous transmit power in AirComp-FL regularly exceeds the power-amplifier linearity limit. As the first work of this line of research, it is essential to evaluate if this is an actual problem that has an impact on FL performance. We therefore apply the classic method of iterative clipping and filtering, and show that the FL performance degrades more or less depending on the scenarios. The degradation becomes pronounced especially in multi-carrier OFDM systems due to the in-band distortions caused by clipping and filtering.

Generative Semantic HARQ: Latent-Space Text Retransmission and Combining

Semantic communication conveys meaning rather than raw bits, but reliability at the semantic level remains an open challenge. We propose a semantic-level hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) framework for text communication, in which a Transformer-variational autoencoder (VAE) codec operates as a lightweight overlay on the conventional protocol stack. The stochastic encoder inherently generates diverse latent representations across retransmissions-providing incremental knowledge (IK) from a single model without dedicated protocol design. On the receiver side, a soft quality estimator triggers retransmissions and a quality-aware combiner merges the received latent vectors within a consistent latent space. We systematically benchmark six semantic quality metrics and four soft combining strategies under hybrid semantic distortion that mixes systematic bias with additive noise. The results suggest combining Weighted-Average or MRC-Inspired combining with self-consistency-based HARQ triggering for the best performance.

Efficient Trajectory Design and Communication Scheduling for Dual-UAV Jamming-Aided Secure Communication Networks

We study dual-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) jamming-aided secure communication networks, in which one UAV delivers confidential data to multiple ground users (GUs), while a cooperative UAV provides protective interference against a ground eavesdropper. To enforce fairness, we maximize the minimum secrecy throughput across GUs by jointly designing trajectories and communication scheduling. The key difficulty lies in the continuous-time nature of UAV trajectories and the tight space-time coupling between the transmitter and the jammer, which jointly render the problem infinite-dimensional and nonconvex. To address these challenges, we characterize, for the first time, the structure of the optimal trajectories and rigorously prove that they follow a collaborative successive hover-and-fly (co-SHF) structure, where the two UAVs visit a limited number of synchronized co-hovering point pairs, and during each flight segment at least one UAV moves at maximum speed. Leveraging this structure, we reformulate the problem into a finite-dimensional form, without loss of optimality, over hovering and turning points, hovering durations, and scheduling. For tractability, we adopt a minimum-distance approximation of continuous anti-collision constraints and employ concave lower bounds on secrecy throughput within a successive convex approximation (SCA) method, which converges and, thanks to the co-SHF reduction in optimization variables and constraints, achieves low computational complexity. Numerical results show that, compared with time-discretization and no-jamming benchmarks, the proposed co-SHF design improves the min-secrecy and user fairness while requiring significantly less runtime.

OP-Bench: Benchmarking Over-Personalization for Memory-Augmented Personalized Conversational Agents

Memory-augmented conversational agents enable personalized interactions using long-term user memory and have gained substantial traction. However, existing benchmarks primarily focus on whether agents can recall and apply user information, while overlooking whether such personalization is used appropriately. In fact, agents may overuse personal information, producing responses that feel forced, intrusive, or socially inappropriate to users. We refer to this issue as \emph{over-personalization}. In this work, we formalize over-personalization into three types: Irrelevance, Repetition, and Sycophancy, and introduce \textbf{OP-Bench} a benchmark of 1,700 verified instances constructed from long-horizon dialogue histories. Using \textbf{OP-Bench}, we evaluate multiple large language models and memory-augmentation methods, and find that over-personalization is widespread when memory is introduced. Further analysis reveals that agents tend to retrieve and over-attend to user memories even when unnecessary. To address this issue, we propose \textbf{Self-ReCheck}, a lightweight, model-agnostic memory filtering mechanism that mitigates over-personalization while preserving personalization performance. Our work takes an initial step toward more controllable and appropriate personalization in memory-augmented dialogue systems.

Joint Communication Scheduling and Resource Allocation for Distributed Edge Learning: Seamless Integration in Next-Generation Wireless Networks

Distributed edge learning (DL) is considered a cornerstone of intelligence enablers, since it allows for collaborative training without the necessity for local clients to share raw data with other parties, thereby preserving privacy and security. Integrating DL into the 6G networks requires a coexistence design with existing services such as high-bandwidth (HB) traffic like eMBB. Current designs in the literature mainly focus on communication round-wise designs that assume a rigid resource allocation throughout each communication round (CR). However, rigid resource allocation within a CR is a highly inefficient and inaccurate representation of the system's realistic behavior, especially when CR duration far exceeds the channel coherence time due to large model size or limited resources. This is due to the heterogeneous nature of the system, as clients inherently may need to access the network at different time instants. This work zooms into one arbitrary CR, and demonstrates the importance of considering a time-dependent design for sharing the resource pool with HB traffic. We first formulate a timeslot-wise optimization problem to minimize the consumed time by DL within the CR while constrained by a DL energy budget. Due to its intractability, a session-based optimization problem is formulated assuming a CR lasts less than a large-scale coherence time. Some scheduling properties of such multi-server joint communication scheduling and resource allocation framework have been established. An iterative algorithm has been designed to solve such non-convex and non-block-separable-constrained problems. Simulation results confirm the importance of the efficient and accurate integration design proposed in this work.

DMH-HARQ: Reliable and Open Latency-Constrained Wireless Transport Network

The extreme requirements for high reliability and low latency in the upcoming Sixth Generation (6G) wireless networks are challenging the design of multi-hop wireless transport networks. Inspired by the advent of the virtualization concept in the wireless networks design and openness paradigm as fostered by the Open-Radio Access Network (O-RAN) Alliance, we target a revolutionary resource allocation scheme to improve the overall transmission efficiency. In this paper, we investigate the problem of automatic repeat request (ARQ) in multi-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relaying in the finite blocklength (FBL) regime, and propose a dynamic scheme of multi-hop hybrid ARQ (HARQ), which maximizes the end-to-end (E2E) communication reliability in the wireless transport network. We also propose an integer dynamic programming (DP) algorithm to efficiently solve the optimal Dynamic Multi-Hop HARQ (DMH-HARQ) strategy. Constrained within a certain time frame to accomplish E2E transmission, our proposed approach is proven to outperform the conventional listening-based cooperative ARQ, as well as any static HARQ strategy, regarding the E2E reliability. It is applicable without dependence on special delay constraint, and is particularly competitive for long-distance transport network with many hops.

Joint Link Adaptation and Device Scheduling Approach for URLLC Industrial IoT Network: A DRL-based Method with Bayesian Optimization

In this article, we consider an industrial internet of things (IIoT) network supporting multi-device dynamic ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) while the channel state information (CSI) is imperfect. A joint link adaptation (LA) and device scheduling (including the order) design is provided, aiming at maximizing the total transmission rate under strict block error rate (BLER) constraints. In particular, a Bayesian optimization (BO) driven Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) method is proposed, which determines the device served order sequence and the corresponding modulation and coding scheme (MCS) adaptively based on the imperfect CSI. Note that the imperfection of CSI, error sample imbalance in URLLC networks, as well as the parameter sensitivity nature of the TD3 algorithm likely diminish the algorithm's convergence speed and reliability. To address such an issue, we proposed a BO based training mechanism for the convergence speed improvement, which provides a more reliable learning direction and sample selection method to track the imbalance sample problem. Via extensive simulations, we show that the proposed algorithm achieves faster convergence and higher sum-rate performance compared to existing solutions.

UAV-Enabled ISAC: Towards On-Demand Sensing Services and Enhanced Communication

In this paper, we investigate an integrated sensing-and-communication (ISAC) network enabled by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAV is supposed to fly along a periodical circular trajectory at a fixed height for ISAC service supply from the sky. We consider on-demand sensing services, where on-demand detection and on-demand localization requests may be activated at any time toward any position within the targeted serving region. While guaranteeing satisfactory accuracy for both on-demand sensing tasks, we aim at maximizing the minimum achievable throughput among all communication users, via joint optimizing the UAV trajectory and communication user scheduling. To address the complicated problem with infinite sensing constraints, we characterize the on-demand detection constraint as a restricted deployment area for UAV and the on-demand localization constraint as Cramer-Rao Bound (CRB) constraints over finite reference target points, based on which the original problem is simplified to more tractable one. Afterwards, particularly aiming to ensure no violations of CRB constraints, we propose a convex approximation for the reformulated problem, where tight approximation is guaranteed at given local solution. The construction strategy for convex problem approximation allows an efficient iterative algorithm with verified convergence to a superior suboptimal solution. At last, with simulations, we verified the applicability of our developed optimization scheme in strictly fulfilling the on-demand sensing constraints and the effectiveness of our proposed solution for simultaneously enhancing the communication throughput in UAV-enabled ISAC.

When Less Language is More: Language-Reasoning Disentanglement Makes LLMs Better Multilingual Reasoners

Multilingual reasoning remains a significant challenge for large language models (LLMs), with performance disproportionately favoring high-resource languages. Drawing inspiration from cognitive neuroscience, which suggests that human reasoning functions largely independently of language processing, we hypothesize that LLMs similarly encode reasoning and language as separable components that can be disentangled to enhance multilingual reasoning. To evaluate this, we perform a causal intervention by ablating language-specific representations at inference time. Experiments on 10 open-weight LLMs spanning 11 typologically diverse languages show that this language-specific ablation consistently boosts multilingual reasoning performance. Layer-wise analyses further confirm that language and reasoning representations can be effectively disentangled throughout the model, yielding improved multilingual reasoning capabilities, while preserving top-layer language features remains essential for maintaining linguistic fidelity. Compared to post-training methods such as supervised fine-tuning or reinforcement learning, our training-free language-reasoning disentanglement achieves comparable or superior results with minimal computational overhead. These findings shed light on the internal mechanisms underlying multilingual reasoning in LLMs and suggest a lightweight and interpretable strategy for improving cross-lingual generalization.

Teaching Language Models to Evolve with Users: Dynamic Profile Modeling for Personalized Alignment

Personalized alignment is essential for enabling large language models (LLMs) to engage effectively in user-centric dialogue. While recent prompt-based and offline optimization methods offer preliminary solutions, they fall short in cold-start scenarios and long-term personalization due to their inherently static and shallow designs. In this work, we introduce the Reinforcement Learning for Personalized Alignment (RLPA) framework, in which an LLM interacts with a simulated user model to iteratively infer and refine user profiles through dialogue. The training process is guided by a dual-level reward structure: the Profile Reward encourages accurate construction of user representations, while the Response Reward incentivizes generation of responses consistent with the inferred profile. We instantiate RLPA by fine-tuning Qwen-2.5-3B-Instruct, resulting in Qwen-RLPA, which achieves state-of-the-art performance in personalized dialogue. Empirical evaluations demonstrate that Qwen-RLPA consistently outperforms prompting and offline fine-tuning baselines, and even surpasses advanced commercial models such as Claude-3.5 and GPT-4o. Further analysis highlights Qwen-RLPA's robustness in reconciling conflicting user preferences, sustaining long-term personalization and delivering more efficient inference compared to recent reasoning-focused LLMs. These results emphasize the potential of dynamic profile inference as a more effective paradigm for building personalized dialogue systems.
