SPADE: An Input-Adaptive Sparse Attention Engine for Fast Video Diffusion Models Inference

Video diffusion transformers (vDiTs) generate high quality but pay quadratic self-attention cost, making inference prohibitive at video-token scales. The challenge is input-adaptive sparsity: selecting critical Q/K/V tokens with negligible overhead and executing them for end-to-end gains. We present SPADE, a training-free sparse-attention engine of three parts: (i) vDiT-SSR, a specification defining 3D blocking candidates and formalizing dynamic masks via Summarizer/Estimator expressions; (ii) runtime scheme generation using SICS and a head-wise policy; and (iii) an executor with low-overhead index search, flash block-sparse attention, and kernel grouping. Across Hunyuan-Video and Wan 2.1/2.2 for text-to-video and image-to-video generation, SPADE raises sparsity and speed while preserving quality, accelerating attention by 2.26x-3.40x and end-to-end inference by 1.49x-1.80x. Our code is open-sourced at https://github.com/6somehow/DAC-SPADE.

NOVA: Coordinated Test Selection and Bayes-Optimized Constrained Randomization for Accelerated Coverage Closure

Functional verification relies on large simulation-based regressions. Traditional test selection relies on static test features and overlooks actual coverage behavior, wasting substantial simulation time, while constrained random stimuli generation depends on manually crafted distributions that are difficult to design and often ineffective. We present NOVA, a framework that coordinates coverage-aware test selection with Bayes-optimized constrained randomization. NOVA extracts fine-grained coverage features to filter redundant tests and modifies the constraint solver to expose parameterized decision strategies whose settings are tuned via Bayesian optimization to maximize coverage growth. Across multiple RTL designs, NOVA achieves up to a 2.82$\times$ coverage convergence speedup without requiring human-crafted heuristics.

FedHQ: Hybrid Runtime Quantization for Federated Learning

Federated Learning (FL) is a decentralized model training approach that preserves data privacy but struggles with low efficiency. Quantization, a powerful training optimization technique, has been widely explored for integration into FL. However, many studies fail to consider the distinct performance attribution between particular quantization strategies, such as post-training quantization (PTQ) or quantization-aware training (QAT). As a result, existing FL quantization methods rely solely on either PTQ or QAT, optimizing for speed or accuracy while compromising the other. To efficiently accelerate FL and maintain distributed convergence accuracy across various FL settings, this paper proposes a hybrid quantitation approach combining PTQ and QAT for FL systems. We conduct case studies to validate the effectiveness of using hybrid quantization in FL. To solve the difficulty of modeling speed and accuracy caused by device and data heterogeneity, we propose a hardware-related analysis and data-distribution-related analysis to help identify the trade-off boundaries for strategy selection. Based on these, we proposed a novel framework named FedHQ to automatically adopt optimal hybrid strategy allocation for FL systems. Specifically, FedHQ develops a coarse-grained global initialization and fine-grained ML-based adjustment to ensure efficiency and robustness. Experiments show that FedHQ achieves up to 2.47x times training acceleration and up to 11.15% accuracy improvement and negligible extra overhead.

Optimizing the Weather Research and Forecasting Model with OpenMP Offload and Codee

Currently, the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) utilizes shared memory (OpenMP) and distributed memory (MPI) parallelisms. To take advantage of GPU resources on the Perlmutter supercomputer at NERSC, we port parts of the computationally expensive routines of the Fast Spectral Bin Microphysics (FSBM) microphysical scheme to NVIDIA GPUs using OpenMP device offloading directives. To facilitate this process, we explore a workflow for optimization which uses both runtime profilers and a static code inspection tool Codee to refactor the subroutine. We observe a 2.08x overall speedup for the CONUS-12km thunderstorm test case.

OriGen:Enhancing RTL Code Generation with Code-to-Code Augmentation and Self-Reflection

Recent studies have demonstrated the significant potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) in generating Register Transfer Level (RTL) code, with notable advancements showcased by commercial models such as GPT-4 and Claude3-Opus. However, these proprietary LLMs often raise concerns regarding privacy and security. While open-source LLMs offer solutions to these concerns, they typically underperform commercial models in RTL code generation tasks, primarily due to the scarcity of high-quality open-source RTL datasets. To address this challenge, we introduce OriGen , a fully open-source framework that incorporates self-reflection capabilities and a novel dataset augmentation methodology for generating high-quality, large-scale RTL code. Our approach employs a code-tocode augmentation technique to enhance the quality of open-source RTL code datasets. Furthermore, OriGen can rectify syntactic errors through a self-reflection process that leverages compiler feedback. Experimental results demonstrate that OriGen significantly outperforms other open-source alternatives in RTL code generation. It surpasses the previous best-performing open-source LLM by 12.8% and even exceeds GPT-4 Turbo in the pass@1 metric on the VerilogEval-Human benchmark. Moreover, OriGen exhibits superior capabilities in self-reflection and error correction, outperforming GPT-4 by 19.9% on a benchmark designed to evaluate self-reflection capabilities.

CONTRACTFIX: A Framework for Automatically Fixing Vulnerabilities in Smart Contracts

The increased adoption of smart contracts in many industries has made them an attractive target for cybercriminals, leading to millions of dollars in losses. Thus, deploying smart contracts with detected vulnerabilities (known to developers) are not acceptable, and fixing all the detected vulnerabilities is needed, which incurs high manual labor cost without effective tool support. To fill this need, in this paper, we propose ContractFix, a novel framework that automatically generates security patches for vulnerable smart contracts. ContractFix is a general framework that can incorporate different fix patterns for different types of vulnerabilities. Users can use it as a security fix-it tool that automatically applies patches and verifies the patched contracts before deploying the contracts. To address the unique challenges in fixing smart contract vulnerabilities, given an input smart contract, \tool conducts our proposed ensemble identification based on multiple static verification tools to identify vulnerabilities that are amenable for automatic fix. Then, ContractFix generates patches using template-based fix patterns and conducts program analysis (program dependency computation and pointer analysis) for smart contracts to accurately infer and populate the parameter values for the fix patterns. Finally, ContractFix performs static verification that guarantees the patched contract is free of vulnerabilities. Our evaluations on $144$ real vulnerable contracts demonstrate that \tool can successfully fix $94\%$ of the detected vulnerabilities ($565$ out of $601$) and preserve the expected behaviors of the smart contracts.

Solver-in-the-Loop: Learning from Differentiable Physics to Interact with Iterative PDE-Solvers

Finding accurate solutions to partial differential equations (PDEs) is a crucial task in all scientific and engineering disciplines. It has recently been shown that machine learning methods can improve the solution accuracy by correcting for effects not captured by the discretized PDE. We target the problem of reducing numerical errors of iterative PDE solvers and compare different learning approaches for finding complex correction functions. We find that previously used learning approaches are significantly outperformed by methods that integrate the solver into the training loop and thereby allow the model to interact with the PDE during training. This provides the model with realistic input distributions that take previous corrections into account, yielding improvements in accuracy with stable rollouts of several hundred recurrent evaluation steps and surpassing even tailored supervised variants. We highlight the performance of the differentiable physics networks for a wide variety of PDEs, from non-linear advection-diffusion systems to three-dimensional Navier-Stokes flows.

Mechanics-Aware Modeling of Cloth Appearance

Micro-appearance models have brought unprecedented fidelity and details to cloth rendering. Yet, these models neglect fabric mechanics: when a piece of cloth interacts with the environment, its yarn and fiber arrangement usually changes in response to external contact and tension forces. Since subtle changes of a fabric's microstructures can greatly affect its macroscopic appearance, mechanics-driven appearance variation of fabrics has been a phenomenon that remains to be captured. We introduce a mechanics-aware model that adapts the microstructures of cloth yarns in a physics-based manner. Our technique works on two distinct physical scales: using physics-based simulations of individual yarns, we capture the rearrangement of yarn-level structures in response to external forces. These yarn structures are further enriched to obtain appearance-driving fiber-level details. The cross-scale enrichment is made practical through a new parameter fitting algorithm for simulation, an augmented procedural yarn model coupled with a custom-design regression neural network. We train the network using a dataset generated by joint simulations at both the yarn and the fiber levels. Through several examples, we demonstrate that our model is capable of synthesizing photorealistic cloth appearance in a %dynamic and mechanically plausible way.
