HMPO: Hybrid Median-length Policy Optimization for Chain-of-Thought Compression

Large language models achieve remarkable performance via extended chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, yet this lengthy process incurs substantial inference overhead. Existing CoT compression methods struggle with inflexible manual length budgets, computationally expensive multi-stage training pipelines, and fragile scalability restricted to small models. We propose HMPO (Hybrid Median-length Policy Optimization), a cost-effective, single-stage reinforcement learning framework. HMPO efficiently compresses CoT via three synergistic components: an adaptive median-based budget derived from successful rollouts to eliminate manual tuning, a cosine-decay token reward for smooth length penalization, and a multiplicative reward formulation that substantially mitigates trivial reward hacking by strictly prioritizing answer correctness. Trained exclusively on mathematical data, HMPO generalizes seamlessly across math, code, science, and instruction-following tasks. Extensive experiments scaling from 9B to 122B parameters across dense and Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures demonstrate that HMPO achieves 19%--46% token compression with negligible accuracy degradation, all while drastically reducing training costs compared to existing multi-stage baselines.

Unified 5G-IoT Framework with CAMARA Gateways and SDN Federation

The convergence of 5G and IoT enables fully connected, intelligent environments, but it faces challenges from the fragmentation of public/private 5G networks and the heterogeneity of IoT networks. We propose a unified framework using CAMARA open gateways, which provide standardized, open APIs to expose network capabilities, reducing fragmentation and simplifying interoperability, supported by a federated SDN architecture that ensures scalable cross-domain control. We further demonstrate 5G-based remote control of KNX devices, extending industrial and building automation. These contributions lay the foundation for a secure, dynamic "network of networks" supporting next-generation applications.

DRIFT: Transferring Reasoning Priors for Efficient MLLM Fine-Tuning

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have made rapid progress, yet their reasoning ability often lags behind strong text-only LLMs. Bridging this gap typically requires large-scale multimodal reasoning data or reinforcement learning, incurring substantial cost. An appealing alternative is parameter-space model merging between reasoning-enhanced LLMs and MLLMs, but we show that naive merging is fragile: its effectiveness varies widely across model families and can significantly degrade performance (e.g., for Qwen-based MLLMs). We propose Directional Reasoning Injection for Fine-Tuning (DRIFT), a lightweight method that transfers reasoning knowledge in the gradient space while preserving multimodal alignment. DRIFT precomputes a reasoning prior from the parameter differences between text-only reasoning experts and multimodal models, and uses it to bias gradients during supervised fine-tuning. This design retains the simplicity of standard SFT pipelines while enabling efficient and stable reasoning transfer. Experiments on multimodal reasoning benchmarks, including MathVista and MathVerse, show that DRIFT consistently outperforms naive merging and standard SFT, and matches or surpasses training-intensive methods with substantially lower data and compute.

Field re-entrant superconductivity in Eu-doped infinite-layer nickelates

Intertwined superconducting and magnetic orders may give rise to exotic quantum phases, including field-induced and re-entrant superconductivity. However, such magnetism-enhanced superconductivity has remained elusive in superconductors with higher transition temperatures. While infinite-layer nickelates represent a new class of unconventional superconductors, the impact of rare-earth magnetism on superconducting properties remains largely unexplored. Here, we show that Eu-doped infinite-layer nickelate Sm$_{0.95-x}$Ca$_{0.05}$Eu$_x$NiO$_2$ exhibits a magnetic-field-induced re-entrant superconducting phase in the Eu-rich over-doped regime. Zero-resistance transport and high-field diamagnetic screening confirm the superconducting nature of this phase, which emerges after the initial suppression of low-field superconductivity and remains robust across a broad range of temperatures, fields and field orientations. In the same doping range, we observe nonlinear Hall transport and hysteretic magnetoresistance, indicating the unconventional nature of the re-entrant behaviour. While partially consistent with a compensation mechanism between the Eu-derived exchange field and the applied field, our data reveal pronounced deviations from this model at the highest-doping levels. Our findings establish infinite-layer nickelates as a fertile platform for exploring magnetically driven high-field superconductivity in strongly correlated oxides.

NL-CPS: Reinforcement Learning-Based Kubernetes Control Plane Placement in Multi-Region Clusters

The placement of Kubernetes control-plane nodes is critical to ensuring cluster reliability, scalability, and performance, and therefore represents a significant deployment challenge in heterogeneous, multi-region environments. Existing initialisation procedures typically select control-plane hosts arbitrarily, without considering node resource capacity or network topology, often leading to suboptimal cluster performance and reduced resilience. Given Kubernetes's status as the de facto standard for container orchestration, there is a need to rigorously evaluate how control-plane node placement influences the overall performance of the cluster operating across multiple regions. This paper advances this goal by introducing an intelligent methodology for selecting control-plane node placement across dynamically selected Cloud-Edge resources spanning multiple regions, as part of an automated orchestration system. More specifically, we propose a reinforcement learning framework based on neural contextual bandits that observes operational performance and learns optimal control-plane placement policies from infrastructure characteristics. Experimental evaluation across several geographically distributed regions and multiple cluster configurations demonstrates substantial performance improvements over several baseline approaches.

XModBench: Benchmarking Cross-Modal Capabilities and Consistency in Omni-Language Models

Omni-modal large language models (OLLMs) aim to unify audio, vision, and text understanding within a single framework. While existing benchmarks primarily evaluate general cross-modal question-answering ability, it remains unclear whether OLLMs achieve modality-invariant reasoning or exhibit modality-specific biases. We introduce XModBench, a large-scale tri-modal benchmark explicitly designed to measure cross-modal consistency. XModBench comprises 60,828 multiple-choice questions spanning five task families and systematically covers all six modality compositions in question-answer pairs, enabling fine-grained diagnosis of an OLLM's modality-invariant reasoning, modality disparity, and directional imbalance. Experiments show that even the strongest model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, (i) struggles with spatial and temporal reasoning, achieving less than 60% accuracy, (ii) reveals persistent modality disparities, with performance dropping substantially when the same semantic content is conveyed through audio rather than text, and (iii) shows systematic directional imbalance, exhibiting lower consistency when vision serves as context compared to text. These findings indicate that current OLLMs remain far from truly modality-invariant reasoning and position XModBench as a fundamental diagnostic tool for evaluating and improving cross-modal competence. All data and evaluation tools will be available at https://xingruiwang.github.io/projects/XModBench/.

Robust Flat Magnetoresistivity in D0$_3$-Fe$_3$Ga Driven by Chiral Anomaly

Topologically non-trivial nodes emerging from flat-band crossings not only enhance unconventional topological responses but also play a fundamental role in exploring correlation-driven topological physics. Here, we report the exceptionally robust chiral-anomaly-dominated transport in D0_3-Fe_3Ga. First, we observe a combination of positive and negative magnetoresistance, ideal planar longitudinal magnetoresistance (PLMR), and the planar Hall effect (PHE). Second, ultra-low-temperature resistivity exhibits pronounced non-Fermi-liquid (NFL) behavior, accompanied by the emergence of giant intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC), in excellent agreement with our DFT calculations, which confirm the existence of tilted Weyl points arising from crossings of nearly three-dimensional (3D) flat bands. Most remarkably, we detect an exceptionally robust flat magnetoresistance (flat-MR) that persists without decay up to 33 T. This set of phenomena provides strong evidence that the Fermi level intersects the flattened Weyl crossings, offering confirmation of a topological flat-band semimetal. D0_3-Fe_3Ga presents a promising magnetic platform for quantum device innovations.

Electrical Transport and Quantum Oscillations in the Metallic Spin Supersolid EuCo2Al9

The discovery of spin supersolid and its giant magnetocaloric effect has opened a new arena in frustrated quantum magnets and cutting-edge cryogenics. The intermetallic EuCo2Al9 (ECA), for the first time, extends this intriguing phase from Mott insulators to a highly conductive metal [1]. In this work, we systematically study the electrical transport properties of ECA, where itinerant electrons serve as a sensitive probe for the spin supersolid states. We observe anomalies both in the temperature-dependent resistivity and field-dependent magnetoresistance and Hall signals, which are attributed to response of electrons to the Eu2+ spins and their fluctuations. Moreover, Shubnikov-de Haas quantum oscillations at high magnetic field reveal pronounced band splitting in the spin polarized state. Our results reveal an intimate correspondence between electrical transport and magnetic transitions in ECA, deepening the understanding of this metallic spin supersolid.

VideoSeek: Long-Horizon Video Agent with Tool-Guided Seeking

Video agentic models have advanced challenging video-language tasks. However, most agentic approaches still heavily rely on greedy parsing over densely sampled video frames, resulting in high computational cost. We present VideoSeek, a long-horizon video agent that leverages video logic flow to actively seek answer-critical evidence instead of exhaustively parsing the full video. This insight allows the model to use far fewer frames while maintaining, or even improving, its video understanding capability. VideoSeek operates in a think-act-observe loop with a well-designed toolkit for collecting multi-granular video observations. This design enables query-aware exploration over accumulated observations and supports practical video understanding and reasoning. Experiments on four challenging video understanding and reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that VideoSeek achieves strong accuracy while using far fewer frames than prior video agents and standalone LMMs. Notably, VideoSeek achieves a 10.2 absolute points improvement on LVBench over its base model, GPT-5, while using 93% fewer frames. Further analysis highlights the significance of leveraging video logic flow, strong reasoning capability, and the complementary roles of toolkit design.

OneOcc: Semantic Occupancy Prediction for Legged Robots with a Single Panoramic Camera

Robust 3D semantic occupancy is crucial for legged/humanoid robots, yet most semantic scene completion (SSC) systems target wheeled platforms with forward-facing sensors. We present OneOcc, a vision-only panoramic SSC framework designed for gait-introduced body jitter and 360° continuity. OneOcc combines: (i) Dual-Projection fusion (DP-ER) to exploit the annular panorama and its equirectangular unfolding, preserving 360° continuity and grid alignment; (ii) Bi-Grid Voxelization (BGV) to reason in Cartesian and cylindrical-polar spaces, reducing discretization bias and sharpening free/occupied boundaries; (iii) a lightweight decoder with Hierarchical AMoE-3D for dynamic multi-scale fusion and better long-range/occlusion reasoning; and (iv) plug-and-play Gait Displacement Compensation (GDC) learning feature-level motion correction without extra sensors. We also release two panoramic occupancy benchmarks: QuadOcc (real quadruped, first-person 360°) and Human360Occ (H3O) (CARLA human-ego 360° with RGB, Depth, semantic occupancy; standardized within-/cross-city splits). OneOcc sets a new state of the art on QuadOcc, outperforming strong vision baselines and remaining competitive with classical LiDAR baselines; on H3O it gains +3.83 mIoU (within-city) and +8.08 (cross-city). Modules are lightweight, enabling deployable full-surround perception for legged/humanoid robots. Datasets and code will be publicly available at https://github.com/MasterHow/OneOcc.

NormCode Canvas: Making LLM Agentic Workflows Development Sustainable via Case-Based Reasoning

We present NormCode Canvas (v1.1.3), a deployed system realizing Case-Based Reasoning at two levels for multi-step LLM workflows. The foundation is NormCode, a semi-formal planning language whose compiler-verified scope rule ensures every execution checkpoint is a genuinely self-contained case -- eliminating the implicit shared state that makes retrieval unreliable and failure non-localizable in standard orchestration frameworks. Level 1 treats each checkpoint as a concrete case (suspended runtime); Fork implements retrieve-and-reuse, Value Override implements revision with automatic stale-boundary propagation. Level 2 treats each compiled plan as an abstract case; the compilation pipeline is itself a NormCode plan, enabling recursive case learning. Three structural properties follow: (C1) direct checkpoint inspection; (C2) pre-execution review via compiler-generated narrative; (C3) scope-bounded selective re-execution. Four deployed plans serve as structured evidence: PPT Generation produces presentation decks at ~40s per slide on commercial APIs; Code Assistant carries out multi-step software-engineering tasks spanning up to ten reasoning cycles; NC Compilations converts natural-language specifications into executable NormCode plans; and Canvas Assistant, when connected to an external AI code editor, automates plan debugging. Together these plans form a self-sustaining ecosystem in which plans produce, debug, and refine one another -- realizing cumulative case-based learning at system scale.

ICHOR: A Robust Representation Learning Approach for ASL CBF Maps with Self-Supervised Masked Autoencoders

Arterial spin labeling (ASL) perfusion MRI allows direct quantification of regional cerebral blood flow (CBF) without exogenous contrast, enabling noninvasive measurements that can be repeated without constraints imposed by contrast injection. ASL is increasingly acquired in research studies and clinical MRI protocols. Building on successes in structural imaging, recent efforts have implemented deep learning based methods to improve image quality, enable automated quality control, and derive robust quantitative and predictive biomarkers with ASL derived CBF. However, progress has been limited by variable image quality, substantial inter-site, vendor and protocol differences, and limited availability of labeled datasets needed to train models that generalize across cohorts. To address these challenges, we introduce ICHOR, a self supervised pre-training approach for ASL CBF maps that learns transferable representations using 3D masked autoencoders. ICHOR is pretrained via masked image modeling using a Vision Transformer backbone and can be used as a general-purpose encoder for downstream ASL tasks. For pre-training, we curated one of the largest ASL datasets to date, comprising 11,405 ASL CBF scans from 14 studies spanning multiple sites and acquisition protocols. We evaluated the pre-trained ICHOR encoder on three downstream diagnostic classification tasks and one ASL CBF map quality prediction regression task. Across all evaluations, ICHOR outperformed existing neuroimaging self-supervised pre-training methods adapted to ASL. Pre-trained weights and code will be made publicly available.

Reliable Use of Lemmas via Eligibility Reasoning and Section$-$Aware Reinforcement Learning

Recent large language models (LLMs) perform strongly on mathematical benchmarks yet often misapply lemmas, importing conclusions without validating assumptions. We formalize lemma$-$judging as a structured prediction task: given a statement and a candidate lemma, the model must output a precondition check and a conclusion$-$utility check, from which a usefulness decision is derived. We present RULES, which encodes this specification via a two$-$section output and trains with reinforcement learning plus section$-$aware loss masking to assign penalty to the section responsible for errors. Training and evaluation draw on diverse natural language and formal proof corpora; robustness is assessed with a held$-$out perturbation suite; and end$-$to$-$end evaluation spans competition$-$style, perturbation$-$aligned, and theorem$-$based problems across various LLMs. Results show consistent in$-$domain gains over both a vanilla model and a single$-$label RL baseline, larger improvements on applicability$-$breaking perturbations, and parity or modest gains on end$-$to$-$end tasks; ablations indicate that the two$-$section outputs and section$-$aware reinforcement are both necessary for robustness.

CD4LM: Consistency Distillation and aDaptive Decoding for Diffusion Language Models

Autoregressive large language models achieve strong results on many benchmarks, but decoding remains fundamentally latency-limited by sequential dependence on previously generated tokens. Diffusion language models (DLMs) promise parallel generation but suffer from a fundamental static-to-dynamic misalignment: Training optimizes local transitions under fixed schedules, whereas efficient inference requires adaptive "long-jump" refinements through unseen states. Our goal is to enable highly parallel decoding for DLMs with low number of function evaluations while preserving generation quality. To achieve this, we propose CD4LM, a framework that decouples training from inference via Discrete-Space Consistency Distillation (DSCD) and Confidence-Adaptive Decoding (CAD). Unlike standard objectives, DSCD trains a student to be trajectory-invariant, mapping diverse noisy states directly to the clean distribution. This intrinsic robustness enables CAD to dynamically allocate compute resources based on token confidence, aggressively skipping steps without the quality collapse typical of heuristic acceleration. On GSM8K, CD4LM matches the LLaDA baseline with a 5.18x wall-clock speedup; across code and math benchmarks, it strictly dominates the accuracy-efficiency Pareto frontier, achieving a 3.62x mean speedup while improving average accuracy. P2U-SLAM: A Monocular Wide-FoV SLAM System Based on Point Uncertainty and Pose Uncertainty

This paper presents P2U-SLAM, a visual Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM) system with a wide Field of View (FoV) camera, which utilizes pose uncertainty and point uncertainty. While the wide FoV enables considerable repetitive observations of historical map points for matching cross-view features, the data properties of the historical map points and the poses of historical keyframes have changed during the optimization process. The neglect of data property changes results in the lack of partial information matrices in optimization, increasing the risk of long-term positioning performance degradation. The purpose of our research is to mitigate the risks posed by wide-FoV visual input to the SLAM system. Based on the conditional probability model, this work reveals the definite impacts of the above data properties changes on the optimization process, concretizes these impacts as point uncertainty and pose uncertainty, and gives their specific mathematical form. P2U-SLAM embeds point uncertainty into the tracking module and pose uncertainty into the local mapping module respectively, and updates these uncertainties after each optimization operation including local mapping, map merging, and loop closing. We present an exhaustive evaluation on 27 sequences from two popular public datasets with wide-FoV visual input. P2U-SLAM shows excellent performance compared with other state-of-the-art methods. The source code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/BambValley/P2U-SLAM.

Conditional Text-to-Image Generation with Reference Guidance

Text-to-image diffusion models have demonstrated tremendous success in synthesizing visually stunning images given textual instructions. Despite remarkable progress in creating high-fidelity visuals, text-to-image models can still struggle with precisely rendering subjects, such as text spelling. To address this challenge, this paper explores using additional conditions of an image that provides visual guidance of the particular subjects for diffusion models to generate. In addition, this reference condition empowers the model to be conditioned in ways that the vocabularies of the text tokenizer cannot adequately represent, and further extends the model's generalization to novel capabilities such as generating non-English text spellings. We develop several small-scale expert plugins that efficiently endow a Stable Diffusion model with the capability to take different references. Each plugin is trained with auxiliary networks and loss functions customized for applications such as English scene-text generation, multi-lingual scene-text generation, and logo-image generation. Our expert plugins demonstrate superior results than the existing methods on all tasks, each containing only 28.55M trainable parameters.

Perfect continuous-variable quantum microcombs

Quantum microcombs generated in high-Q microresonators provide compact, multiplexed sources of entangled modes for continuous-variable (CV) quantum information processing. While deterministic generation of CV states via Kerr-induced two-mode squeezing has been demonstrated, achieving spectrally uniform squeezing remains challenging because of asymmetry and anomalies in the dispersion profile. Here we overcome these limitations by combining a microresonator with an engineered mode spectrum and optimized pump conditions. We realize a CV quantum microcomb comprising 14 independent two-mode squeezed states, each exhibiting more than 4 dB of raw squeezing (up to 4.3 dB) across a 0.7 THz bandwidth. This uniform, high-performance quantum resource represents a key step toward scalable, integrated CV quantum technologies operating beyond classical limits.

Sleep effects on brain, cognition, and mental health during adolescence are mediated by the glymphatic system

Background: Adolescence is a critical period of brain maturation and heightened vulnerability to cognitive and mental health disorders. Sleep plays a vital role in neurodevelopment, yet the mechanisms linking insufficient sleep to adverse brain and behavioral outcomes remain unclear. The glymphatic system (GS), a brain-wide clearance pathway, may provide a key mechanistic link. Methods: Participants from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study (n =6,800; age ~ 11 years) were categorized into sleep-sufficient (>=9 h/night) and sleep-insufficient (<9 h/night) groups. Linear models tested associations among sleep, PVS burden, brain volumes, and behavioral outcomes. Mediation analyses evaluated whether PVS burden explained sleep-related effects. Results: Adolescents with insufficient sleep exhibited significantly greater PVS burden, reduced cortical, subcortical, and white matter volumes, poorer cognitive performance across multiple domains (largest effect in crystallized intelligence), and elevated psychopathology (largest effect in general problems). Sleep duration and quality were strongly associated with PVS burden. Mediation analyses revealed that PVS burden partially mediated sleep effects on cognition and mental health, with indirect proportions up to 10.9%. Sequential models suggested a pathway from sleep -> PVS -> brain volume -> behavior as the most plausible route. Conclusions: Insufficient sleep during adolescence is linked to glymphatic dysfunction, reflected by increased PVS burden, which partially accounts for adverse effects on brain structure, cognition, and mental health. These findings highlight the GS as a potential mechanistic pathway and imaging biomarker, underscoring the importance of promoting adequate sleep to support neurodevelopment and mental health.
