Non-standard quantum (1+1) Poincaré group: a $T$--matrix approach

The Hopf algebra dual form for the non--standard uniparametric deformation of the (1+1) Poincaré algebra $iso(1,1)$ is deduced. In this framework, the quantum coordinates that generate $Fun_w(ISO(1,1))$ define an infinite dimensional Lie algebra. A change in the basis of the dual form is obtained in order to compare this deformation to the standard one. Finally, a non--standard quantum Heisenberg group acting on a quantum Galilean plane is obtained.

All bicovariant differential calculi on Glq(3,C) and SLq(3,C)

All bicovariant first order differential calculi on the quantum group GLq(3,C) are determined. There are two distinct one-parameter families of calculi. In terms of a suitable basis of 1-forms the commutation relations can be expressed with the help of the R-matrix of GLq(3,C). Some calculi induce bicovariant differential calculi on SLq(3,C) and on real forms of GLq(3,C). For generic deformation parameter q there are six calculi on SLq(3,C), on SUq(3) there are only two. The classical limit q-->1 of bicovariant calculi on SLq(3,C) is not the ordinary calculus on SL(3,C). One obtains a deformation of it which involves the Cartan-Killing metric.

The quantum superalgebra $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$: deformed para-Bose operators and root of unity representations

We recall the relation between the Lie superalgebra $osp(1/2n)$ and para-Bose operators. The quantum superalgebra $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$, defined as usual in terms of its Chevalley generators, is shown to be isomorphic to an associative algebra generated by so-called pre-oscillator operators satisfying a number of relations. From these relations, and the analogue with the non-deformed case, one can interpret these pre-oscillator operators as deformed para-Bose operators. Some consequences for $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$ (Cartan-Weyl basis, Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt basis) and its Hopf subalgebra $U_q[gl(n)]$ are pointed out. Finally, using a realization in terms of ``$q$-commuting'' $q$-bosons, we construct an irreducible finite-dimensional unitary Fock representation of $U_q[osp(1/2n)]$ and its decomposition in terms of $U_q[gl(n)]$ representations when $q$ is a root of unity.

Noncommutative Geometry of Finite Groups

A finite set can be supplied with a group structure which can then be used to select (classes of) differential calculi on it via the notions of left-, right- and bicovariance. A corresponding framework has been developed by Woronowicz, more generally for Hopf algebras including quantum groups. A differential calculus is regarded as the most basic structure needed for the introduction of further geometric notions like linear connections and, moreover, for the formulation of field theories and dynamics on finite sets. Associated with each bicovariant first order differential calculus on a finite group is a braid operator which plays an important role for the construction of distinguished geometric structures. For a covariant calculus, there are notions of invariance for linear connections and tensors. All these concepts are explored for finite groups and illustrated with examples. Some results are formulated more generally for arbitrary associative (Hopf) algebras. In particular, the problem of extension of a connection on a bimodule (over an associative algebra) to tensor products is investigated, leading to the class of `extensible connections'. It is shown that invariance properties of an extensible connection on a bimodule over a Hopf algebra are carried over to the extension. Furthermore, an invariance property of a connection is also shared by a `dual connection' which exists on the dual bimodule (as defined in this work).

Geometry of Quantum Group Twists, Multidimensional Jackson Calculus and Regularization

We show that R-matricies of all simple quantum groups have the properties which permit to present quantum group twists as transitions to other coordinate frames on quantum spaces. This implies physical equivalence of field theories invariant with respect to q-groups (considered as q-deformed space-time groups of transformations) connected with each other by the twists. Taking into account this freedom we study quantum spaces of the special type: with commuting coordinates but with q-deformed differential calculus and construct $GL_r(N)$ invariant multidimensional Jackson derivatives. We consider a particle and field theory on a two-dimensional q-space of this kind and come to the conclusion that only one (time-like) coordinate proved to be discretized.

Separation of variables for A2 Ruijsenaars model and new integral representation for A2 Macdonald polynomials

Using the Baker-Akhiezer function technique we construct a separation of variables for the classical trigonometric 3-particle Ruijsenaars model (relativistic generalization of Calogero-Moser-Sutherland model). In the quantum case, an integral operator M is constructed from the Askey-Wilson contour integral. The operator M transforms the eigenfunctions of the commuting Hamiltonians (Macdonald polynomials for the root sytem A2) into the factorized form S(y1)S(y2) where S(y) is a Laurent polynomial of one variable expressed in terms of the 3phi2(y) basic hypergeometric series. The inversion of M produces a new integral representation for the A2 Macdonald polynomials. We also present some results and conjectures for general n-particle case.

Quantum E(2) groups and Lie bialgebra structures

Lie bialgebra structures on $e(2)$ are classified. For two Lie bialgebra structures which are not coboundaries (i.e. which are not determined by a classical $r$-matrix) we solve the cocycle condition, find the Lie-Poisson brackets and obtain quantum group relations. There is one to one correspondence between Lie bialgebra structures on $e(2)$ and possible quantum deformations of $U(e(2))$ and $E(2)$.

On Nonlinear Angular Momentum Theories, Their Representations and Associated Hopf Structures

Nonlinear $sl(2)$ algebras subtending generalized angular momentum theories are studied in terms of undeformed generators and bases. We construct their unitary irreducible representations in such a general context. The linear $sl(2)$-case as well as its $q$-deformation are easily recovered as specific examples. Two other physically interesting applications corresponding to the so-called Higgs and quadratic algebras are also considered. We show that these two nonlinear algebras can be equipped with a Hopf structure.

Universal $R$-matrix for non-standard quantum $sl(2,\R)$

A universal $R$-matrix for the non-standard (Jordanian) quantum deformation of $sl(2,\R)$ is presented. A family of solutions of the quantum Yang--Baxter equation is obtained from some finite dimensional representations of this Lie bialgebra quantization of $sl(2,\R)$.

Equivalence of $q$-bosons using the exponential phase operator

Various forms of the $q$-boson are explained and their hidden symmetry revealed by transformations using the exponential phase operator. Both the one-component and the multicomponent $q$-bosons are discussed. As a byproduct, we obtain a new boson algebra having a shifted vacuum structure and define a global operatal $U(1)$ gauge transformation.

Graded Contractions of Affine Kac-Moody Algebras

The method of graded contractions, based on the preservation of the automorphisms of finite order, is applied to the affine Kac-Moody algebras and their representations, to yield a new class of infinite dimensional Lie algebras and representations. After the introduction of the horizontal and vertical gradings, and the algorithm to find the horizontal toroidal gradings, I discuss some general properties of the graded contractions, and compare them with the Inönü-Wigner contractions. The example of $\hat A_2$ is discussed in detail.

Classical Poisson structures and r-matrices from constrained flows

We construct the classical Poisson structure and $r$-matrix for some finite dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems obtained by constraining the flows of soliton equations in a certain way. This approach allows one to produce new kinds of classical, dynamical Yang-Baxter structures. To illustrate the method we present the $r$-matrices associated with the constrained flows of the Kaup-Newell, KdV, AKNS, WKI and TG hierarchies, all generated by a 2-dimensional eigenvalue problem. Some of the obtained $r$-matrices depend only on the spectral parameters, but others depend also on the dynamical variables. For consistency they have to obey a classical Yang-Baxter-type equation, possibly with dynamical extra terms.

Quantum Lie algebras associated to $U_q(gl_n)$ and $U_q(sl_n)$

Quantum Lie algebras $\qlie{g}$ are non-associative algebras which are embedded into the quantized enveloping algebras $U_q(g)$ of Drinfeld and Jimbo in the same way as ordinary Lie algebras are embedded into their enveloping algebras. The quantum Lie product on $\qlie{g}$ is induced by the quantum adjoint action of $U_q(g)$. We construct the quantum Lie algebras associated to $U_q(gl_n)$ and $U_q(sl_n)$. We determine the structure constants and the quantum root systems, which are now functions of the quantum parameter $q$. They exhibit an interesting duality symmetry under $q\leftrightarrow 1/q$.

Braid group approach to the derivation of universal Ř matrices

A new method for deriving universal Ř matrices from braid group representation is discussed. In this case, universal Ř operators can be defined and expressed in terms of products of braid group generators. The advantage of this method is that matrix elements of Ř are rank independent, and leaves multiplicity problem concerning coproducts of the corresponding quantum groups untouched. As examples, Ř matrix elements of $[1]\times [1]$, $[2]\times [2]$, $[1^{2}]\times [1^{2}]$, and $[21]\times [21]$ with multiplicity two for $A_{n}$, and $[1]\times [1]$ for $B_{n}$, $C_{n}$, and $D_{n}$ type quantum groups, which are related to Hecke algebra and Birman-Wenzl algebra, respectively, are derived by using this method.
