Tetrahedron Reflection Equation

Reflection equation for the scattering of lines moving in half-plane is obtained. The corresponding geometric picture is related with configurations of half-planes touching the boundary plane in 2+1 dimensions. This equation can be obtained as an additional to the tetrahedron equation consistency condition for a modified Zamolodchikov algebra.

Fusion rules for Quantum Transfer Matrices as a Dynamical System on Grassmann Manifolds

We show that the set of transfer matrices of an arbitrary fusion type for an integrable quantum model obey these bilinear functional relations, which are identified with an integrable dynamical system on a Grassmann manifold (higher Hirota equation). The bilinear relations were previously known for a particular class of transfer matrices corresponding to rectangular Young diagrams. We extend this result for general Young diagrams. A general solution of the bilinear equations is presented.

N=2 Super-Conformal Filed Theory on the Basis of osp(2|2)

Using a unified and systematic scheme, the free field realization of irreducible representations of osp(2|2) is constructed. By using these realization, the correlation functions of N=2 super-conformal model based on osp(2|2) symmetry and free field representation of ${\hat{osp(2|2)}}$ generators are calculated. Free field representation of currents are used to determine the stress-energy tensor and the central charge of the model.

Drinfeld twist for quantum $su(2)$ in the adjoint representation

We give a detailed description of the adjoint representation of Drinfeld's twist element, as well as of its coproduct, for $su_{q}(2)$. We also discuss, as applications, the computation of the universal R-matrix in this representation and the problem of symmetrization of identical-particle states with quantum $su(2)$ symmetry.

A-D-E Polynomial and Rogers--Ramanujan Identities

We conjecture polynomial identities which imply Rogers--Ramanujan type identities for branching functions associated with the cosets $({\cal G}^{(1)})_{\ell-1}\otimes ({\cal G}^{(1)})_{1} / ({\cal G}^{(1)})_{\ell}$, with ${\cal G}$=A$_{n-1}$ \mbox{$(\ell\geq 2)$}, D$_{n-1}$ $(\ell\geq 2)$, E$_{6,7,8}$ $(\ell=2)$. In support of our conjectures we establish the correct behaviour under level-rank duality for $\cal G$=A$_{n-1}$ and show that the A-D-E Rogers--Ramanujan identities have the expected $q\to 1^{-}$ asymptotics in terms of dilogarithm identities. Possible generalizations to arbitrary cosets are also discussed briefly.

Multistring Vertices and Hyperbolic Kac Moody Algebras

Multistring vertices and the overlap identities which they satisfy are exploited to understand properties of hyperbolic Kac Moody algebras, and $E_{10}$ in particular. Since any such algebra can be embedded in the larger Lie algebra of physical states of an associated completely compactified subcritical bosonic string, one can in principle determine the root spaces by analyzing which (positive norm) physical states decouple from the $N$-string vertex. Consequently, the Lie algebra of physical states decomposes into a direct sum of the hyperbolic algebra and the space of decoupled states. Both these spaces contain transversal and longitudinal states. Longitudinal decoupling holds generally, and may also be valid for uncompactified strings, with possible consequences for Liouville theory; the identification of the decoupled states simply amounts to finding the zeroes of certain ``decoupling polynomials''. This is not the case for transversal decoupling, which crucially depends on special properties of the root lattice, as we explicitly demonstrate for a non-trivial root space of $E_{10}$. Because the $N$-vertices of the compactified string contain the complete information about decoupling, all the properties of the hyperbolic algebra are encoded into them. In view of the integer grading of hyperbolic algebras such as $E_{10}$ by the level, these algebras can be interpreted as interacting strings moving on the respective group manifolds associated with the underlying finite-dimensional Lie algebras.

q-Gauge Theory

We examine some issues that arise in the q-deformation of a gauge theory. If the deformation is carried out by replacing the equal time commutators of free fields by the corresponding q-commutators, the resulting propagators are not very much different from those of the undeformed theory as long as one is dealing with weak fields; but the theory still violates causality. If one postulates a q-deformed S matrix, the corresponding q-causal commutator has 2 poles of different strength and the result again amounts to a deformation of the Lorentz group.

Vector Fields on Quantum Groups

We construct the space of vector fields on a generic quantum group. Its elements are products of elements of the quantum group itself with left invariant vector fields. We study the duality between vector fields and 1-forms and generalize the construction to tensor fields. A Lie derivative along any (also non left invariant) vector field is proposed and a puzzling ambiguity in its definition discussed. These results hold for a generic Hopf algebra.

Unified view of multimode algebras with Fock-like representations

A unified view of general multimode oscillator algebras with Fock-like representations is presented. It extends a previous analysis of the single-mode oscillator algebras. The expansion of the $a_ia_j^{\dagger}$ operators is extended to include all normally ordered terms in creation and annihilation operators and we analyze their action on Fock-like states. We restrict ourselves to the algebras compatible with number operators. The connection between these algebras and generalized statistics is analyzed. We demonstrate our approach by considering the algebras obtainable from the generalized Jordan-Wigner transformation, the para-Bose and para-Fermi algebras, the Govorkov "paraquantization" algebra and generalized quon algebra.

Bicovariant Calculus on Twisted ISO(N), Quantum Poincare' Group and Quantum Minkowski Space

A bicovariant calculus on the twisted inhomogeneous multiparametric $q$-groups of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ type, and on the corresponding quantum planes, is found by means of a projection from the bicovariant calculus on $B_{n+1}$, $C_{n+1}$, $D_{n+1}$. In particular we obtain the bicovariant calculus on a dilatation-free $q$-Poincaré group $ISO_q (3,1)$, and on the corresponding quantum Minkowski space. The classical limit of the $B_n,C_n,D_n$ bicovariant calculus is discussed in detail.

A Quantum Gauge Group Approach to the 2D SU(n) WZNW Model

The canonical quantization of the WZNW model provides a complete set of exchange relations in the enlarged chiral state spaces that include the Gauss components of the monodromy matrices. Regarded as new dynamical variables, the elements of the latter cannot be identified -- they satisfy different exchange relations. Accordingly, the two dimensional theory expressed in terms of the left and right movers' fields does not automatically respect monodromy invariance. Continuing our recent analysis of the problem by gauge theory methods we conclude that physical states (on which the two dimensional field acts as a single valued operator) are invariant under the (permuted) coproduct of the left and right $U_q(sl(n))$. They satisfy additional constraints fully described for n=2.

Quantum Orthogonal Cayley-Klein Groups in Cartesian Basis

The similarity transformations of quantum orthogonal groups are developed and FRT theory is reformulated to the Cartesian basis. The quantum orthogonal Cayley-Klein groups are introduced as the algebra functions over an associative algebra with the nilpotent generators. The quantum orthogonal Cayley-Klein algebras are obtained as the dual objects to the corresponding quantum groups.

Irreducible representations of deformed oscillator algebra and q-special functions

Different generators of a deformed oscillator algebra give rise to one-parameter families of $q$-exponential functions and $q$-Hermite polynomials related by generating functions. Connections of the Stieltjes and Hamburger classical moment problems with the corresponding resolution of unity for the $q$-coherent states and with 'coordinate' operators - Jacobi matrices, are also pointed out.

The Quantum Symplectic Cayley-Klein Groups

The contraction method applied to the construction of the nonsemisimple quantum symplectic Cayley-Klein groups $ Fun(Sp_q(n;j)) $. This groups has been realised as Hopf algebra of the noncommutative functions over the algebra with nilpotent generators. The dual quantum algebras $ sp_q(n;j) $ are constructed.
