ReLATE: Reliability-Guided Evidence Fusion for Robust UAV--Satellite cross-view Geo-Localization

Abstract

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-satellite cross-view geo-localization matches UAV images against satellite imagery and has achieved impressive accuracy on clean (non-degraded) image benchmarks. In real-world flights, however, UAV observations are frequently affected by adverse weather, illumination changes, platform motion, sensor noise, and compression, while the robustness of existing methods under such degradations remains largely unexamined. In this paper, we present UAVSat-Deg, a large-scale robustness benchmark for degraded UAV-satellite geo-localization, comprising University-1652-Deg and SUES-200-Deg. UAVSat-Deg covers 27 corruption types, including 19 core and 8 compound corruptions, at three severity levels, supports bidirectional drone-to-satellite and satellite-to-drone retrieval as well as multi-height UAV acquisition, and contains more than 11.7 million pre-generated corrupted test images. Benchmarking representative methods under this protocol reveals substantial robustness gaps, particularly under severe and compound corruptions. To address this problem, we propose ReLATE, a Reliable Evidence Learning framework with Adaptive Token Evidence Regulation, which realizes reliability-adaptive feature fusion during descriptor construction. ReLATE estimates a structure-smoothed reliability field over visual tokens, aggregates trustworthy local evidence, and adaptively integrates it into query-derived representations; the regulated query representations are then combined with the CLS-token and GeM-pooled branches to form the final cross-view descriptor. Across both test sets and retrieval directions, ReLATE achieves the best average corrupted-test performance among the compared methods while maintaining competitive accuracy on clean images. The code and dataset will be available at https://github.com/JHC626/ReLATE.

A survey of AI-generated voices and their detection

The ability of artificial intelligence (AI) models to generate highly realistic human voices has advanced rapidly. These technologies power accessibility tools, virtual assistants and creative applications, but they also enable harmful uses, including impersonation, fraud and disinformation. Recent incidents of voice cloning scams targeting businesses and political leaders underscore the urgent need for robust safeguards. Unlike image and video deepfakes, the detection of synthetic voices poses unique challenges due to the complexity of phonetics, prosody and auditory perception. This survey offers a comprehensive overview of AI voice generation and detection methods, encompassing both the technical foundations and the latest state-of-the-art advances. This study also identifies key open challenges, benchmark resources and future directions to make this survey useful for future researchers.

When Saying No Makes Better Videos: Designing Dual Gatekeeping for Pedagogically Grounded AI Content Creation

To prevent the adoption of aesthetically polished but pedagogically flawed AI content, we study a video authoring pipeline featuring two layers of structured refusal. The first layer empowers educators to iteratively reshape AI scripts based on multimedia learning theory, while the second employs automated metrics to flag violations in instructional coherence and narrative-visual synchronization. While neither layer is exhaustive, their synergy ensures that principled resistance--the act of deferring AI output until it meets rigorous standards--becomes a catalyst for higher quality. Evaluation combining a study with 23 educators across 3 topics and automated metrics across 7 topics drawn from established science and philosophy curricula shows that both layers independently improve the same instructional dimensions, suggesting that thoughtful resistance and generative AI are not opposites but partners.

Measuring Similarity between Artistic and AI Generated Images using Siamese Neural Networks

AI-generated art has sparked debates around potential plagiarism, as these images may closely resemble existing artworks. This research quantifies the similarity between original pieces and AI-generated counterparts, particularly those produced by the Stable Diffusion XL Refiner 1.0. We use Siamese Networks with frozen CLIP encoders and cosine similarity optimized through triplet loss. A dataset of paired original and generated images was built using image-to-image generation and custom prompts, enriched with semantic descriptors and BLIP-2 captions. Prior studies report up to 81\% style replication and 90\% visual similarity. Our results show high discriminative performance: training accuracy reached 99.9\%, and the best model configuration achieved 99.4\% test accuracy with strong inter-class separation ($δμ$ = 0.677), demonstrating the effectiveness of our semantic-visual embeddings.
