Nonextensive analysis on the local structure entropy of complex networks

The local structure entropy is a new method which is proposed to identify the influential nodes in the complex networks. In this paper a new form of the local structure entropy of the complex networks is proposed based on the Tsallis entropy. The value of the entropic index $q$ will influence the property of the local structure entropy. When the value of $q$ is equal to 0, the nonextensive local structure entropy is degenerated to a new form of the degree centrality. When the value of $q$ is equal to 1, the nonextensive local structure entropy is degenerated to the existing form of the local structure entropy. We also have find a nonextensive threshold value in the nonextensive local structure entropy. When the value of $q$ is bigger than the nonextensive threshold value, change the value of $q$ will has no influence on the property of the local structure entropy, and different complex networks have different nonextensive threshold value. The results in this paper show that the new nonextensive local structure entropy is a generalised of the local structure entropy. It is more reasonable and useful than the existing one.

Tsallis entropy of complex networks

How complex of the complex networks has attracted many researchers to explore it. The entropy is an useful method to describe the degree of the $complex$ of the complex networks. In this paper, a new method which is based on the Tsallis entropy is proposed to describe the $complex$ of the complex networks. The results in this paper show that the complex of the complex networks not only decided by the structure property of the complex networks, but also influenced by the relationship between each nodes. In other word, which kinds of nodes are chosen as the main part of the complex networks will influence the value of the entropy of the complex networks. The value of q in the Tsallis entropy of the complex networks is used to decided which kinds of nodes will be chosen as the main part in the complex networks. The proposed Tsallis entropy of the complex networks is a generalised method to describe the property of the complex networks.

Identification of influential nodes in network of networks

The network of networks(NON) research is focused on studying the properties of n interdependent networks which is ubiquitous in the real world. Identifying the influential nodes in the network of networks is theoretical and practical significance. However, it is hard to describe the structure property of the NON based on traditional methods. In this paper, a new method is proposed to identify the influential nodes in the network of networks base on the evidence theory. The proposed method can fuse different kinds of relationship between the network components to constructed a comprehensive similarity network. The nodes which have a big value of similarity are the influential nodes in the NON. The experiment results illustrate that the proposed method is reasonable and significant

Local structure entropy of complex networks

Identifying influential nodes in the complex networks is of theoretical and practical significance. There are many methods are proposed to identify the influential nodes in the complex networks. In this paper, a local structure entropy which is based on the degree centrality and the statistical mechanics is proposed to identifying the influential nodes in the complex network. In the definition of the local structure entropy, each node has a local network, the local structure entropy of each node is equal to the structure entropy of the local network. The main idea in the local structure entropy is try to use the influence of the local network to replace the node's influence on the whole network. The influential nodes which are identified by the local structure entropy are the intermediate nodes in the network. The intermediate nodes which connect those nodes with a big value of degree. We use the $Susceptible-Infective$ (SI) model to evaluate the performance of the influential nodes which are identified by the local structure entropy. In the SI model the nodes use as the source of infection. According to the SI model, the bigger the percentage of the infective nodes in the network the important the node to the whole networks. The simulation on four real networks show that the proposed method is efficacious and rationality to identify the influential nodes in the complex networks.

A new structure entropy of complex networks based on Tsallis nonextensive statistical mechanics

The structure entropy is one of the most important parameters to describe the structure property of the complex networks. Most of the existing struc- ture entropies are based on the degree or the betweenness centrality. In order to describe the structure property of the complex networks more reasonably, a new structure entropy of the complex networks based on the Tsallis nonextensive statistical mechanics is proposed in this paper. The influence of the degree and the betweenness centrality on the structure property is combined in the proposed structure entropy. Compared with the existing structure entropy, the proposed structure entropy is more reasonable to describe the structure property of the complex networks in some situations.

The factorization and simulation for fundamental solution of Cauchy problem

In this paper, we demonstrate the simulation of fundamental solution for the parabolic equation by the relationship with Ito diffusion. The factorization and Monte Carlo methods of the fundamental solution are considered. With the fact that the fundamental solution can be written as a product of the transition function and the expectation of a bridge path integral, we give an novel and efficient algorithm to simulate the fundamental solution by importance sampling method, especially for dealing with the multi-dimensional case.

A betweenness structure entropy of complex networks

The structure entropy is an important index to illuminate the structure property of the complex network. Most of the existing structure entropies are based on the degree distribution of the complex network. But the structure entropy based on the degree can not illustrate the structure property of the weighted networks. In order to study the structure property of the weighted networks, a new structure entropy of the complex networks based on the betweenness is proposed in this paper. Comparing with the existing structure entropy, the proposed method is more reasonable to describe the structure property of the complex weighted networks.

Optimality of Graphlet Screening in High Dimensional Variable Selection

Consider a linear regression model where the design matrix X has n rows and p columns. We assume (a) p is much large than n, (b) the coefficient vector beta is sparse in the sense that only a small fraction of its coordinates is nonzero, and (c) the Gram matrix G = X'X is sparse in the sense that each row has relatively few large coordinates (diagonals of G are normalized to 1). The sparsity in G naturally induces the sparsity of the so-called graph of strong dependence (GOSD). We find an interesting interplay between the signal sparsity and the graph sparsity, which ensures that in a broad context, the set of true signals decompose into many different small-size components of GOSD, where different components are disconnected. We propose Graphlet Screening (GS) as a new approach to variable selection, which is a two-stage Screen and Clean method. The key methodological innovation of GS is to use GOSD to guide both the screening and cleaning. Compared to m-variate brute-forth screening that has a computational cost of p^m, the GS only has a computational cost of p (up to some multi-log(p) factors) in screening. We measure the performance of any variable selection procedure by the minimax Hamming distance. We show that in a very broad class of situations, GS achieves the optimal rate of convergence in terms of the Hamming distance. Somewhat surprisingly, the well-known procedures subset selection and the lasso are rate non-optimal, even in very simple settings and even when their tuning parameters are ideally set.

Multiscale probability transformation of basic probability assignment

Decision making is still an open issue in the application of Dempster-Shafer evidence theory. A lot of works have been presented for it. In the transferable belief model (TBM), pignistic probabilities based on the basic probability as- signments are used for decision making. In this paper, multiscale probability transformation of basic probability assignment based on the belief function and the plausibility function is proposed, which is a generalization of the pignistic probability transformation. In the multiscale probability function, a factor q based on the Tsallis entropy is used to make the multiscale prob- abilities diversified. An example is shown that the multiscale probability transformation is more reasonable in the decision making.

Tsallis information dimension of complex networks

The fractal and self-similarity properties are revealed in many complex networks. In order to show the influence of different part in the complex networks to the information dimension, we have proposed a new information dimension based on Tsallis entropy namely Tsallis information dimension. The Tsallis information dimension can show the fractal property from different perspective by set different value of q.

Power Scaling of Uplink Massive MIMO Systems with Arbitrary-Rank Channel Means

This paper investigates the uplink achievable rates of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna systems in Ricean fading channels, using maximal-ratio combining (MRC) and zero-forcing (ZF) receivers, assuming perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI). In contrast to previous relevant works, the fast fading MIMO channel matrix is assumed to have an arbitrary-rank deterministic component as well as a Rayleigh-distributed random component. We derive tractable expressions for the achievable uplink rate in the large-antenna limit, along with approximating results that hold for any finite number of antennas. Based on these analytical results, we obtain the scaling law that the users' transmit power should satisfy, while maintaining a desirable quality of service. In particular, it is found that regardless of the Ricean $K$-factor, in the case of perfect CSI, the approximations converge to the same constant value as the exact results, as the number of base station antennas, $M$, grows large, while the transmit power of each user can be scaled down proportionally to $1/M$. If CSI is estimated with uncertainty, the same result holds true but only when the Ricean $K$-factor is non-zero. Otherwise, if the channel experiences Rayleigh fading, we can only cut the transmit power of each user proportionally to $1/\sqrt M$. In addition, we show that with an increasing Ricean $K$-factor, the uplink rates will converge to fixed values for both MRC and ZF receivers.

Superradiant Decay of Cyclotron Resonance of Two-Dimensional Electron Gases

We report on the observation of collective radiative decay, or superradiance, of cyclotron resonance (CR) in high-mobility two-dimensional electron gases in GaAs quantum wells using time-domain terahertz magnetospectroscopy. The decay rate of coherent CR oscillations increases linearly with the electron density in a wide range, which is a hallmark of superradiant damping. Our fully quantum mechanical theory provides a universal formula for the decay rate, which reproduces our experimental data without any adjustable parameter. These results firmly establish the many-body nature of CR decoherence in this system, despite the fact that the CR frequency is immune to electron-electron interactions due to Kohn's theorem.

To Achieve Maximal Throughputs in CSMA Wireless Networks Through Offered_load Control

This paper studies how to achieve the maximal link throughputs in a CSMA wireless network through offered-load control. First, we propose an analytical model, contention-graph-combination (CGC), to describe the relationship between the offered-load and the output link throughputs of an unsaturated CSMA network. Based on CGC, we then formulate a linear optimization model to improve the aggregate link throughput through properly setting the occurrence probabilities of each sub-network, based on which we can obtain the optimal offered-load of each link. Simulation results bore out the accuracy of our CGC analysis and the maximal link throughputs can be closely achieved. Different from prior work in which CSMA protocol parameters are adaptively adjusted to achieve better performance, in this paper we propose to achieve maximal link throughputs by adjusting the rates of the traffic pumped into the source nodes of links, which runs in a software manner and is more practical to implement in real networks.

Extended Bose-Hubbard model with pair tunneling: spontaneous symmetry breaking, effective ground state and fragmentation

The extended Bose-Hubbard model for a double-well potential with pair tunneling is studied through both exact diagonalization and mean field theory (MFT). When pair tunneling is strong enough, the ground state wavefunction predicted by the MFT is complex and doubly degenerate while the quantum ground state wavefunction is always real and unique. The time reversal symmetry is spontaneously broken when the system transfers from the quantum ground state into one of the mean field ground states upon a small perturbation. As the gap between the lowest two levels decreases exponentially with particle number, the required perturbation inducing the spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) is infinitesimal for particle number of typical cold atom systems. The quantum ground state is further analyzed with the Penrose-Onsager criterion, and is found to be a fragmented condensate. The state also develops the pair correlation and has non-vanishing pair order parameter instead of the conventional single particle order parameter. When this model is generalized to optical lattice, a pair superfluid can be generated. The mean field ground state can be regarded as effective ground state in this simple model. The detailed computation for this model enables us to offer an in-depth discussion of the relation between SSB and effective ground state, giving a glimpse on how nonlinearity arises in the SSB of a quantum system.

Distance function of D numbers

Dempster-Shafer theory is widely applied in uncertainty modelling and knowledge reasoning due to its ability of expressing uncertain information. A distance between two basic probability assignments(BPAs) presents a measure of performance for identification algorithms based on the evidential theory of Dempster-Shafer. However, some conditions lead to limitations in practical application for Dempster-Shafer theory, such as exclusiveness hypothesis and completeness constraint. To overcome these shortcomings, a novel theory called D numbers theory is proposed. A distance function of D numbers is proposed to measure the distance between two D numbers. The distance function of D numbers is an generalization of distance between two BPAs, which inherits the advantage of Dempster-Shafer theory and strengthens the capability of uncertainty modeling. An illustrative case is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed function.

Implementation of dynamically corrected gates for single-spin qubits

Precise control of an open quantum system is critical to quantum information processing, but is challenging due to inevitable interactions between the quantum system and the environment. We demonstrated experimentally at room temperature a type of dynamically corrected gates on the nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. The infidelity of quantum gates caused by environment nuclear spin bath is reduced from being the second-order to the sixth-order of the noise to control field ratio, which offers greater efficiency in reducing the infidelity by reducing the noise level. The decay time of the coherent oscillation driven by dynamically corrected gates is shown to be two orders of magnitude longer than the dephasing time, and is essentially limited by spin-lattice relaxation. The infidelity of DCG, which is actually constrained by the decay time, reaches $4\times 10^{-3}$ at room temperature and is further reducible by 2-3 orders of magnitudes via lowering temperature. The greatly reduced noise dependence of infidelity and the uttermost extension of the coherent time mark an important step towards fault-tolerant quantum computation in realistic systems.

Propagation of singularities for weak KAM solutions and barrier functions

This paper studies the structure of the singular set (points of nondifferentiability) of viscosity solutions to Hamilton-Jacobi equations associated with general mechanical systems on the n-torus. First, using the level set method, we characterize the propagation of singularities along generalized characteristics. Then, we obtain a local propagation result for singularities of weak KAM solutions in the supercritical case. Finally, we apply such a result to study the propagation of singularities for barrier functions.

Observation of Time-domain Rabi Oscillations in the Landau-Zener Regime with a Single Electronic Spin

Under resonant conditions, a long sequence of landau-zener transitions can lead to Rabi oscillations. Using a nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center spin in diamond, we investigated the interference between more than 100 Landau-Zener processes. We observed the new type of Rabi oscillations of the electron spin resulting from the interference between successive Landau-Zener processes in various regimes, including both slow and fast passages. The combination of the control techniques and the favorable coherent properties of NV centers provides an excellent experimental platform to study a variety of quantum dynamical phenomena.
