Generic Hubbard model description of semiconductor quantum dot spin qubits

We introduce a Hubbard model as the simple quantum generalization of the classical capacitance circuit model to study semiconductor quantum-dot spin qubits. We prove theoretically that our model is equivalent to the usual capacitance circuit model in the absence of quantum fluctuations. However, our model naturally includes quantum effects such as hopping and spin exchange. The parameters of the generalized Hubbard model can either be directly read off from the experimental plot of the stability diagram or be calculated from the microscopic theory, establishing a quantitative connection between the two. We show that, while the main topology of the charge stability diagram is determined by the ratio between inter-site and on-site Coulomb repulsion, fine details of the stability diagram reveal information about quantum effects. Extracting quantum information from experiments using our Hubbard model approach is simple, but would require the measurement resolution to increase by an order of magnitude.

Productions of heavy charged leptons via gluon fusion at LHC: A revisit

Heavy charged lepton productions via gluon fusion at the LHC are revisited. Full loop calculations are adopted with an updated parton distribution function and electroweak data. Including contribution from new generation quarks in the loop, pair production of the sequential heavy lepton via gluon fusion at the LHC dominates over that via the Drell-Yan mechanism in some heavy lepton mass range. Exotic lepton single production of vector-like lepton extended models is also calculated. In the later case, the gluon fusion mechanism via the Higgs exchange is emphasized. Our numerical results for both pair and single production of heavy leptons are smaller than previous studies especially for a large heavy lepton mass as a result of full loop calculation and due to the mixing angles.

Associated production of Z boson and a pair of new quarks at the LHC

The associated production of $Z$ boson and a pair of new quarks at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is studied. The cross sections for both sequential fermions and vector-like fermions are presented. It is found that for sequential fermions the cross sections can reach $1\sim 10^2$ fb for heavy quark mass $m_Q$ from 1000 GeV to 200 GeV. For vector-like quarks, the cross sections are suppressed by mixing parameter $\sinθ_L$. Focusing on process $pp \to b'b'$, we investigate the possibility of detecting the $6l+2j$ signal. For a $b'$ with light mass and a large branching ratio of $b'\to bZ$, it is found that only several signal events (parton level) can be produced with 1000 fb$^{-1}$ integrated luminosity. Although the signal events are rare, all the final states are produced centrally and multi lepton final states are clear at hadron collider, which could be easily detected.

Comments on Baryon Melting in Quark Gluon Plasma with Gluon Condensation

We consider a black hole solution with a non-trivial dilaton from IIB super gravity which is expected to describe a strongly coupled hot gauge plasma with non-vanishing gluon condensation present. We construct a rotating and moving baryon to probe the screening and phases of the plasma. Melting of the baryons in hot plasma in this background had been studied previously, however, we show that baryons melt much lower temperature than has been suggested previously.

Plans for PANDA Online Computing

The PANDA experiment will not use any hardware trigger, i.e. all raw data are streaming in the data acquisition with a bandwidth of ~280 GB/s. The PANDA Online System is designed to perform data reduction by a factor of ~800 by reconstruction algorithms programmed in VHDL (Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) on FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays).

Associated production of the Higgs boson and a single top quark in the littlest Higgs model at Large Hadron Collier

In the context of the littlest Higgs model, we study the associated production of the Higgs boson and a top quark ($th$ production) at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The cross sections for s-channel, t-channel processes and the relative correction for the total cross section are presented. In a part of parameter space, the cross sections can be distinctly deviated from the predictions of Standard Model. We also investigate the signal and backgrounds for the $th$ production at the LHC. However, due to the large QCD backgrounds, it is not very hopeful to directly observe the $th$ signal in most of the parameter space of LH model. It is found that with 30 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, in a narrow range of the parameter space $c=0.8$ and $f\leq 1.62$ TeV, a statistical significance of 3$σ$ can be achieved. More than 30 fb$^{-1}$ luminosity will enhance the significance and the possibility of detecting the signal.

Observable Topological Effects of Mobius Molecular Devices

We study the topological properties of quantum states for the spinless particle hopping in a Mobius ladder. This system can be regarded as a molecular device possibly engineered from the aromatic Mobius annulenes, which enjoys a pseudo-spin orbital interaction described by a non-Abelian gauge structure. It results from the nontrivial topology of configuration space, and results in various observable effects, such as optical spectral splitting. The transmission spectrum through the Mobius molecular device is calculated to demonstrate a topological effect as a destructive interferences in the conduction band. The induced interaction also leads to an entanglement between the transverse and longitudinal modes for any locally factorized state.

Competitions of magnetism and superconductivity in FeAs-based materials

Using the numerical unrestricted Hartree-Fock approach, we study the ground state of a two-orbital model describing newly discovered FeAs-based superconductors. We observe the competition of a $(0, π)$ mode spin-density wave and the superconductivity as the doping concentration changes. There might be a small region in the electron-doping side where the magnetism and superconductivity coexist. The superconducting pairing is found to be spin singlet, orbital even, and mixed s$_{xy}$ + d$_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$ wave (even parity).

Fidelity susceptibility and long-range correlation in the Kitaev honeycomb model

We study exactly both the ground-state fidelity susceptibility and bond-bond correlation function in the Kitaev honeycomb model. Our results show that the fidelity susceptibility can be used to identify the topological phase transition from a gapped A phase with Abelian anyon excitations to a gapless B phase with non-Abelian anyon excitations. We also find that the bond-bond correlation function decays exponentially in the gapped phase, but algebraically in the gapless phase. For the former case, the correlation length is found to be $1/ξ=2\sinh^{-1}[\sqrt{2J_z -1}/(1-J_z)]$, which diverges around the critical point $J_z=(1/2)^+$.

Signals of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity at $eγ$ and $ep$ collisions

Littlest Higgs model with T-parity predicts the existence of the neutral, weakly interacting, new gauge boson $B_{H}$, which can be seen as an attractive dark matter candidate. We study production of the new gauge boson $B_{H}$ via $eγ$ and $ep$ collisions. We find that $B_{H}$ can be abundantly produced via the subprocesses $e^{-}γ\to L^{-}B_{H}$ and $γq\to B_{H}Q$, which might give rise to characteristic signals. Some discussions about the $SM$ backgrounds for this kind of signals are also given.

Single production of charged gauge bosons from little Higgs models in association with top quark at the $LHC$

In the context of the little Higgs models, we discuss single production of the new charged gauge bosons in association with top quark at the $CERN$ Large Hadron Collider$(LHC)$. We find that the new charged gauge bosons $W_{H}^{-}$ and $X^{-}$, which are predicted by the littlest Higgs model and the SU(3) simple model, respectively, can be abundantly produced at the $LHC$. However, since the main backgrounds coming from the processes $pp\to t\bar{t}+X$ and $pp\to tW^{-}+X$ are very large, the values of the ratios $N_{W}$ and $N_{X}$ are very small in most of the parameter space. It is only possible to detect the signal of the gauge boson $W_{H}^{-}$ via the process $pp\to gb+X\to tW_{H}^{-}+X$ at the $LHC$ in a small region of the parameter space.

Little Higgs models and single top production at the LHC

We investigate the corrections of the littlest Higgs(LH) model and the SU(3) simple group model to single top production at the CERN Large Hardon Collider(LHC). We find that the new gauge bosons $W_{H}^{\pm}$ predicted by the LH model can generate significant contributions to single top production via the s-channel process. The correction terms for the tree-level $Wqq'$ couplings coming from the SU(3) simple group model can give large contributions to the cross sections of the t-channel single top production process. We expect that the effects of the LH model and the SU(3) simple group model on single top production can be detected at the LHC experiments.

Littlest Higgs model and top-charm production at high-energy linear colliders

Due to the presence of extra top quark T in the little Higgs models, the $CKM$ matrix is not unitary and the flavor changing neutral currents may exist at the tree level. In the context of the Littlest Higgs(LH) model, we discuss the top-charm production at the high-energy linear $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider $(LC)$ via the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to \bar{t}c +t\bar{c}$, $e^{+}e^{-}\to (\bar{t}c +t\bar{c})ν_{e}\bar{ν_{e}}$, and $e^{-}γ\to e^{-}\bar{t}c$. We find that the resonance production cross section for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to \bar{t}c+ t\bar{c} $ is significantly larger, which can be detected in future $LC$ experiments.

Lepton flavor violating signals of the neutral top-pion in future lepton colliders

The presence of the top-pions $π_{t}^{0,\pm}$ in the low-energy spectrum is an inevitable feature of the topcolor scenario. Taking into account the constraints of the present experimental limit of the lepton flavor violating($LFV$) process $μ\to eγ$ on the free parameters of topcolor-assisted techicolor(TC2) models, we study the contributions of the neutral top-pion $π^{0}_{t}$ to the $LFV$ processes $μ^{+}μ^{-}\toτμ$ (or $τe$), $ γγ\toτμ$ (or $τe$), $e^{+} e^{-}\toτμ$, and $e γ\to e π_{t}^{0}\to e τμ(e)$ via the flavor changing ($FC$) couplings $π_{t}^{0}l_{i}l_{j}$ and discuss the possibility of searching for the $LFV$ signals via these processes in future lepton colliders.
